Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Honeycomb (3.1): installs fine but won't open unfortunately. I'll have to give it a try on my Evo and see what's what.

Hmm. I can only test it on a virtual machine running Honeycomb and it did seem to work on it.
Does it simply force close as soon as your try to start or do you see the program starting?

I can see it trying to start so I suppose that is better than just dropping. I just got a big update that Samsung pushed, which is mostly Touch Wiz, but I will give it another go tonight.

Edit: Still no go. It does load a black screen and rotates to portrait view but hangs and force closes. I have a screen cap of the error that I can post if it will help.

I think I've found the cause of this error: For each screen layout in the app, Android require several versions, determined by the size of the screen on your phone/tablet. There is an error in the layout for the extra large screens.

Hopefully I'll have a fix up over the weekend for this.

I updated my 1 year old HTC Desire to Gingerbread today: Before doing this I exported all my cars and backed up my tunes. Once the update was complete, I reinstalled the app, imported my cars and restored my tunes. All works as it should.

If anyone else is doing this update, I recommend the app MyBackup Pro. This backed up all my apps, contacts, photos, etc from the phone and restored them after the update (the update wipes the phone completely). Some apps lose their settings but on the whole it is worth it to get gingerbread.

Minor update

I think I've fixed the problem with large screens, but this needs testing on a real life system. There's only so much you can do on an emulator :)

Working fine now as far as I can tell. 👍 I'll play with it and see what happens.

Any resources you would recommend for learning the Java for Android development? I've been muddling through a few books and haven't made any real progress yet.

Thanks for letting me know. I noticed the formatting is a bit strange on the large screen so I'll have a go at redoing some of this - Any suggestions you have are most welcome.

Just to let you all know that I'm currently working on incorporating oppositelock's gear calculations into the app. You will need to ensure that the torque, weight and HP figures are correct for your cars though. Redline won't be used and I may replace this on the first screen with the front weight distribution figure - Any thoughts on this?

Hi, this is a great app! I just install on my Samsung Galaxy SII (I9100), and it seems ok for now. Will let you know if I find anything unusual. Thanks.

Glad you like it and thanks for letting me know it works on your phone.

Do let me know what you think of it - Especially what you (would) use it for.

Also let me know what features you like, what you dislike and also what you would like to see incorporated in future versions. If there is anything you find cumbersome to use, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I should have an update in the next day or two for you all.
Actually, I have just put up version 0.78.28 for download.

This includes a version of oppositelock's gear calculator plus a few minor tweaks and fixes.

Do let me know what you think.

Fixed: If you delete the current car and then exit the app, when you reload the app would crash as it was looking for the default car.
Fixed: Bug when saving a car setup - A zero would be added to the number of gears a car has. Somehow I don't fancy driving a car with 50 gears.
Fixed: The Notes screen would sometime have invalid characters in the values.
Tweak:Some minor changes to the layout of some screens. Was also experimenting with the layouts for the large and extra large screens.

Version 0.78.47 is now available for download.
This hasn't had much testing so I've left version 0.78.28 available just in case there are any problems.

The new version has the 'Parts' section working and data can be saved with the car settings.
I've also got rid of the Redline RPM figure on the front screen, replacing this with the front weight distribution percentage. You'll need to check this for each car otherwise the default of 50% will be used.
If you have tunes saved, when you reload them the front weight distribution figure is loaded with the tune. Beware as this could vary from that on the front screen.

As always, please let me know how you get on.

Cannot believe that no-one noticed that turbo is missing from the 'parts' screen.
Is anyone using this screen?
Is anyone using this app? :)

I've not tried the new version yet, been too busy to get on the PS3. I'll try and find some time tomorrow. To be honest though I don't think the parts screen will be of use to me as I normally tune the car to the maximum anyway. Maybe in future if I need lower tuned models of the same car it will help.

Thanks for keeping it up to date though!

Mark

Hi Mark and thanks for your reply.
Glad to hear you are using the app.

