I find your app very usefull and handy...
Have installed it on my HTC Desire with Android 2.2, and works fine, including upgrade from previous version.

However, I think I have found a small bug... The app doesn't let me enter spring rate values above 15... (for current setting)

Keep up the good work :)

btw: It would be a nice addition to have an extra page for the tune (like 'transmission'), where you could enter what upgrades that are mounted for that tune...

I was just checking what MikaelK wrote and it seems ok to me, I can set all of the spring rates above 15. I have noticed one small little thing though. On the 2nd screen if you click the Rear Spring Rate in the adjust tune box it says Rear Ride Height instead.

I can't actually use the app at the moment because my ps3 has YLOD'd :(

Cheers

Mark

Did some more testing, and found the cause for the 'bug'...:
The value for 'spring rate' are being validated against the values of min/max ride height-values on the first page, instead of the min/max spring rate from that page ;)

(and I can confirm the typo in 'rear spring rate')

This is really good to hear! Glad it works well for you.

This is really good to hear: I'm glad it works well for you and thanks for letting me know.

And 👍 for finding and reporting the bug: I'd not found this one and probably wouldn't have given the cars I've been using in the app.

Regarding the extra page, do you mean a list of items that you could tick and untick? Things like exhaust, tyres, turbo, etc? It should be possible to do this but the program is growing all the time and it may be some time before I could do something about this. If you could perhaps post on here with a suggestion of layout and what to include, then we can see what can be done.

Thanks for spotting the typo Mark. And shame about the ps3. Mine went some months back. Had it repaired and it lasted about a month. I ended up shelling out for a new one :(.

Brilliant. This and Mark's feedback is exactly what I am after. I'll fix both issues in the next release.

I found another bug: If you move from the first screen to the tune screen, amend the default tune and save it, you then cannot reload that tune as the app crashes. If you click on the 'quicktune' button, then the problem doesn't seem to occur.

This seems to be caused by the quicktune settings not being initialised properly. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Can anyone replicate it?

Yes, it is in that direction I am thinking... I will give it a closer thought, in matter about content and layout...

:) only happy to help, while getting the benefit of using the app.!

I'm rubbish at drifting, so I'm quite keen to try this. Many thanks for all the tips. Perhaps this is something I could build into the app? If you clicked 'Quicktune', you could then be given a choice: version 1 or version X of the calculations, with version 1 being the current calculations. Or simply have 'drift' as a choice and put in all your other settings in the generated tune as a starting point?

Like I've said before, I built this app as I thought it would be incredibly handy and oppositelock very kindly gave permission to put his calculations in. It seems a lot of others have found it handy too, even just as somewhere to store their tunes. Making it suit the needs of everyone will be an impossible task, but for something like this that you have discovered, others could find this a very useful feature.

Oh, and the update didn't change the calculations in any way. If I do revise the calculations, I'm seriously thinking of keeping the current set as an alternative.

I think that would be an excellent idea. I wonder if other people would be willing to try out the settings to see if it would be a good tune, or even base point tune for them. I think adding a drift option would make a lot of people happy.

You're awesome man, thanks for putting in all this work. I'm downloading the new version in a minute.

It's certainly something I will include, in one guise or another. Especially as oppositelock would like the current calcs to remain (see his 'New Coke' comment).

I'm hoping to have an even new version out today or tomorrow. Same calculations, just a few bug fixes and a lot of cosmetic changes.

I guess there is no chance of an iPhone version, mainly due to dev kit cost?

Sorry, no. Dev kit costs $99 per year. Plus I'd have to learn a new language and I've no iPhone to test it on. You can always use oppositelock's original spreadsheet though, if you have the appropriate software on your phone.

Last time I looked, the spreadsheet was locked and I couldn't access the formulas.

You shouldn't need to access the formulas - Just use the input boxes on the left side to enter the details of your car.

I think adding a drift option would make a lot of people happy.

Funny thing, even though I've done some real life amateur drift events in my old S13, I've never gotten into serious GT drifting. I don't do specific drift tunes (I just use cheap tires on regular tunes) so I'm not sure what people would want from a dedicated drift setting other than a touch more oversteer. In that case, it would seem redundant to have a drift option when there is the balance fine tune function. I know the old fine tune didn't work that well, and it's one of the things I'm trying to improve in the next version.

I was actually just referring my experiment while actually using the app, I decided to set oversteer to full, and then supplied my own alignment and height settings, but the app, thanks to your calculations, spits out a PERFECT drift tune every time. I would say I've done 30+ FR cars, and by selecting specific pre sets, and then adding my alignment settings they are ALL exactly what I need. What I meant was perhaps a part of the app that does that for you, still using your calculations.

With that said, thanks! I can't tell you how useful they have been for ALL my GT5 needs:)

New Release: Version 0.75.49 Beta
See the first post for the download link and instructions.

