Hey!

This being my first post here at GTplanet, I will just mention that english is not my first language, so bare with me if my spelling and sentences don´t make any sense...

I´ve played GT4 for about 2 years, stopped at 97% i think, could not hold my self any longer, updated and bougth a slim PS3 and Prologue in december. I´ve golded every event now, playing the game 75% Pro, 25% Standard with a pad, nice game!

About GT5: In Prologue you could choose between Standard/Pro in driving dynamics, I was not very keen that you could choose this. It´ll just make you "cheat" when you struggle with a race where you can change the level of difficulty. If they (PD) incorporate this in GT5 I would like the trophys you win, be marked with "S" and "P", then you will know where you have made a "short-cut"... =) If they will have a % game completion it will tell you how much you manage to complete i the two different difficulty levels! This would make the game more of a challange for the hard-core GT-players, think of that GOLD-Trophy with a "S" staring at you from the screen! :)
In Prologue you might remember where and when you used the different levels but in GT5 there will be so many events you will not be able to remember that.

It might been brought up before, please delete this post if so.

I think the game either won't care or GT Mode will be locked to Professional, while in Arcade Mode will allow you to switch between Standard and Pro.
But nobody knows... We'll see.

If A-spec points make a return i get the feeling you will only be able to max them out racing on professional. Thats what i think anyway. But i like your idea too.

If there is no difference in rewards between Pro and Standard i don't think i'll be too happy, because A-spec points in Gt4 have given other people bragging rights. People could just go through GT5 on standard and start saying it was on professional. There must be some distinction between them.

If the GT mode is only pro physics. it will kill GT5 sale! A lot people who bought GT in past are mostly casual gamers. A lot of people didn't even bothered finishing the license test in GT4 (I know plenty of people that didn't) because it's too hard for them. Now imagine it on GT5 with only pro physics in GT mode, which is way harder than GT4. It will get bad reviews, decrease in sale, and get criticized for being too hard. I say they should put both. and make it only standard from start so everyone can jump in and play without worrying about totaling their car in the first turn, and if your a pro sim racer, just set it up later to make it harder, that's how GT roles IMO.

GT mode has to put has to have a Standard physics mode, or the ability to toggle in between professional and standard. Kaz knows better than to anger the casual gamers like those who whine how they can't get a clean lap on GT5 TT with a DS3 and complain about oversteer.

Still, its a good idea to distinguish between Standard A-spec points, and Professional A-spec points. For me and a lot of guys in GTplanet, its only pro physics. Takes considerably more patience and skill, but in turn is much more rewarding

Standard physics are needed, because of the expected selling results.

At least, the pro physics setting must be the only option available for some of the championships, like Gran turismo World Championship, and the ones that were in the extreme hall in GT4 ( formula championship, Like the wind, and others...). So casual players can enjoy the beginner, professional and even the manufacturer events without being pissed by the "difficult" pro setting. 👍

I totally agree that if the physics of the game were like the TT demo it would put most casual gamers off and destroy sales and that will be taken care of I have no doubt but along with some sort of standard physics mode could a game like GT5 include an extreme arcade physics mode, kind of like ridge racer or something along those lines, catering to an even wider audience?

That would probably be the stupidest thing PD could do.

Let me choose the difficulty, if the career mode is locked in Professional Physics I think I'll be passing on the game. I realise I'm not the best video game driver nor do I really aspire to be on the top, really all I want to do is have fun and to me have the game on professional physics just makes it needlessly frustrating.

If GT5 follows the same physics setup as Prologue (although with the newer physics of the GT5 TT), not only do you get the Standard/Pro Physics but within each physics you get the different assists- steering, stability, traction and obviously ABS. The last two even comes with a slider from 1-10, which you can adjust. And to top it all off, the assists (even the brake bias and F/R torque in AWD car that allows it) can be toggle ON/OFF or adjusted in real time. It may be quite a handful to have all that on your DS3 or Sixaxis controller but even with wheel other than the DFGT, it's just a matter of mapping your buttons.

Come on, this game is not just for sim racers, they should give other people options. knowing that you can complete the game in a higher difficulty is enough and you can brag to your friends about it. But we should give everyone the chance to complete the game and experience it completely regardless of how good they are. What i just hope is that the "pro" is more pro than it actually is, i was playing gt4 yesterday and it felt better than gt5: p gt5: p had no feel to the bumps on the road and the force feedback felt like it was just being pulled. GT TT fells like youre driving on ice. I hope the full game has a better feel and 900 degree steering is applied better.

