GT5 Update 2.09

bs13
I finally rolled my Nascar racing online this morning. I've been on my sides, and nose plenty of times after the update but this is the first time I was on my roof. When it happened the car must have ghosted. It put me in the center of the track and the other cars ran through me which surprised me just as much as rolling the car did.

Yeah it seems as if anything abnormal happens it will reset you. I did a wheely the other day and when i ran out of road I hit the wall with the bumper really high up on the fence. A few seconds later it reset it.

It is so fun now on the wings of the dragon course though. Dirty shuffle racing yesterday and I got the 2002 audi rs6 avant when i went over the jump at about 120mph the front end plummeted to the ground and was on the nose. Then it started to rotate and was on two wheels for about 1/4 of a mile then finally got all four on the ground

LOL, we were also dirty racing at the time I rolled the car. Considering I do it every night I was amazed it was the first time I saw a roll and a reset.

I have a friend say that this update "ruined" the jump track he uses. I guess the front end comes up more than it did before. Everyone was adding weight and aero to correct the problem.

Ha

So, we can confirm that roll over is possible in online mode as well as offline. The main difference is the car will automatically ghost in online mode.

I guess I will have to test this out.

The only thing that will make me happier about this update is if we could see each other doing wheelies/stoppies/roll overs. Imagine 16 people doing stoppies that look like my profile picture. Maybe they might fix that. Fingers crossed

Yes! I want this issue to be adressed too. SambaBuses for the win!

I was drifting an old 1970 dodge challenger and it flips now when I drift. I love it when it does that.

Yes you can roll a car onto its roof, but cars still don't pitch and roll in a realistic manner when your tyres are on the ground. Yay.
Suspension that soaks up bumps like it's made of sponge cake, tyres that deliver 1.5g in lateral grip, but the 1500kg car corners completely flatly, with almost no body roll. Changes direction with no visible dynamic effect on the body at all, and accelerates off the line with no rear squat.

(There's something like 5 cars that have half realistic body movement, but even they have a vague wishy washy feel from the tyres, which grip like crazy but don't seem to have any "bite". There's never any grip-slip-grip-slip caused by hopping/bouncing of body/wheel).

It's like they haven't even watched motor racing. Somebody send pd a Best Motoring dvd so they know what a cornering car looks like. (Maybe then they would also see their smoke generation parameters are ridiculous too and give me an option to turn that ugly far-too-eagerly-generated nonsense off).
Still, at least we can roll the cars onto their roofs now.

That must be a simplification (less data) so online is still playable while using the more complex offline model.

So just not to read a million pages about this, the only (major) problem is that you can't see other people rolling over or wheelie online when they are doing so?

Yep watch this video I made... Same tune (my Endo aka stoppie tune) watch what happens I am in the black one. Also he sees the same thing on his screen but vise versa

Same goes for wheelies and rolls

I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but now it is possible to play course creator tracks post Spec 2.0 in 2 player mode now! :) just make sure it doesn't have weather
but time change surprisingly works

is this online? I must try this

Yep online

I agree the whole thing has to do with bandwidth. They don’t send all of the car’s coordinates. They probably only send GPS type coordinates and which way the car is pointed.
Yeah i was wondering about that

Why are people obsessed with rolling a car online?
Because come on it's fun

I miss driving in GT5. :grumpy:

pCARS is starting to surpise me though. It's a good alternative til the final version releases.

Looking forward to pCARS too but current system requirements are too high and I don`t plan spending much with my pc soon.

So, I`ll wait the PS3 version.

Surely pCars will be a PS4 title now seeing as PS4 will 95%certainly be released at the end of next year or basically a year from now?
I'd rather see it, than have it run on PS3 with poor textures and dodgy framerate!

Especially as you say PC version takes a lot of requirements so imagine what will have to be paired down on PS3 and they may even have to drop it to 30fps!!!

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but thought I would post it anyway.

Found a glitch after this update that needs to be fixed. Happens in Course Maker mode, if you click "Test Drive" and then select a car until the screen comes up to select tires, ABS, etc. If you hit "O" to back out of that screen, it locks up and you have to quit the game for it to work again.

Had this happen to me for the 3rd time tonight when I was testing a track that I REALLY wanted. Now I lost it. :(

Happened with me too. Very, very annoying.

Ever since update 2.09, I've notice cars now have considerable amount of snap-oversteer. Is this even realistic at all? Would anyone on here with real-life experience in racing like to give their thoughts on whether before or after 2.09 was more realistic? So if I were to counter-steer my car in real life during an oversteer situation the way I do in GT5 2.08 and below, would it behave the same way?

Depends on what tire you are talking about. I mainly drift and 2.09 feels more realistic than in previous updates

Not to mention what aides are on! Without them, it feels pretty good (normal cars), a little grippy but good.

I've only ever had to counter steer in the winter, my car doesn't snap, it goes gradually.

Edit: I've been on the track with my Maxima, [brothers] Mazda 6Speed and Mazda 3 - very often (in the summer months).

Well I think one way to easily test out what I mean is take your car to a straightaway and attempt to maintain straight-line drifting. It's just becoming harder to guide the car now due to it being so snappy compared to previous versions. I don't know maybe I'm doing it wrong or something