I've only tested this on my HTC Desire with my current tune database. Please let me know if it works or doesn't work for you.

Fixes:
1. If just after loading the app, you move from the first screen to the tune screen, amend the default tune and save it, then try to reload that tune, the app crashes.
Confirmed by gt5pr0.
2. The value for 'spring rate' on the 'Tune' screen are being validated against the values of min/max ride height-values on the first page, instead of the min/max spring rate. Found by MikaelK.
3. On the 'Tune' screen, if you click the Rear Spring Rate in the adjust tune box it says Rear Ride Height instead. Found by MacMark.
4. Some incorrect values found for the included set of cars. Found by MacMark.

Improvements/Changes:
1. Changed the transmission screen once again to include a tick box: When ticked, only the top speed is shown. Useful when you have only adjusted the top speed and don't want to enter all the individual gear ratios.
2. Lots of minor cosmetic changes and corrections (punctuation, spelling and wording).
3. Fixed the 'Use optional settings' on the quicktune screen so that it actually enables and disables the 'Front weight distribution' setting.
4. Changed the way torque is entered: You can now specify the measurement and it will be converted to ftlb.
5. Removed wheelbase and added redline RPM to the front screen: Isn't used as yet, but may be used in later versions.
6. Reformatted the menu system once again.
7. Included an automatic function to fix tunes which were affected by the bug (1) above.
8. Included an automatic function to set the redline RPM to 9000 for cars where it is not set.
9. Started work on adding to the 'Notes' screen. Now renamed to 'Misc', this will eventually include settings for aero and ballast. These don't work at the moment but this will be enabled in a future version.
10. Included a system to remember and reload the last car you had loaded.

Help make this app better:

I use this app to store my setups and it now works the way I like it, although there may still be bugs and things to improve. However, I need feedback on how you find the app. Is there anything (no matter how minor) that you find:
1. annoying
2. badly phrased,
3. badly displayed,
4. isn't intuitive
5. doesn't work as you expect it to

Keep the development suggestions coming and I'll see what I can do. Although developing this app is keeping me off the track!

And I found another bug. When you save your car (first screen), the Front Default Spring Rate isn't saved correctly. Instead the value of the Rear Default Spring Rate is saved.

Any comments on the latest version?
- Does it run on your phone?
- Is it useful?
- Is it easy to use?

Downloaded and installed new version on my Galaxey S and it works fine. I have lost my saved tunes though.

Strange: You shouldn't have lost your tunes.
Do you know which version you were running before you moved to the current one?

The version before current, i downloaded your app for the 1st time 3 days ago.

Great App by the way 👍

The only way I can think this happened is if your Galaxy asked you to uninstall the previous version.

What method did you use to install? Did you use a file manager?

I've put up version 0.75.57 for download. This is simply a bug fix for the Front Default Sping Rate problem detailed above, although there are some cosmetic changes too.

This will be the last update for a while.

Really glad to hear that you like the app and all the 'improvements'. :)

I've not got a slider phone, but from what I can tell, your phone slides out in landscape mode. I've designed the app to only run in portrait mode, so that may have something to do with it. Although I've also found someone else who found this behaviour with one of their apps. It may be something I need to handle in the app. I'll add this to the list of things to do!

Thanks again for the feedback.

Found another bug.

If you clear the car setup and then create a new car setup, when you save it the name at the top of the screen is never changed to reflect the car's name.

I found a bug: when changing torque values the plus 1 and 10 buttons don't work.

Also noticed this with Spring Rate.

Found another problem as well.

Clean install and went true all settings and noticed i was unable to modify Front and Rear Spring Rate, error generated Value is out of permitted range.

Sometimes this seems to be gone when you have generated a QuickTune and are send back to component screen.

Yesterday it was gone but tested it a few minutes ago and it gave me same error.

I hope my explanation is a bit clear.

It never will.

Did the same thing here and not even saw your post yet, in some occasions it did change but I’m unable to reproduce.

When you saved your file and the name didn't changed, and you modify some things and do another save/update the newly used save name is present so that's good ;)

Strange: This works on my phone with the latest version. Can you check which version you are running please?

EDIT: Just noticed there is a maximum value on the torque field of 200. I'll fix this in the next release.

The second screen (what I refer to as the 'Tune' screen) validates its values from those you've input on the very first screen (the car setup screen). If the second screen will not let you change the value, then you should check the first screen for the min and max values you have for that component.

I hope my explanation is a bit clear.

A quicktune will generate values based on the settings in the first screen. Just tested this and if I leave the first screen as all zeros, then quicktune will generate me a setup with the ride height and springs set to zero. The dampers, arb, etc will have meaningful values in them.

I hope I've understood what you are telling me. If not, please let me know what settings you are entering into the first screen so I can recreate the problem. Also, please check you are runing the latest (0.75.57) version.
