I suspect the discrepancy might be do to different people working on the UK & US sites translating from Japanese to English, but hope it's not intentional.

In addition to the new courses appearing in Gran Turismo 5, you can also expect to see the legacy tracks familiar to the fans of the series.
While maintaining the allure of the course, they were rebuilt from scratch to drastically improve their quality. Even those familiar with the track will be able to enjoy them as if they were seeing them for the first time.

While these modern recreations have been rebuilt from scratch to drastically improve their quality, they still maintain the allure of the original courses that fans know and love. Get ready to re-experience these tracks for the first time.

I hate to bring up the Premium & Standard issue, but I think it applies to tracks to. It is my belief that for it to be possible to get the track count up as high as it is, a lot of the GT4 tracks models will have to be carried over. Much like the cars, we are going to get premium tracks & standard tracks.

Premium Tracks - built from scratch for GT5 will all new textures, objects etc.,

Standard Tracks -tracks models created for GT4 & PSP carried over into GT5, they might have improved textures, objects & sky domes might be updated.

It seems PD is emphasizing tracks such as Trial Mountain, quote PD "rebuilt from scratch to drastically improve their quality"
discerning from this, a lot of the older tracks not seen yet, will not built from scratch & might only have slight improvements to them, just a wait and see. :)

i agree.

The only thing what PD has shown are Premium tracks and Premium cars.
All Premium tracks are already known. maybe there are some premium tracks for suprise which only be known when the game is released. But i think there will be alot of standard track.

i also think standard tracks will not have night and dynamic weather.

I doubt they will have dynamic weather, but i and some others believe that there will be a random weather forcast for the standard tracks before the race, setting a static weather that doesn't change for the duration of the race, be this sun or rain...

If we will have standard and premium tracks of course.

Yes, I think people should take care not to get lost in their own theories. Despite talks of a limited amount of designers, I think it would be less than acceptable to spend six years on a game which doesn't deliver tracks with equal visual quality. That trailer showing El Capitan gives us reason to worry though.

I can live with 200+ premium cars as they in most cases have been selected carefully but they should really give the tracks full priority no matter which one it is. Sony calls Gran Turismo 5 their flagship title and why would they want to repeatedly delay and in the end release a game with polished PS2 graphics here and there? This game is expected to show the streght of the PS3 so it would make no sense to make it look rushed. Otherwise they should get their resources straight before making any promises about perfection.

I'm a little bit worried about Daytona in GT5. Don't get me wrong, this is my home track, and I love that it's in GT5. However, If Night Racing is limited to a certain amount of tracks, I'm afraid of Daytona not having night racing options. Then again, if they have Daytona for an endurance race, they might have it at night. And it would be good for Nascar in the game since not only does it have lights, but Nascar has run at Daytona at night. But, we'll have to see what happens.

I really do hope we get to drive Daytona at night in GT5. Something similar to this:

I agree that the tracks will also follow the standard/premium formula. To me, its the only thing that makes sense.

However, I look at it like this...

Would you rather not have those tracks at all? I think you would be stupid to say "yes" to that. IMHO of course :)

I must be stupid then because all the tracks should have equal importance but I could live with it if the diffrence isn't too big. I think it is a lot easier to consider the 800 standard cars as a secondary thing.

Yes, I meant that we will surely get the unchicaned version, but I'm not sure if that will be the layout from the '60s. Probably the modified modern version.

I've said numerous times that they never really scrapped the plans for GT HD classic - they just threw everything that game has onto GT5 and kept adding/rebuilding some.

I expect to see all the cars and tracks from GT4 on GT5, because of the developments with GT HD classic. They already had the assets in 1080p, so... why not?

I'm glad we're getting it, i don't mind if they are not as pretty as the rest of the game.

Just watching the new Laguna Seca in GT5, it seems rather bright and green. I remeber the iracing version looked like a desert! Iracing is supposed to be all laser scanned and super accurate, so I decided to refresh my memory

Now it seems the real thing is as green and bright as GT5's version :)

Well, laser-scans don't change the textures.
But I think it also depends on the season, I've seen a desert-ish Laguna Seca often, in games and real life.

It has to do with the time of season you are rendering. Infineon (Sears Point) is the same way. It could be green or it could be brown, neither is wrong.

Now...let's see some dynamic seasons PD! :dopey:

I was disappointed to see the really green grass again in the GT5 build but after seeing that video I see the truth. Over time I've seen a lot of laps at Laguna and I always just saw sand and very dark grass, nothing like what was in GT4 (or this new build) so I thought PD was just taking the dark grass and imagining what it could possibly look like by creating the brighter grass.

But it's nice to see that it really looks like that and I'm satisfied. I've never seen Sonoma with bright green though... pics anyone?

Sonoma is always bright green, the hot sun tends to burn the grass so it become yellow-ish or completely die :)

I'm glad Laguna Seca has green grass and hopefully Infineon (if included) will have that too. It gives the tracks more visual diversity. I'm also fairly sure that the Nordscheleife would look dull without the green forests around the track.
