Redownload, probably corrupt apk.

Same error for me too on my Galaxy S. Cannot download from phone browser, parse error on code reader app and email app. parse error when attempting to install the apk file downloaded from the emails to myself through my phone's "my files". Downloaded AppInstaller and tried that way on the SD card, same error. re-downloaded several times, corrupt app DL isn't the problem.

Apparently my phone isn't as excited to try this new version as I am :grumpy:

I redownloaded 4 times now... and the error still kick in!

Which version of Android is your Galaxy running?
The app is set to require 2.2 or later.

According to google searches, there is a 2.2 update for your phone.

Data entered should always be stock default, if you weight reduce your car you shouldn't enter this in DB but you can't really check.

Would be easy if there was already a site which has this info already so we only need to convert it :P

I know 1 site which has this data partly covered mygranturismo.net

AC Cars 427 S/C '66
specs:
Power 487 HP
Weight 1311 kg
Torque 663 Nm
Driv. FR

The data above is probably the easiest data to collect about a car: Collecting the default spring rates, etc is a tedious job involving mutliple button presses. And I really wouldn't go lifting the data off a website as there are all sorts of copyright issues there just for starters. You'd also be relying on the information being accurate, which would involve checking it, which is mind-numbingly tedious! :)

I think if there as to be a master database, the only real way of collecting it is to be able to export data from the app, collate it centrally and then publish it for importing into the app. Although again this is really reliant on the initial data being accurate. I keep waiting for someone to say the sample data in my app is wrong!

One final thought on this: GT5 contains over 1000 cars. If even 10% of these cars where included in the app, that would give you a list of over 100 cars to scroll through to simply find the car you want to tune. If the full database was in there, you'd be searching all day and the app would be incredibly slow. Plus, the database would grow even more as you would have the stock car in there plus any weight reduced variants you have.

That reminds me, your Clio Renault Sport V6 24V '00 tune, you have the Min Spring Rate as 7.5 for the rear. It should be 3.0. I noticed this the other day but forgot to mention it. I haven't checked any of the others but I will now for you.

I'd be happy to supply any stock data for the app. I've started going through all the seasonal events and tuning each available car for each event so I should be able to add quite a few. Will it be ok to keep these in the app or should I keep them in an excel file too?

Cheers

Mark

Gallardo LP 560-4 '08 - Rear Min Spring Rate, says 12, should be 7.5

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 '69 - Rear Max Spring Rate, says 15.5, should be 15

Triumph Spitfire '74 - Front Default Spring Rate, Says 3.2, should be 4.2

Thanks for spotting that Mark. I think there's a similar problem on the Gallardo. :guilty:

If enough people want it, then I will try and incorporate an import/export function into the app. It would only be for car data though, not for tunes.

Keep your data wherever you feel is safest Mark - I keep mine on the phone and on paper at the moment! :)

And there's one on the Spitty and Camaro. I've updated my last post with the figures.

Thanks again Mark.

I'll put these in the next release.
I'm really glad I put the functionality in to overwrite the setup! Easy corrections are now possible.

hummm, my galaxy is running 2.1.

I'll try to install the update and see what's happen.

thx

This app works with my HTC EVO 4G.
Also could you add a line for downforce settings in the tune page. I know the quick tune won't account for it but it would still be nice to be able to edit that while looking at all the other stuff too.

On second thoughts, I'll revise the app to allow it to run on 2.1. Not sure why I restricted it to 2.2. :(

Thanks for letting me know it works on your phone. :)

Regarding adding downforce to the tune screen: there's not a lot of room left and I'm loathe to add more. Could you not use the 'Notes' option? I use this to record mine and also ballast settings.

OK, I give up! 2.2 installed but my phone blocks ALL non-marketplace apps from being installed, a setting on the phone that I can't get to without rooting/modding..

From the original post:

Before you can install it, you will need to change a setting on your phone: As this app does not come via Android Market, you need to go to 'Settings', click on 'Applications' and then tick the box marked 'Unknown Sources'. Once the app has been installed I recommend returning to this and unticking the box.

Are you able to do this on your phone?

EDIT: Found a few references on Google to the effect that non-market apps are blocked on some AT&T phones. There are ways around this but I'm afraid this would be down to you.

I have a weird question - when you update the app next, if I save it under a different name, will I still be able to use the current build? The reason I ask is because if I take the current app, set the suspension level and balance fine tune to 1 and 10, then use my own alignment settings, it spits out PERFECT drift tunes...and I never want to lose that ability.

It has worked with EVERY FR car I've tried it on, and it works better than every other tuning setup I've tried since the game came out.

Now that wins the prize for the strangest request for this app!

Unfortunately, saving it under a different name won't work - Android uses the internal name. This is so that I could change the name if required: Either legally or aesthetically.

