I just got back from a rather nice vacation so I will update the thread later today... after I recover from waking up at 4am.

Damn! I wish I would've seen this earlier today, I was out demo hunting today.

There is a demo at the Gamestop inside Melbourne Square Mall, in West Melbourne. The Best Buy across the street did not have the demo.

1700 West New Haven Avenue
Melbourne, FL 32904

That's three locations so far within 20 minutes of my house. I know of at least 5 other Gamestops within half an hour, I would bet that a couple of those probably have the demo too.

Best Buy
5800 Britton Pkwy
Dublin, OH 43016

Has the demo now - it wasn't there a week ago. Overall it seemed nice, but not 5 years of waiting or even 2 years since GT5P nice... tracks and cars still look too perfect and clean, I prefer the "raced on" look of Forza 3 tracks. Stupid game pad controller was all messed up, so no real opinion on driving other than there are a bunch of sparks and dust, but no skidmarks I could see. No real damage on the demo either. The day to night transition looked nice - driving the 'ring at night would be awesome. I'm sure it will be a great game, i just wish they put as much time into making the cars and tracks look realistic as they probably put into the handling models. I was concerned with the rally course - there were invisible walls way way too close to the sides of the road. I'm not a person as concerned with 100% realistic physics - I want the game to feel like driving, of course, but what I really want in a game is immersion into the environment. Forza 3 does it much better, even (dare I say) Need for Speed Shift gets you "into" the game more than this demo. At least it now feels like you are going fast (except at Indy - but that may be due to the nature of the track) - unlike GT5P.

Oh yeah - one more thing. This was a very buggy demo - all track textures disappeared while driving the Lambo on the ring... maybe would have been more fun had I dropped acid first... :-)

Just a small reminder please give me the EXACT address so I do not have to go searching through google maps which is rather time consuming. I will not be posting any more listings that do not have the full address. If you forget to put the google link, thats ok, I just need the address. Thanks.

I might have been one of those guys, since the updated list does not have the one I linked a map to LOL. Sorry, but here is the address to the Bestbuy that I went to that had it: 8925 Town And Country Circle, Knoxville, TN 37923

Yeah there are a couple Gamestops around town that I'm sure have it. Viera Gamestop, and there was a Gamestop in Eau Gallie that I'm sure had it too.

I only tried it in professional mode but seems like the drafting has been made less ridiculous from what we have in GT5P, but only by a small amount. Also, the cars still don't accelerate like they should while turning, as if the front wheels are dragging a lot, kind of like the demo we had last Christmas, and every GT before that. They really need to fix that way over done effect. Everything else seemed very good, although there is only so much I could tell from playing with the controller since it has been several years since I last did that. I didn't come across any bugs, but maybe this was a different version as it did not have a GT-R available to try, but had the same tracks others have mentioned.

I have no idea what you mean by that?
Time Trial felt fine to me. Felt just like every other PC sim.

If you get a chance to play the demo try the cockpit view in the Citroen GT. It's like flying a spaceship.

Edit: Just found out it was in prologue as well... (haven't played prologue)

Ya, I have had plenty of time in cockpit view in the Citroen Gt in Prologue. Very cool

The Best Buy in Boca Raton from the list does have it. Pic eventually...While driving the Nascars at Indy, I drove in reverse to hit someone - afterward I could only top out at 122. I hadnt seen anyone else actually state mechanical damage.

That's good news :), also do we know if the handling/steering of the cars are affected?

I have been calling all around town trying to find the demo, ive called all the best buys by me, I went into one buy my house and asked, they said they were in the middle of rearranging the store and that they might have if but are waiting to load new demos until they are done!! WTF! Does any know of the demo is in eastern Washington state!

There is one in the Best Buy in Apple Valley, MN. It is on a small tv across from the large PS3 demo of ModNation Racers. I only had time to play once in the arcade mode.

The best buy in Springfield PA has a GT5 demo with a good controller and a big tv over the door to the video games section that is pictured below so everyone can watch

Wo ho !! going to the fry in Burbank only live 2 miles from their and going to other stores near to see if they have it yet.👍

Has anyone asked if they could copy the demo to a thumb drive and take it home?

I'm not speaking for all BBs, but the demo at mine was only the installed version, which isn't transferable to a flash drive as far as I know.

If I'm wrong, please explain how it's possible to get an installed piece of software off the PS3.

Most things installed on the hdd can be copied to another drive by pressing triangle and selecting copy I believe. Been awhile since I've done it.

edit: unless they've locked it.

At least the PS3 at the best buys i have been to, they are in demonstration mode and you can do anything. I tried to get into their psn account to see if some how we can get their demos from home. But no luck. :(
