I'm thinking ABS for awhile. At least until I'm comfortable.

Although, I won't know until I have the game.

I normally turn all assists off as a rule.

In GT4 though when I'm driving powerful Le Mans prototype cars or the black stealth machines I will sometimes set traction control to 1.

:)

Voted ABS aswell... hard to say what I'll be needing since I haven't had any time with any of the newer builds.

A spot of TCS for sure. And no racing line. I'm a lazy person, so once it's there I'll never turn it off, and it robs me a bit of the illusion.

No ABS - socks and G25 pedals are quite enough ;)

No assists for me unless using a DualShock pad is really horrible...which I've a feeling it will be judging by the Nissan TT Competition.

:nervous:

I wont be using any assists. Well unless I am placed into a very high class with only RWD then I might turn on traction control.

In some cars i hope ( wanting more older cars to not have them at all ), i will use the assists as long as they don't hinder the handling & acceleration.

ABS at 1, rest of the assists off...
And I use a dualshock

Been able to hit 2:02:XX on pp700 suzuka with a viper.
I dont understand not being able to control a car with no assists with a controller:indiff:

I hope when you create a room you can set rules forcing everyone to use the same settings. So likewise, I'll use whatever settings the room i'm in enforces :)

But would probably like to have ABS on as much as possible, don't see the point of turning that off ever.

Also is all assists off necessarily the best for the fastest times? (I'm thinking about leader-boards etc here.)

We haven't heard much about on-line modes yet, which worries me.

I'm hoping a properly set up custom LSD will allow me to take off traction control on all cars as without it ( and using a DS3 ) some cars are too much of a handful to be able to concentrate on the racing part without the handling taking up all of my concentration ( currently I use TC in Prologue set at around 2 max ).
In Prologue I also use ABS set at around 2 max but I hope I can learn to drive especially the classic cars without.
And like Neal said it also depends on tyre wear in a full race, the other driving aids are always turned off by the way.:)

Only maybe is ABS. NASCAR 2003 had a great feel for when the tires was locking up. There wasnt much of a feel in GT5p. However it was PD's first go at ABS. Im sure GT5 will be better.

I voted for driving/braking line.

I am not a GT expert I would say I am a little more than a rookie.
I normally set all the assists off and professional mode. It's tough for me but I think it is a good way to really improve my driving style (at least I hope so).

Said that I have some little observations:
a) ABS seems to be really useful because many of you use it.
b) Just a few people use the driving line. It seems curious to me.

That is just what I did, and I have got a lot better. I leave my abs on 1 and I used the driving line when I started out on professional and then one day turned it off and haven't used it since!!

The driving line to me ( although I've never used it in Prologue ) is a nice way to learn a new track but when racing you can't always stick to the ideal line unless you're in front or in the back of the field.
You have to improvise when racing and react to each situation and use all opportunities given in a safe and fair way ofcourse which more than often means leaving the ideal line to overtake around the outside in a corner for example or slightly missing the apex when outbraking your opponent sometimes ( although that's not ideal in itself to be honest ).:)

i dont understand.. in real life, when you break the car wont go with break lock.. why in gt at 0 the car slides like its on ice?? i think its not realistic..

How do you mean exactly, the real life car you talk about, does it have ABS?
If not it should lock when you slam the brakes hard just like in GT when ABS is disabled although the experience isn't similar ofcourse.

Depends if they finally manage to get the wheel lock-up right.
Otherwise I will use ABS 1, rest off (I drive with pad, but still).

I've had ABS go out on me in my s2k. Not fun at all... Press the brake too hard (not hard at all really) and it locks the crap out of them.

One more thing turning off or on ABS depends on how much of an advantage it gives.

If I go through the trouble of feathering the brake pedal with the risk of flatspotting a tire I want a sizeable braking advantage over ABS users.

It wont be worth it if you can only brake 5 meters later then someone who has ABS turned on. In NASCAR 2003 you could brake as much as 25 - 50 meters later depending on how much you have to slow down with ABS turned off. Of course there was always the threat of locking up a tire or two and flat spotting them, just like with no TC theres always the threat of spinning the tires out of a slow corner, wearing them out faster
