GT5 Update 2.09

animal
everytime i tried to apply the update my FGT would reset itself and the ps3 would restart. Disconnected the FGT and used just a controller and everything seems to have went fine. anyone else experience this?

Yh but it happened once with the DFGT disconnected too. My PSN connection seemed quite unstable today so I presumed it was to do with that.

another comparison video which failed to upload hours ago. here it is, comparing the engine sound via the external replay.

left channel = v2.08
right channel = v2.09

My notes:

HSV is a lot better than before, now I can actually stomach the sound of the thing... Also rolled it online in a Trial Mountain race, appears you can finally do that (in doing so, my game froze, but then fixed itself.)

EDIT: Viewed the replay, it does NOT show my car rolling - only going on two wheels before it froze and fixed itself. No idea what is going on.

You rolled it? Literally? I cannot even get mine close to rolling.

Ignore early post...

- The [Tire/Fuel Consumption] settings under [Event Settings] of the Online Lounge can now be set in four levels; "None", "Normal", "Fast", and "Very Fast".

For me... this Function is too late... this should Applied on Ver. 1.10 era....

The 2.09 version sound real close to the real thing

Changeable tyre wear is great! Was in a lobby last night with it set to Very Fast, Lambo's off the Recommended list at Laguna Seca over 8 laps, it was a mini-epic, awesome!

:dopey:

How fast the tires worn out with very fast setting ? Did it worn out completely after 8 laps ? This might be good for sprint or short endurance races ( 20 laps with a pit stop or two ).

I did some testing for an up coming WRS-Online Special Event (Toyota YellowHat YMS Supra '05 @ Twin Ring Motegi - Road Course with Racing Medium Tires) and the new fuel consumption / tire wear settings appear to fall out like this:

Normal = 1x (~2.8 L / Lap)
Fast = 2x (~5.6 L / Lap)
Very Fast = 4x (~10.8 L / Lap)

Those are fairly accurate calculations for fuel consumption. The tire wear (more subjective, subject to driver error/variance) seemed to follow suit with those rate multipliers very closely.

The "Normal" setting appears, for this combo at least, to be about equal to the situation just prior to 2.09. The "Fast" setting reminds me of the tire wear from earlier in 2012. "Very Fast" is probably only meant for short 15-20 minute races as the car was burning 10+ L of fuel per lap and by the time the tires got up to an optimal temperature there was already some noticeable wear.

Results may vary with other tire compounds.

Do you know what the actual mpg or litres per lap is in real life?

From my viewpoint it did, but then froze. When I went to view the replay of the race after the game had unfrozen and I had finished 3rd out of 8, there's no rollover - just some heavy lag and it going on two wheels. Was bumped by the Supra behind me, which is why I pegged the turn.

Still no idea what actually IS going on - my one friend saved the replay from his angle, maybe he can show me what his is doing.

If you read my previous posts. I have shown that if you are on two wheels or doing a wheely or stoppy your friend WILL NOT see it. If he does it you WILL NOT see it. It is the only disappointing thing i have to say about the update

I'm sure someone has noticed this by now, last night my girl was driving my BMW M5 tuned to 500pp I put on RS tires for her so it would be more fun. She was driving at Grand Vally East she was going thru the esses after the 180 turn off the front strait. She would tap the brakes at the turn going in to the esses and when she would begin to turn right and the car would literally flip over like a 26ft U-Haul. I was able to get the car to flip also after she did it 3 laps in a row. I did notice that she was braking in a odd point but still a car that's dropped -15 all around should not flip like that I will try a few other cars at this same point and see what happens. I will also see if this happens on SH and SS tires. PD has created more problems yet again :banghead:

Racing Soft = Arcadey Unreal Grip = jumps, rolls and chit. Face them as "funny omg supagrip drag tires". LOL

The grip levels are just too damned high.

