Thanks for the feedback. What phone are you running?

Edit: Also, what info do you record in your notebooks? The save function would record the initial settings on the car and the 'Your tuning settings'. Would that cover what you are doing?

I am running Motorola's droid. Installed flawlessly after the renaming process.

I record my own tunes for drifting, drag, and circuit racing. I record them in a notebook as it is more convenient as of now. I'm too cheap in GT5 to buy another of the same car just to separate my tunes so i just change everytime depending on what i want to do on the track. It is a hassle.

I guess what I am asking you to do is more of a personal tuning layout rather than the quicktune aspect of it. If you do get to that point, gear ratios and aerodynamics will be great too.

Edit: I don't want you to think that I dont use quicktune, just a save/load feature on the side for personal tunes will be great. I usually use quicktune to get an idea for my tunes.

Great to see this as an android app, works fine on my SE Xperia Play. I used Dolphin to download it and when I clicked the link it asked me what filename I wanted to save it as and had the .txt file extension, I just changed it to .apk and launched it from the downloads folder with astro.

Any chance you could change the LSD strength so that is possible to alter it in .1 of an increment as you can on the original spreadsheet?

Looking forward to future updates and the option to save tunes sounds good, I've been saving individual tunes for each car using oppositelock's spreadsheet so far. Thanks to you both for all your hard work on doing this for us. It's really made setting up cars much easier for me and is giving me more of an understanding as to what effects changes have on the handling of the cars.

Keep up the great work!

Cheers

Mark

Didn't notice if anyone had mentioned this phone or not, but it works on the Droid X. Just renamed the extension and it loaded right up. Thanks, nice app.

Many thanks for all the feedback and suggestions. I've updated the original post to include all the phones that the app has worked on.

Look out for an updated version coming in the next week or so. I've hopefully fixed all the issues reported so far, plus it will allow you to save and load the initial car parameters. I'm working on a way to let you tinker with the generated set up and then save different versions of that. OppositeLock has also given me some updated calculations which I should be able to incorporate.

wuhu, looking forward to it! thank you!

New Version

A new version is now available. See link on the original post in this thread.

You can now load and save car setups as well as individual tunes.

I've split the program up into three screens. On the first and third screens, the menu button is active and will allow you to load and save.

I'll update with screenshots and more information later.

Remember, this is beta software - It may not work correctly and may simply crash on your phone. Please let me know if this does happen and if possible let me know as much detail as possible so that I can try to fix this.

I picked up an Android phone the other night, nothing special an Acer Liquid E. It's running 2.2.2 so I can check out the App. Too bad it's not available on the iPhone, my iPhone 4 is so much more user friendly.

I still think the lack of car specific variables has the results too generic, but that's just me, if I say it though others may like it.

thanks for the update!! first look is impressive!!

will test the next few days and give you a feedback!!

How did you get it on your droid? I just got one the other night. I went to the android app store and couldn't find the app, do I need to DL it on PC then transfer it to my Droid, or can I DL it from here or anywhere on my Droid?

Read the first post. It has the download link as well as the QR code.

Thanks!

Wow. That QR ish is cool. I tried with my iPhone but the image is too small I think. I'll try off my Laptop when I get home.

That's pretty sweet the QR codes.

any chance of this working on the ipod touch, or iphone. Would be interesting to try this out.

Sorry Jack: I can't afford the $99 that Apple want just to get hold of their development tools. Plus it's a whole different language to program the iPhones.

I've been using the app over the past day or two and have found the way you navigate through the app very annoying. So, expect a new version very soon, which should please all you people out there who want to record their own tuned setups.

I dl it but haven't got it installed, more work then I'm used to.

The QR code was cool, but the novelty died as soon as it wouldn't instal from my Droid, or my Laptop.

I have been able to "root" my Droid so I'm happy with that, and certain it's not the issue.

Thanks for the PM changing the file ext did the trick.

Ill have a look over it. At first glance it seems to factor in more variables. This is good.

As the number of variables increases the usefulness will grow so long as the cal ulations are sound

Thanks for the update elginge!

I've been trying it out today and the tunes seem really good to me. I have just come across one problem though. I've made a tune for a fully tuned Peugeot Coupe 406 3.0 V6 '98 and it has suggested a rear toe of 1.74. Obviously this can't be right because you can't have more than 1.00 of rear toe.

The data I've entered is as follows.

DSR = 6.5/4.2
MinSR = 3/2.4
MaxSR = 15.5/15
MinRH = -25/-25
MaxRH = 50/50

Drive FF

HP = 353
Weight = 1269
Torque = 44.3
Wheelbase = 2700

Suspension Lvl = 3
Balance Fine Tune = 8
Base Camber = 1.2
LSD = 1
Brakes = 2

screen3.png

Using the same data with Oppositelock's original spreadsheet suggests a rear toe of -0.06 which seems much more reasonable. ;)

Could it be there's something wrong with the calculations for FF cars? I've only tried it on MR & MAWD so far so can't comment on any of the others. (Edit - I've just tried a MR tune and no unexpected results there).

Thanks for all the effort you and Oppositelock have put in to this and keep up the good work! Can't wait for the next update!

Cheers

Mark

Thanks for the feedback macmark. I'd not spotted that one - There was an error in the calculations as oppositelock's new calculations keeps the rear toe on FF cars at 0.

I've just put a new version up which has a different way of navigating through it. I've also expanded functionality quite a lot.

Have a look and let me know what you think.

I've been doing a lot of testing with this today and have updated the file several times as bugs were found and corrected.

If you do find the app doesn't work or force closes or is buggy, please let me know.

How do you you find out the wheelbase info?

For the cars that I have included in the app, I mostly used google to find the wheelbase. Occasionally, GT5 itself will give the wheelbase in the car description.

At the moment it's not actually used for any of the calculations, so don't worry too much about it.

It seems to be working fine on Motorola Charm. Thanks for this useful app!

Glad to hear it works for you. Thanks for the feedback.

Has anyone added a few tunes for a car? I've added about 5 to the Spitfire and found that reloading one of them will crash the app.

Is there any way to back up the saved tunes? I deleted the previous version before updating the app and now my tunes have gone.

Cheers

Sorry to hear you have lost your tunes. Backing them up is not something I've thought about or would reckon was even required. True, the version I released on Wednesday did mean you had to uninstall the old version but I've now worked out why and that won't happen again (it was to do with digital certifcates!).

However, I'll put it on my todo list - Perhaps a simple output to a .csv file would be useful anyway.

.csv output would be great.

Cheers

Meant to comment earlier on the irony of your username on here, your avatar and the fact you are using an android phone. :)