Version 0.78.48 is now available for download

Only change from 0.78.47 is the inclusion of the Turbo on the 'Parts' screen.

Any problems, comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

Also, oppositelock has version 3 of his Quick Tune spreadsheet in the offing. Once he has released it, and with his permission, I will look to include it in the app.

Can you write one for the iPhone?
I'm guessing it's easier for Android with opensource?

Sorry, Apple want $99 for the developer tools which I simply cannot afford. The Android tools are free.

I've also just discovered that I need to have a Mac (which I don't) as the developer kit isn't available for Windows. Mac is that exclusive.

Just to let you all know that I am currently updating the app to include version 3 of oppositelock's Quick Tune spreadsheet.
It should be ready in a few days.

Version 0.79.17 is now available for download

This version includes oppositelock's Quick Tune version 3 calculations. I have left the version 1 and 2 calculations in place as well.

One other addition is an extra button in some dialog boxes. This will appear when you are entering one of a pair of values and will show the other value of the pair. e.g. When entering the Front ride height, the extra button will show the value of the Rear ride height. Tapping on the button will enter that value. I find this useful when entering details of a new car or recording a tune from scratch.

I've also done a wee bit of work on the way the app displays screens on the larger smartphones and tablets. This work is by no means complete but if anyone has one of these devices, I'd love to hear from you.

As always, all feedback is very welcome.

Thanks for all the great work RDAardvark.

One thing I noticed was that Supercharger wasn't available on the parts screen. I know I'm being lazy here, but is the speed used in the gear calculator mph or kph (i've always assumed mph).

Either way though, this app runs well on the SGS. Your efforts on this are really appreciated (by those that have had the opportunity) :)

Thanks for the feedback kebabs. I guess I missed the supercharger but I'll add it in for the next release.

The top speed on the Transmission screen isn't used in the gear calculator: Only the parameters displayed on the gear calculator screen are used. So the top speed can be either mph or kph, it doesn't matter. It's only there so you can record it for your car's tune.

Think I've found a little problem here, just doing the new Ferrari TT and working on my 458i tune. I've saved a tune as 'sports hard, 1250kg, ADDED BALLAST'. I needed to adjust the tune and now when I reload it I think the length of the tune file name is making the screen scale to that width so I can only see part of the Front settings column and none of the rear settings. I'll try and get a screen grab if you need one.

Cheers

Mark

Just re-saved the same tune with a shorter name and can see both columns now :)

Hi Mark and thanks for finding that error. I've managed to recreate it on my Desire and there is a simple fix.

I'll correct this tonight and post an updated version.

Thanks for the feedback!

When looking at the save-feature, you might consider adding a rename-function for the tune...

I also use the name of the tune to indicate how it is, but if I want to rename I have to save as new, then delete the old afterwards...
Just minor feature-request 👍

Just another little thing I noticed on the v3.0 spreadsheet from Oppositelock was the new aero settings. Will that be added to this version of the app at some point?

I'm having so much fun using these tunes for the new time trials. I've said it before and I'll say it again, thank you both for all the time you've put in to this and then sharing it with the rest of us!

Cheers

Mark

I like the fact that you can change a tune and then save it under a new name, keeping the original as well. I'll see about incorporating this though, but I'm not quite sure how it would be implemented.

Ideas on a postcard please!

I purposely left the aero out of this release as there is nowhere to store the max values for front and rear aero. In order to include them I'll need to revise the front screen and find somewhere to store the two new values without invalidating everyone's current car database.

Version 0.79.20 is now available for download

Fixed the problem with the car/tune name: If you use very long names for either, the front and rear columns would disappear from the screen.

I've also added a 'Delete old tune' option to the 'Save Tune' dialog. Useful if you simply want to rename the tune.

And the supercharger can now be selected under the 'Turbo' section of the 'Parts' screen.

Latest version runs with no issues, so far...
Nice way to do the 'rename'-feature of tunes 👍

Thx for sharing this cool tool with us!
