GT5 Update 2.09

Just tried the HSV and I guess it's now closer to what it's supposed to sound like, even though I just got used to and actually liked the wrong sound.
Anyway, drove it on the Nordschleife and it started to rain when I noticed a flaw with its wiper (in cockpit view), the rain drops move across the windscreen like they do on a Standard car and the wiper does nothing but move without function.
Has this been mentioned yet? As I can't recall it and as I perhaps didn't try it yet in the rain before, I assume this has nothing to do with this update.

I just tried on spa and nurb weather change with time/weather and its ok here in HSV! Wipers worked fine too.
When i first tried to update to 2.09 it beeped twice and shut off my PS3, I have heard similar reports, so maybe it has corrupted on your system, try re-installing, you may have to go all the way back to 1.00 unless you have a 2.08 save?

I can't put my finger on what has changed in the 2.09 update, i thought it was the tyres didn't seem so hard and spin in 1st and 2nd like they were "on ice" but i just put up a 2.08 ghost of 458 italia and chased in 2.09 but the 2.08 version actually looked more planted and i struggled to keep up. (Stock car and tyres SH)
I think they have just softened the suspension to make it feel like the flex is in the tyres abit like Forza but i can't be sure.
Braking distance seems longer and harder to judge too!

Happy birthday pal. And we wait for a DLC now that we know 101MB update file is large enouph and includes graphic models of tracks or cars or both. 👍

I would think 101MB is a bit small for DLC but apparently there was a Chevrolet Corvette "black mask" '14 model in there. Who would've guessed.

The thing is that there's an update before every DLC release...Right?

This makes it seem like it was definitely meant to be a teaser.

Was online a lot this weekend, and I gotta say what an incredible turnaround.
Recent experiences were full of black screens and disconnects. Not one problem this weekend. NOT ONE!

That said, I'm glad every game doesn't take two years to work out the kinks.

After finishing my Nürburgring 24h race, I tried updating to 2.09.

After doing the ps3 firmware update(successfully) I started GT5. It finds the 2.09 Update.
After I click OK, the screen goes black and after about 5 seconds the PS3 beebs and restarts. Tried it 3 times now and it won't do the update....
Can you give me any advice? Never had any issues before....except a broken PS3....

Will your PS3 boot up? Or does it beep 3 times and shut off? If so, you probably have the YLOD.

It happened to me first time i tried and i've seen other posts saying the same.
Just keep trying it will work!

No I haven't and currently can't but I do hope it was just an odd glitch, but are you sure the rain effects are the same as other Premium cars?
By which I mean the wiper actually wipes (and not simply moves only) and leaves raindrops on the part it doesn't wipe?

The same experience here. Three times tried to update, fourth case was the other answer, the game started normally and after reboot it went smoothly. Very scary just few months since my old PS3 RLOD

Anyone notice a difference in mirrors in cockpit view? They seem crisper and the curves reflected in them are not as angular.

How hard would it be to put a counter in the game to see how many cars you have in the game out of all the available cars(discounting dupes)? I cant be bothered counting all the cars I have to check against how many are in the game...

Yeah it was well and properly functioning. The rain was thick and heavy on the windscreen at speed, but when stopped it was obvious that the wiper was working and the water was still standing at the edges.

Try doing a ps3 system update from the left hand side of the xmb before you try updating gt5. If it finds you need to update then it should work after that. Worked for me and many others.

Yes, stand with your left leg in the air, put a spoon in your mouth, close one eye and blink the other 12 times, count to 10, turn PS3 off, run to the bottom of your garden and back, wet your hair, lick your index finger, turn PS3 back on and now try!

To digress here a bit from talk of physics and sound.

Has anyone else noticed a tremendous amount of slowdown for page loads? Ever since installing 2.09 it seems like things take, on average, about 3x as long to load. The game has frozen up multiple times and even got stuck on startup once. I know GT5 has a lot of data to load but this is kind of ridiculous. I know it's not a performance issue because my hard drive has plenty of space left on it and I have experienced no other issues with the PS3 in general.

Any insight into this? I searched this entire thread and checked other threads... I didn't see much. Apologies if I missed it.

Sorry, I misspoke. Data loads. Menus, races... everything really. It's all moving much slower for me since I did the update. I experience this with no other game or app.

From my experience, the loading screens have always been hit or miss. Times they are quick and times they are slow. But I've experienced that since launch. I guess the slowest loading screen for me would be loading a friends lounge. Can take 5 seconds or 1 minute. Maybe its a connection issue. Not sure.

I wish I could say the same. I have never had any slowness issues (aside from a fluke now and then) until the new update. Since then it's all the time. The game has even frozen up and rebooted my PS3 at least... 3 times I can think of. It's maddening too because I'm an IT guy and I should be able to find another solution other than "roll back the update". I don't even think you can do that anyway on PS3 without deleting the entire "game data" file.

PD broke the game in many ways.

Winter coming seems they ensured we had plenty of plow from the cars now. Terrible update. If I had an optional game to race on. I'd ditch this game till they fix the wretched physics.

Okay good, I'm not crazy after all. Haha. I won't ditch the game but it is frustrating.

No. I had a similar problem. My problem was solved after i cleaned the disc.

Finally Gran Turismo works for me again. Cleaning the cd did not help but setting the Internet connection from wireless to Ethernet did.
I can't believe that it was that easy, but neither can I believe that the connection method can produce so much trouble....
Now I can frustrate myself with that NSX challenge

I finally rolled my Nascar racing online this morning. I've been on my sides, and nose plenty of times after the update but this is the first time I was on my roof. When it happened the car must have ghosted. It put me in the center of the track and the other cars ran through me which surprised me just as much as rolling the car did.
