GT5 Master Track List (NOT a wishlist)

A valiant request, that would take a valiant effort. Personally, I have witnessed, and participated in the creation of the list and I can tell you that we have been dissecting and deciphering for ages. With it being so close to release... I doubt your request will be fulfilled.

But if someone wants to take it on, by all means. 👍

I kinda have been doing that myself when I was in the debate about Special Stage Route 11, which I still firmly believe is in. Matching signs as well as matching sections and that bridge before the rise are all big indicators.

Also, I'm still dissecting the TGS trailers. I found three new cars (one of which was confirmed thanks to the playview demo).

Problem is, the only way to go to the Kleine Scheidegg is by train, there is no road!

There's a walkway but it wouldn't be a problem for PD to pave it for race use like they did with Eiger Nordwand (Kleine Scheidegg) 👍

Hi... Please consider this a request. Can we perhaps mandate a screen-shot / picture to confirm each & every track that's been listed on the master list here? If not a picture of the game - then at least a picture showing the text from an official source as a means of confirmation.

In so far as I'm concerned, I'm still treating the 20+ locations, 70+ variations message as the only official message and if this thread is going to be treated as "not a wishlist" then I think it only fair to see photographic evidence (as best as possible) linked to next to the location / track name.

Thanking you!

What about something like this?

Color guide

[TEMP. NAME] = Temporary name. The track name might differ in the final build.
Blue = Confirmed tracks (seen and recognized from screenshots or videos). Variations of these tracks that have not been properly confirmed (guessed or coming from anecdotal sources) are in bright red color.
Dark red = Tracks from GT4/PSP. Might appear in GT5.
Bright red = Tracks seen in videos or screenshot but not yet properly identified. They could end up being Course Maker tracks.
Gray = Tracks appeared on a list of track reference material from a screenshot of a video showing briefly the monitor of a Polyphony Digital workstation. The chance of their inclusion in the game is slim.

“More than 40 tracks with over 100 layouts (including all versions of Nurburgring – which nobody’s ever done before). That enough for you? :)”

I really hope Deep forest makes a return to GT5. But I doubt they wouldn't include it, since its been in all pervious games. Its my favorite original track for setting lap times. I like it because it has a good combination of straights and unique corners, and the scenery was great in GT4.

I'm trying to find info regarding the track count in GT5. This is what I have so far:

Does anybody have more, possibly contradicting, sources?

After the revelation of the circuit creator, I think the infamous phrase "20 racing locations with over 70 track variations" refers to 20 themes for the circuit creator and more than 70 circuits (including variations).

Am I the only one who thinks so?

The "20 locations" statement was revealed way before the track creator (unlike photomode, which was one of the first features to be announced)

How many course maker themes have we seen so far? 4, and the scroll bar suggests that there are another 2-4 maximum.

I think the course creator will have far less than 20 themes to choose from so I don't share your observation and still think it has something to do with the actual locations ( whatever that actually means ) of the real life tracks included in GT5.
Could mean the amount of themes ( aka locations ) of the course creator are included in the total number of locations though.

I'm not sure if PD decided to include the Course maker since the beginning. 20 locations/70 variations has been one of the first bits of official information about GT5 that started to circulate on the web.

My impression, seeing how the track/location/circuit number has changed over time, is that their number simply kept growing... first 20+ [locations], then 40+ (according to Jeff Rubinstein), and currently 60+ from the Motortrend interview to Yamauchi.

This screenshot suggests there are 10 instead.
It's likely that all screenshots we have seen so far about it are just mock-ups not representing the final appearance of that screen.

^^^ Combine that image with the one below and I think we have 8. Notice where the arrow is in relation to the scroll bar.

Edit: The more I look at it, the more I think it may not be that clear cut.

So in this screen shot, I see two Toscana's. The one that his highlighted 'Toscana' is paved, and the one directly above it seems to be a dirt variation. It's not labelled as 'Toscana' but those bails of hay and the barriers look very similar to the Toscana rally videos we've all seen recently. Maybe we're getting 4 paved themes and 4 dirt variations?

Could the FT-86 be showing prehaps the Long Eiger Nordwand circuit? :)

If it's got something to do with Eiger Nordwand, I'd say that it's the mountain pass from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg that we speculated about in the previous pages rather than a long version of the Eiger track in GT5P, which is located on a relatively flat and open area of the mountain. So, it would be related to Eiger Nordwand, but not directly, at least in my opinion.

that FT-86 trailer makes me think of the semi-trailer that we seen in that one menu. maybe it holds the cars you want to bring to a track?

I made a video from Google Earth of how the road traced here from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg (Eiger Nordwand in GT5P) would approximately feel/look like:

Nice work! That would be a hell of a rally stage indeed.
I'm not expecting it to be featured in GT5 though. Still, we yet have to see if anything similar could be made out of the course maker.

PD could always pave it for road use like they did for Eiger Nordwand :)

Anyway, point to point tracks will be possible with the Course maker. The one I traced here is 11 Km long, but I guess that the maximum lenght of 10 Km (still hoping for some changes there) would make possible to approximate it enough. I still think we're getting some kind of fixed, PD-made, mountain pass track by the way (see the previously posted FT-86 video).

In fact, I doubt of the possibility to build up this sort of course mostly because it would need an accurate description of the surrounding scenery (terrain data), which would become insanely huge in that particular case.
My guess is that the course maker does work because it is based on a procedural terrain (math functions that output fractal patterns which can be replicated easily to yield terrain data, and fill the field of view), which works perfectly for sceneries made of bunches of random hills (see "Toscana" generic setting for the course maker).
We'll see.

I really wonder when or if we'll ever get any real clarification on the course count. :(

In GT4, a number of tracks didn't reveal themselves until certain events where completed. So most likely only after game release will we really know.