Advice for life: use less grippy tires, you'll smile more and become a better driver :)

No idea about real fuel consumption rates. When I said 1x, 2x, 3x it was using PD factor and "normal" as the baseline (1x).

My guess is none of the settings for fuel consumption will match real life, except by chance as there are so many cars.

In any case good to now have some choice, although for any event I organize that's 45 min plus I'm probably sticking to "normal".

I put the tires on for my girl. Anyways like I said a car that I normally run that has never flipped before all of a sudden flips. And I have run his car on SH-RS depending on the room setup (if everyone else runs RS so will I, same for SH)

Its the new physics engine I'm just saying what I noticed and I am trying other cars (as we speak) as well as tire combinations to see if it is just the RS. And in real life some Racing leagues use super softs for tires. PD needs to go back to the drawing board and redo the entire physics engine not try to repair it and mess something up every time.💡

Oh I see... well, try to reduce them to Racing Medium or Racing Hard until they fix? 💡

We can save an Online Race replay if we don't complete the race. Not sure if this is new and it would suck if I missed this like I did with the Mic off = personal bgm. It helps me now that I don't have to do complete "sessions" only using a preset number of laps.

Always been there dude.

That is not new. We've been doing that in the WRS 2.4 Hour Enduros if I understand what you are saying.

Yep. It even says in description somewhere how driving car more aggressively and in higher revs will also affect the fuel consumption.

That is true.
I was racing in JGTS 2 this Sunday at LaSarthe, and I did some serious fuel tests during practice.
In one test, I used 5,25 liters in 1 lap.
And in another, I used 7,75 liters in 1 lap.

Throttle input, Short shifting and draft can save you a good amount of fuel.

anyone have problems downloading the latest update? 2.09. mine stops at 3% and I get a connection error (even though there's no connection error). I did the system update with no problems connecting

Try hardwiring. I had the same issue until I hardwired to do it.

Apart from the improved sound of the Honda, which is much apreciated, I reckon that the driving on La Sarthe has become a bit bumpier and slightly less grippy, or so I think...
I gave my 458 a test run on S/H and I found out it takes more effort from me to drive competitively.

Well after 2 to 3 month without playing. (I´m playing Planetside 2 Beta on PC and some more games)
I must say that it feels a little bit better than I remembered. At least in the replay I saw the car that "jumps" a little bit more which means that something has changed in the suspension. (probably, I am not 100% sure)

About offline in my case, I had one of the best races against IA ever today at Nürburgring Nordschleife.
IA was setted to 10, car HSV-010, Gearbox top speed to 319km/h (at the straight I got 281km/h which to me looks realistic and the car feels as it should, using the 6 gears), No aids, real feel, tyre degradation and fuel, ABS 1 (because I forgot to use it at 0), Tyre: Racing Hard. And 2 laps because I wanted to test.

I won at the very last corner and not sure if it is just me but the AI behaves "better" than before. I noticed that when I tried to pass them, they actually blocked me without using brakes or slowing down with no sense. (remember when you were close to them and they were like afraid of you and lift off the gas to let you pass? Well now I noticed that they keep going and when you pass them, they try to pass you again and fast)

This actually surprised me because I remember that when you passed the AI, they never tried to even follow you or pass...but this time when I passed them and wanted to recover the correct line, they literally put the car inside the curve or in one place to try to pass me.
At the end of Nürburgring before the straight at those curves, it was amazing how the AI paid me back and then I had to do it again. Also during the straight we were head to head until the latest curves. It tried to pass me again and almost made me loose control but I had the inside of the latest curve so I could win.

(cool story bro...but it was cool since I stopped playing and then went back and this happened...I recorded the race too, haha)

Is this other of those "placebo" effects or the AI seems to be a little bit "better"? Not faster but less idiotic at the time you try to pass them.

Yep... I am doing some races in the Supercar Festival seasonal event and its been harder to win the races with a bone stock MP4-12C... I even saw some ai struggling for some traction in a C5 Vette and Ferrari 430. Interesting...
