Just to give you an idea what is possible...

Now imagine something like that but with PD's attention to detail.

Common sense tells me this isn't for real. Track editors are huge work and the game is designed for it from the ground up.

I just can't see it. I'd much rather resources were put into making online component great.

The online is set to be great. Dedicated servers, private and open lobbies, possible car trading, in depth leaderboards and possible clan style racing tournaments. Whats not to like?

And yet in his latest interview, Kazunori-san speaks of a track editor as though it's a perfectly reasonable (and possible) feature for GT5.

IGN: “Have you finalized plans for a track editor?”

Yamauchi: “Things like that I can’t really discuss yet. This can be said about all the GT development. Until we’re very close to release we won’t have a finalized decision on a lot of things.”

IGN: “If there is a track editor, that will make your job easier, right? Because you can make fans design the tracks instead of your team.”

Yamauchi: “[Laughs] A lot of the courses we set up, we take a long time fine-tuning the details and building the track, so it would probably be a bit different than the types of tracks the users will set up in the game.“

i hope we can use Bob's Track Builder to edit create new tracks.

also;

That's typical Japanese attitude right there. Yes there's a lot of junk on the internet, but there's also some extremely well made products made part-time by fans and passionate people.

Im hoping for enviroments that are a little more imaginitive

like enviroments here

for the space one it could have a flat plan to build on.

ocean
for this the track can be held up under neath by stilts like bridges
no land just pure water and you can go under the water and its like a glass tunnel and you can ocasionally see sharks, or whales, or maybe schools of fish, or dolphins.

OPtions to enviroment
i would like it if you could go throough walls and underground and over it.
like when you go through it creates a tunnel, and same when you go underground, and when you go over you can create a bridge and go underneath it with another part of the track,

CARS (cars cars cars) IN (in in in) SPAAAAACE (space space space)

Oh yeah, and they could make DeLorean fly back to the future when I hit 88mph...

Maybe that's what Kaz meant when he said you can reverse your game!
:odd:
That would be a seriously weird feature.
Imagine driving one lap Fuji 2005, and the next lap you're suddenly driving the 90's track 💡 Does sound cool actually...

Yes and suddenly you find out that you are driving a de lorean and leaving flames in tire tracks :)

Or you're driving a Mustang around Laguna Seca when suddenly the whole place turns into Cowboy central and you're riding a Mustang horse down a dirt track.

that'd be the most bad-ass way for them to debut tyre tracks. Anso they should put easter eggs into cars, so that the de lorian leaves flames when it hits 88, if you jump in an old camaro or something a mullet appears on your helmet, if you drive an Alfa Romeo it won't break down, etc...

Hahah that should be pretty nice to see...👍 but i'm was just joking with the DeLorean thing, and if Kaz include these easter eggs in the game, he would probably delay the release of the game just to be sure that the flames on the track are "realistic as possible", or he would say "we can work on it, but it's not yet confirmed to be put in the game"....

By track editor...is it building your own tracks from scratch, or just adding barricades to existing tracks (as in the PGR series). I would like a full fledged editor.

lol

you could play with 15 friends in Mini's..... Speed down a big long straight in a big heavy car and everyone who gets damaged is a pin knocked over.

:dopey:

How about 10 SMART cars lined up at the end, and you run into them with the Dodge Ram RT? 👍

You want tracks in space?

Imagine racing on the Moon, a GT-R R35 would weigh less than half of what a Formula 1 car weighs (due to the fact that a GT-R weighs c.1,700kg, and the Moon's gravity equals 1/6 of Earth's, making the GT-R weigh c.285kg on the Moon).

But it wouldn't have any downforce as there is not much of an atmoshpere, and also because of the lack of air the engine wouldn't work.

i got in on the mod nation racers beta... if gt was to create a track editor with auto generating features...and has similar features to mod nation racers thatd be awesome.

the track editor is really simple to use.

I really hope some sort of track editor is in, if it is really simple that is fine, although I'd really like a advanced track editor so I can make really technical, over the top fantasy circuits which I think would be great with GT5's physics.

The 3 disc box set also leads me to believe that 1 disc is a track editor, but I will try my best not to get my hopes up.

Didn't read all the posts, but here's an idea I had (hope it wasn't mentioned)...

Maybe a function that a "track editor" would be used for is a way to customize your racing line. The one given for many tracks can be pretty "off" from where I'd think the correct line is, so maybe you can edit this line....among other things.

A track "creator" or "designer" would be much cooler, but wouldn't be very feasible using a console to design your work. If you can download something to create tracks via your computer, that'd be worth looking into. Then, you can upload to your PS3 via a flashdrive. File sharing over the internet would work then as well so anyone can download your track.

It'll never happen though.

Well Farcry 2 has an online list of environments, other peeps have designed & you can DL & play. But it's a little slow, so keeping it separate as you say People_Know_Me would help to speed it up.