Difficulty will be selectable I'm sure, and for those who want bragging rights, I'm sure there will be some rewards/trophies that you can only get by using pro physics. At the end of the day though, who cares? If you have played through the entire game and got to 100% on pro difficulty, why are you bothered if somebody else played through the entire game and got 100% on amateur? Does personal satisfaction not come into it, or is it really just about bragging rights to your mates? Kinda' sad if that's the case.

Mm, I aslo want two modes in the game, and there might be even more then two modes? But what I really would like to see, is SEEING where i´ve used Pro/Standard, labeled trophys for exampel. Then you can go back and try again in Pro mode, and get that "Pro trophy" (if you cleared it in standard before)

Game % Cleared in Standard vs Pro, would also be nice.

I dont know if it was my post you referred to but i don´t care about bragging rights, i´m to old for that... :)
Just my thougts about labeled trophys and game & cleared in Pro/Standard

See previous post also.

I think that 90% of all GT5 players will play at professional physics!!!!

The extremely doubtful, however I would say that 90% of hardcore GT fan will probably play it on pro physics. Most people don't like to crank the difficulty up to 11 on any game.

I think there are 2 physics modes (not difficulty settings) to accomodate players that are using controllers. To ask a guy with a 1/2inch stick to use the same physics to control the same car as a guy with a 12inch wheel is unfair to say the least.

Or it is unfair to make guys with a wheel use physics that are unrealistic to accomodate others that have controllers.

Just play at Pro level. Then you have no need to worry about what races you completed at what level. Standard doesn't make you a better racer like Pro does, it just makes it easier to clear events.

That would probably be the stupidest thing PD could do.

For once i agree with you :)

Well in the GT4 section of this forum there is a whole section dedicated to 200 A-spec point races. It is for both bragging rights and personal satisfaction, and many people post their achievements in the game on that forum. If people could complete the game on professional instead of Standard, and max out A-spec points (If they're in the game) they need to have something to show for it, or they need to be rewarded. I think Trophies on PSN would be a good way to go i guess. That is all well and good simple for winning the races, but what about winning them with underpowered cars like in GT4?

I will probably play on professional to provide a challenge, but if there are A-spec points i'm not going to bother getting them myself, but i know others will put a lot of effort into maxing them out. But if you can max them out on Standard they may aswell not be there.

I don't mind that you can change difficulty, all that matters to me is being able to unlock all tracks and cars in the absolute minimum amount of time so I'll be able to get on with the online. In the same way I don't mess about getting golds in the licenses, bronze is enough. If some cars or tracks are only available after completing in pro level then so be it, I'll have to do it, but given the choice I will always take the path of least resistance.

Having said that in previous GT's I always try to complete each race on the hardest difficulty first, but will not waste hours of my life if its not going well especially on the endurance races, I'll just switch to easy mode and be done with it.

I do admire those that are willing to put the time in for flawless completions and all gold licenses, I just wish I had the time to do that. 👍

Agreed..Sooooo true... i´ve played GT5P with a DS3 , finished the game mostly in professional .. but i dont get gold in every event...

I think its a matter of choice.. most o people dont have a good set of wheels ( thanx hardwork god after 4 years im having one now... ) and playing with a DS3 in professional could result in frustrating hours of ( not fun at all ) gameplay for some players. There are some players that really do a hard work completing the game in STANDARD. I think that a good game have to please everybody , not only hardcore players but the casual players as well. ( they pay hard for the game too... ). Like TokyoDrift have said... a selectable difficult level should be probably the reasonable solution here...

Players should also be rewarded for playing the game on standard, in the form of trophies and A-spec points. Ideally there should be 2 trophies for each race, 1 for each difficulty, but that would be a lot of trophies... I think the cars + monetary prizes should be the same. The rewards for playing on pro physics should be something like A-spec points or extra PSN trophies that don't have any effect on gameplay.

Well, I think Kaz has had the vision about helping people get into the most realistic experience for racing as possible, but for that, he actually realizes that he cannot make it with too steep a learning curve, nobody would get the game except the select few who are already pretty decent drivers. That would defeat the purpose of his vision! I think that GT5 will have a GT Mode system where you CAN drive in Standard physics setting, but you get less money for the races and they advise you change to Pro for the most realistic driving experience... Maybe they could have an evaluation system to see which system is best for you (like CoD)

I have a few friends that I play with who absolutely love GT5P on standard settings and find it too hard to compete on pro physics , so to totally alienate a group of individuals because they cant compete at a certain level is personally not what the GT series is about and I think as Standard / Pro is an option in Prologue it will be in GT5.

👍
It is rather arrogant to say pro physics deserve more than standard physics.
Pro physics is not a step up in difficulty, but it is a step up in realism. It seems a lot of people are missing that point.

Nah, unlocking some particular cars would be a bit of incentive for some to move up from standard to pro but not cars that would affect much in the game, possibly classic or historic cars or something.