The only thing suggestions I have are that you keep a copy of oppositelock's spreadsheet as the calculations are the same. Or you could keep installing the old version over the top of the new.

I'm intrigued now to try it out myself!

New Release: Version 0.75.09 Beta
See the first post for the download link and instructions.

Fixes:
1. App would crash if a tune was loaded in which the note/comment was blank.
2. Now allows app to be installed on Android 2.1.x

Improvements/Changes:
1. Expanded menu system to incorporate icons for import/export functions (coming soon)
2. Improved layout of transmission screen.
3. Car and Tune lists are now sorted alphabetically.
4. Tidied up text in Help screen.
5. Renamed menu options on initial screen. You now load and save a car.
6. Added icons to the menu options on initial and tune screens.
7. Clear operation on the car screen now sets some parameters to the min value, rather than 0.
8. Removed 'tyre width' parameters from QuickTune screen.

Help make this app better:

I use this app to store my setups and it now works the way I like it, although there may still be bugs and things to improve. However, I need feedback on how you find the app. Is there anything (no matter how minor) that you find:
1. annoying
2. badly phrased,
3. badly displayed,
4. isn't intuitive
5. doesn't work as you expect it to

Keep the development suggestions coming and I'll see what I can do. Although developing this app is keeping me off the track!

Edit: I've added a poll to this thread: Some people have asked for the app to be made available via Android Market. To do this would cost me $25. To recoup this, I'd have to charge for the app, and Google very kindly take 30% of that! So, charging 50 cents for the app would mean I would be left with 35 cents after Google have their cut. So I'd have to shift 72 copies of the app to break even.

This is just a thought - I'm quite happy for the moment to leave the app as a free app on GTPlanet, but I would like your thoughts on the matter.

I'll buy it for sure but there is a twist on this "bring it to market" imo.
The app itself is great but the real deal about the app is that the calculations behind it are from Oppositelock ;)

Get it ;)

Can't wait for his new sheet tbh :P

I'm only trying to gauge opinion: I've no plans to bring the app to market but as it would cost me to put it on the market, then I would look for some way to recoup my losses. Any decision to put the app on the Market would be a joint one between me and oppositelock.

Ah, I was afraid of that!

With today's update, would the calculations remain the same? If so I should still be able to get the same tune.

I do have to change a few things, so if you want to try out the drift tune, input everything like normal, but like I said last post set the suspension level and balance fine tune to 1 and 10 respectively. I always check the box to use the F/R balance, which is super easy now that the ballast menu generates it automatically.

Then I always set my ride height to have 10 mm play from the minimum height, and set my camber and toe at 3.3, 1.5 and -.15 and .5. I use the rear toe to adjust for lift off oversteer. The lower the rear toe, the more lift off oversteer. I generally just leave everything else up to the app.

The reason I am so concerned about being able to generate the tune each time is that I've been drifting for 11+ years in video games, and have always been good with the controller. I don't mean just kind of good, I was at the top of every leaderboard on GTHD - but when I got my g27, I wasn't sable to do ANYTHING! I was so bad I was embarrassed to drift with no audience:PI had to relearn drifting it seemed. It turns out my tunes have just been terrible. The first time I experimented with changing the settings on the app my drifting ability with the wheel changed dramatically. It was a night and day difference. I had come close to completely giving up drifting with the wheel until then.

I'm rubbish at drifting, so I'm quite keen to try this. Many thanks for all the tips. Perhaps this is something I could build into the app? If you clicked 'Quicktune', you could then be given a choice: version 1 or version X of the calculations, with version 1 being the current calculations. Or simply have 'drift' as a choice and put in all your other settings in the generated tune as a starting point?

Like I've said before, I built this app as I thought it would be incredibly handy and oppositelock very kindly gave permission to put his calculations in. It seems a lot of others have found it handy too, even just as somewhere to store their tunes. Making it suit the needs of everyone will be an impossible task, but for something like this that you have discovered, others could find this a very useful feature.

Oh, and the update didn't change the calculations in any way. If I do revise the calculations, I'm seriously thinking of keeping the current set as an alternative.

So I thought I would offer to put up some of your android market costs or to donate through paypal or such. I want to see this on the market so everyone can use it and help improve it.

That is a kind offer, but I don't think the app is mature enough as yet (although it's not far off) and oppositelock and I would need to agree on how we would do this.

Plan on doing that. I'd hate for the new formulas to turn into a "New Coke" type fiasco. :dunce:

Ha, 'new coke'. Brilliant analogy! :)

I've kept version 1.1's calculations in as well - By ticking the 'Use optional settings' in the QuickTune screen makes the calculations use the front weight distribution. Otherwise the calcs are exactly as per spreadsheet 1.1.

Hi,

I just installed the app on my galaxy s (v2.1) and it works fine!

Thx,
