Assuming they don't reveal all tracks before release. Is there a possibility that the revealed tracks will be those available to play from day one while the uncomfirmed tracks will unlock as we make progress? It would be brilliant if we had to play for a while to discover circuits such as Grand Valley and Deep Forest!

At this point, everything is possible.
However, I bet we will know everything a few days before the game will be officially released as some people might receive/obtain it earlier and try to disassemble game data on the blu-disc for track names.

I will try to avoid what other people say about GT5 until I feel ready to share experiences and opinions with others. First hand suprises are best.

It appears there will be over 150 "circuits" in the game. If we take that as variations, even counting reverse versions of original and city tracks, it takes more circuits than I ever put together in my list to reach that number! So I added GT5Prologue weather screen-derived tracks:

Color guide

[TEMP. NAME] = Temporary name. The track name might differ in the final build.
Blue = Confirmed tracks (seen and recognized from screenshots or videos). Variations of these tracks that have not been properly confirmed (guessed or coming from anecdotal sources) are in bright red color.
Dark red = Tracks from GT4/PSP. Might appear in GT5.
Bright red = Tracks seen in videos or screenshot but not yet properly identified. They could end up being Course Maker tracks.
Gray = Tracks appeared on a list of track reference material from a screenshot of a video showing briefly the monitor of a Polyphony Digital workstation. The chance of their inclusion in the game is slim.
Light gray = Tracks derived from the GT5 Prologue weather screen. Whether they will appear in the final build or not it's currently unknown.

Miscellaneous track count info

“Gran Turismo 5 features 20 racing locations with over 70 track variations”
http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5247p2.html

“More than 40 tracks with over 100 layouts (including all versions of Nurburgring – which nobody’s ever done before). That enough for you? :)”
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/06/18/a-chat-with-kazunori-yamauchi-creator-of-gran-turismo/

“Gamers may choose from over 60 circuits including the newly added Tuscany, Madrid, Rome and Indianapolis tracks.”
http://www.motortrend.com/features/consumer/1009_gran_turismo_5/cars_and_tracks.html

“GT5 propose plus de 1000 voitures dont les plus puissantes jamais produites, près de 150 circuits [likely variations] et une experience de la course auto comme vous ne l'avez jamais vécue !” http://www.parisgamesweek.com/jeux/gran-turismo-5

Not even in this way, even counting reverse variations, 150 variations are reached.

Well...i have not seen any hints about it. But i saw Grindelwald in your List and i thought you just "forgot" about RRV.

There's a source for Grindelwald.
It was on that list of reference material for tracks on a PD workstation, caught "by accident" on a 3-part video about Nurburgring in the official GT5 website.
Grindelwald is also very close to Kleine Scheidegg, which is where the Eiger Nordwand track is located.
So if it appears in GT5, that would not be surprising at all. It would be a very logical inclusion, in fact.

However, RRV... unfortunately there has been absolutely no info or clue about its possible return.

You have to imagine that PD would have more original fictional tracks (as in tracks appearing for the first time in GT5) would at least be double from what we've already seen beyond Toscana, Rome, Madrid, and the Italian Kart Track. The only one we don't know hardly anything about but know it exists is Cape Ring. There, without question, has got to be at least 4-5 more original tracks beyond those.

In my opinion there are probably at least:

- Original new Special Stage (possibly more than one) track
- Original new Swiss/Italian mountain pass track
- Original new Toscana (tarmac) track

So I added GT5Prologue weather screen-derived tracks:

One small caveat there, not something to justify a change in your approach, just something to bear in mind: Silverstone has undergone huge changes since Prologue was developed. I can't imagine PD would want to release the game with only an old layout and I'm not sure they'll have been able to model the new one in time. So even if the intention was to include the weather location tracks, Silverstone might not make it.

I suspect that if those tracks are included there will be several variations eventually revealed for most of them.

Silverstone was even missing from that track reference material list (by taking into account the japanese ordering of words), so even I am not very sure that it will be included in the game. In general, in the latest list I included every known possible/plausible track to test the "150 variations" info recently revealed, which we don't know if it's true or not, but according to some people it's official.

I suspect that if those tracks are included there will be several variations eventually revealed for most of them.
I suspect and hope that too: personally I want to see the '50s-'60s versions of all real tracks where possible, which in my opinion are generally better (most of the time either unchicaned, longer, more challenging, faster, or a combination of all of these) than current ones. With those, we could even have a historic F1 championship.

What's the name of GT5 track that's always being shown turning from day to night? The one that looks like it's in an open field.

People don't actually race on that at night do they?! That looks dangerous. There are no street lights or anything.

It's a fictional course.

Looking at your list, this seems to be the most plausible outcome considering that they surely haven't shown all of the tracks and that there are at least 5-10 tracks we won't be able to see until the game comes out.

BTW, nice work.

I can't promise, but I will try and post all of the tracks listed in the Apex book. I am going to pick it up at midnight on release night. So, for everyone who doesn't want to know, stay away. :)

Well grafpt won the game at subway so he'll probably have it before us and don't ever count out amar212 to manage to get it before us as well.

Wonder why we haven't heard anything about the Test Track. Maybe it's getting replaced with a newer, better, more high speed course. The 1/4 and 1/2 and 1 mile times could be held on the Top Gear Track, what about Top Speed? Maybe they'll have the Bonneville Salt Flats...or the Bugatti Test Course that has those incredibly high banks and 5 mile straights.

what about the big oval in GT4?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFzYgUOAuOc

The Big oval was only 4 miles and you only got 3 of those to use and 1 of those miles is a corner. It works, but it's not long enough. Indianapolis will probably generate faster speeds than that thing.

Indy's speeds won't be that impressive. Those corners are pretty flat, as far as oval racing goes.

Hopefully Amar212 will share with us. He got a ton of BS from people last year.

It is probably nothing, but I did notice another road in this picture. You'll see it headed towards the mountain.
