What do you thinkg about the Logitech Z-5500 in relation to your systems?

I have that one and I gotta say it's great for its price. The sub brings so much more to the experience.
Well, back in my previous house I had that system for my games console, and I have to say, on balance it was probably better than the SONY, but only because the sub was more substantial and capable - less of a boom-box. Bass is a bit of a personal thing though, and while I don't like lots of it, I do like a "rich", "full" bass that adds to the experience without making itself so obvious if you know what I mean.

Like I said, these systems have their place, and for the money I guess are very good. I mean, how much is the Z-5500, £250 or so? If you were to spend a bit over triple that, and get a mid-range Onkyo amp (607 is great value at the moment), a set of KEF 1005.2 speakers and some half decent speaker cable (QED micro for example), you will have a system that blows the Z-5500 and my old SONY system out of the water. The biggest improvement you get is clarity, and you will swear you hear things you never heard before in music and films. Not only that, a good amp will do a good job of up-mixing stereo into something that sounds almost surround-like through the 5.1 speakers.

I stepped things up a notch or two in each element with my new system, but still didn't spend a fortune. The speaker stands and new AV cabinet were the real stingers! ;)

I used an audio editing software on my pc to morph? a High quality recording of a SLS on gt5 at the mercedes musuem (with no background noise), and after comparing it with direct feeds from gt5p and need for speed shift I tuned the SLS clip and it sounds menacing, with the sub on my pc but i wish i just had a way of uploading it

Hello? Anybody there? ;) We'd like to hear that, please? :)

If I buy a corvette in GT5, and apply the supercharger and exhaust to it, (Edit: and a whole bunch of other engine parts ;)) I'd expect it to sound like this in a replay::dopey:

I nurse a semi everytime I hear this video

That sounds like a really inefficient supercharger :scared: but what do I know...

Anyway, I think Lingenfelter does a bit more than a simple exhaust and supercharger bolt on

But I see what you mean, it would be awesome to get some really nasty sounds out of some of the cars.

Yes, if ;)

ACR Viper > ZR1 (Yes, there is no '-' inbetween the R and the 1 on the C6 ZR1 :sly:)

I never used to put the "-" until that post. But still, it looks cool.

And although I am a big Vette fan, the ACR has posted better times than the ZR1. For one, it IS a pure track car. The ZR1, not so much. But in GT5, they should be the top 2 cars in America.

mmmm, supercharged V8 goodness. I don't care if the ACR is a better track car, I'll take the goosebumps any day 👍

I just remembered this from my "childhood":
(Excuse the use of profanity, but I feel it's wholly justified.)

I joined in with the unison at 0:29 :dopey:

lolcats are great help with conveying emotions.:D

Ive noticed the M3 in GT5 Prologue sounds nothing like the real thing. I sure hope they fix it for the GT5.

If the Alfa GTA is back in GT5, it better sound like this after I've done some work to it.

God I love the noises an Alfa Twincam makes.

recently released Lamborghini SV670 mod for GTR2

some of the better streetcar sounds for PC sims.

Coming from a sound-modder:👍:dopey:👍
Great job, whoever did it! Proof that you don't even have to have a great audio engine, just good ear, good samples, and some patience and know-how!💡
Now, imagine it in HD, more samples, nuances.etc...it'd be really, really good!(it's never perfect:sly:, but it would be good enough!:))

*real thing, listen from 2:06-2:10*

You can make out the SLS sound from the outside better in this recent vid from a Polish motor show 👍

The game offered a well known track Nürburgring and ride Mercedes SLS. Visual side has not changed, when more than two years ago I bought my first PS3, videos of GT5 have been doing a great impression on me. Now, when I saw a competitive game heartbeat next to overcoming the corners is much slower, and the same publisher cools us with each successive game release dates. Quite a nice model car, same track, and the environment now much uglier. The demo was implemented "damage model" - I managed to tear partly behind the bumper car (unfortunately only on the right ...) To the game approached several times, the Mercedes did not want to turn, and the settings are not enjoyed myself, as the game offered only Japanese shrubs. Although really, the demo I spent several minutes just came across a bug (unfortunately I could not photograph it) you see at a speed of 150 -160 km / h on a straight road (find us at the finish) I became Auto prance like an American dragster. Presents itself as a whole in motion? Review for yourself:

There were a couple moments in that SLS video where I could hear the engine over the music and my god, they just may have captured the staccato thump that comes from that engine. In the moments where I could make out an engine note it sounded like a combination engine and machine gun, just like it actually does.

I noticed the rumbley thumpy sound too back in the Gamespot CES vids, but it was covered in distortion, but the same fundamental tone was there

You can also make out the Mclaren sound too, especialy around the 20 second mark when the cars drive by the camera, each one sounds distintcly different

The ZR1 and the Murciélago LP 670- SV have such unique sounds. They're so typical of their countries.

The Murciélago LP 670- SV has that unmistakable high pitched whine. Sounds very sexy.

The ZR1 has that unmistakable low end grunt. Very masculine and intimidating.

I hope PD doesn't butcher em'!

It's got that classic American V8 rumble that's joined in the higher rev range by the kind of trumpet-like exhaust wail that you'd get from something made by the Italians. Not the high-pitched shriek you'd get from a Ferrari, but more of a baritone howl like you'd get from a V6 Alfa.

It's an absolutely glorious sounding engine.

Inside a ZR1 (Whoa!)

Outside a ZR1 (is that a thunderstorm I hear in the distance?)

I kind of agree on that last part :)

Though the ACR isn't just a track car...

Looking at that; Leather Seats, Air conditioning etc. I don't think it is a track car. Its just a refined and tuned version of the standard car, with body modifications for extra downforce, Just like the ZR1. The ACR produces more downforce, but has more drag than the ZR1. I'm going to bet the ZR1 has a lower centre of gravity and overall a better designed chassis too. They'd both be difficult to live with.

Good sound. Where was that quote from, was it the driver in the video? Something tells me they like playing Mariokart, or Need for Speed or something... He wasn't braking half the time and he wondered why the car wasn't turning?

I'd hope so! But in the end, I don't think they'll be that different. Just like in real life, their lap times are no more than a few seconds off. Take the Ring:

ACR-7'22

ZR1- 7'26

I mean, a PURE track car versus the ZR1 on The Ring and only 4 seconds separate them. Incredible.

And in a drag race or a top speed race, you already know who'll win. *cough ZR1*

But I think American finally has something to smile about with these two gems.

Being honest, the ZR1 has more power and is faster in a straight line. With the right suspension adjustments, this thing will be faster than the ACR in GT5, but it will be a lot harder to drive. The ACR Viper is my favourite car to have come from the US :)

Again, neither car is a pure track car, they are both high end performance sports cars. Don't let the lack of a rear wing etc. on the ZR1 fool you. It's ring laptime was set on semi-slick tyres aswell.
