Meant to comment earlier on the irony of your username on here, your avatar and the fact you are using an android phone. :)

Haha, sshhh don't tell Steve ;)

I just liked the look of the Xperia Play when it came to upgrade time and think the iPhone is overpriced.

Its worth it. Battery life is outstanding, the overall speed is incredible. The Camera is superb, the screen resolution "forget-about-it".

I have an iPhone 4 32G JB & NO Provider lock. (had a 3GS)

I also have a Acer Liquid E (with a SnapDragon Processor) on Android 2.2 Rooted.

Has anyone added a few tunes for a car? I've added about 5 to the Spitfire and found that reloading one of them will crash the app.
I just tried to reload a tune to change the power output and it crashes the app. There's only 1 version of the tune saved.

Cheers

Mark

Galaxy s i9000 works fine (running froyo).
Question though, updates only available by doing a reinstall? Or can it receive updates, like my other apps.
Ps lil cap Rm runs 'nice'now :)

Thanks for letting me know it runs on your device.
At the moment, you have to manually download the updates and install over the currently installed version.
I hope in time to release this through Android Market but I don't think it is mature enough to do so yet.

Glad to hear your cap RM runs well - I race mine on Saturdays in the Capp Cup (link in my signature, the 137HP one).

Hi Mark. I've been trying to recreate this problem without success. I did think it had something to do with a trailing space on the tune name but all testing was fine. I'll keep trying and perhaps in the next release have a 'check tune file' option on the menu somewhere.

Which version are you running?

Anyone got any thoughts on the transmission settings screen?

I thought about asking for the numbers of gears on the very first screen of the app. Then in the transmission screen, just having a list of the gears (rather than two columns).

Any thoughts? All ideas are welcome.

I've got Version 0.72.19 installed.

Edit: I thought I had the latest version :) I've just updated to 0.73.4, I had to uninstall the previous version to update again but that's my fault for being a div.

I'll try again.

Cheers

I've just worked out why my saved tunes were crashing the system - In the notes for the tune I had used the enter key. When this was saved to the saved tunes file, it wasn't handled correctly and so caused the program to crash when it went to reload the tune.

This was partly (and rather clumsily) fixed in 0.74.xx but you lose any comments after the carriage return. I'll fix this properly for the next release.

That Capp cup sounds awesome Elginge.

Tell me though, how awesome is this little machine in the kei car seasonal. slap on comfort mediums and drift 90% of the time(although with the quick tune little less slide happy, but = faster times I guess).

In relation to your trans section of the app, I'm guessing its purely for notes purposes at this stage. You've got the right idea to request on page 1 "number of gears" then trans page shows relevant gears. Any word on a calc to be implemented for gearing also, I guess this would need to allow for rev limiter, red line etc. (sorry to give you a headache and more work:dopey:)

I might take you up on the saturday cup, once i get to calculate time difference (aussie here, noticed the cup is in US) and of course tune my little orange frappacino lol

The capp cup is awesome - The drivers are a good mix of skill levels and you can always learn something from them. Most will help you out with setup and are more than willing to have practise sessions with you too. It's pretty full at the moment but the organiser is going to start a second season pretty soon, so keep an eye on the forum. They do races on tuesday and friday as well and I know there's a guy from NZ racing.

I've not had time to try the seasonal events but I must make time: Didn't realise there was a kei challenge!

Thanks for the feedback on the app. It would be possible to incorporate gear calculations in the app, but I would need some clever person to work out the math. The quicktune calculations belong to oppositelock, so I can claim no credit for them. I'll at least try to capture as much information at this stage as I can which would facilitate any future development of a gear calculator.

Very nice app. Works with HTC Wildfire, but there is a resolution problem... Some stuff in settings it's hidden due to the lack of space in screen and it's hard to manage :/

p.s: my screen resolution is 320*240

Thanks for bringing this to my attention - I've just fired up an emulator and it's the tune settings screen which is missing info on it.
I can't really reduce the size of the text on the screen or you would need the fingers of a five year old to tap on the values. However I can make the screen scroll. I'll put this in the next release which should be available by the weekend.

Cheers.

Hi all,

I played with this app today and used it on a Civic Type R 97.

A few things i noticed.

- I was unable to set gears (out of range error) it wouldn't go higher then 1.999 on all gears.
I don't think gears is that important as it doesn't get generated with quicktune?

- Toe angle value says 3.2 in quicktune but in GT5 you can only go from -1.00 to 1.00 max.
My thought about suggested quicktune toe angle 3.2 was that i should enter is as 0.32?

You're right: Gears aren't generated. I'll make this clearer on the next release. At the moment every car gets 8 gears and the layout is frankly horrible. You should see improvements in the next version.

I made a mistake with the Toe angle calculations in an earlier version. The toe angle on FF cars should always be 0 using oppositelock's current calculations.

The currently released version is 0.73.4. Can you check if you are running this one please?

And many thanks for the feedback. Please keep all comments and bugs coming in.

Only issue I am havinggis finding the wheel base of cars and as for torque. No idea how to convert to kgfm or what that unit even is.

Don't worry about them - They are only there to record the data. Neither is used in any of the calculations, but I included them simply to future proof the app.

For the cars that are already in the app, I used google to find the wheelbase.
The torque figure is displayed within GT5 as kgfm in my European version of the game. Not sure how to convert.

Running version 0.73.4 Beta.

Thanks for all your effort in developing this app ;)

I knew I'd fixed this problem, but it crept back in as a result of a typo.

Next release this will be fixed.

The only comparable thing I could find for conversion was kg-cm not kg-fm. Oh and the app runs flawlessly thus far on my rooted and re-rommed droid-x

Thanks for the feedback and glad it works for you.

kgfm = kg force meters. Seems to be the euro equivalent of foot-pounds. Perhaps in the next version I'll either drop this measure or allow it to be converted in the app.

In my version it is Nm

Forget kgfm! That's an old unit.
Modern metric system (SI) units are much easier to handle. I can't understand why some countries still use the old units like ft lbs, kgfm, ps, ect.

Cause we're big dumb ugly Americans who were never taught anything other than the old English Imperial units of measure! Actually come to think of it blame the Brits for all these screwy measurements like foot, pound, mile, etc...

Thanks for letting me know this. Some people report torque is shown in foot pounds!

You should try the old money before decimalisation! 12 pennies make a shilling. 12 shillings make a pound, etc. Nightmare! And as for measuements - inches, feet, yards, furlongs, etc.

It seems that GT5 does use a few different measurements, depending on where you are in the world. As torque isn't used in the calculations, I'll try to make it so that the user selects the unit of measurement. It can always be converted later if any calculations do need it.
