GT5 Update 2.09

There's a very good reason why SimonK is on my ignore list.

With ignoring Simon you're missing a great amounts of fun, party and good time.

Don't do that to yourself, it is such unique treat to read his comments and elaboration on various subjects :)

In a way I feel kind of sorry for him as he is clearly jealous of those of us who do actually enjoy playing gt5.

This physics change could be HUGE. Anyone able to confirm the degree it has changed?

It feels like offline, all my tunes that were previously broken are currently working like a dream.

It could be that I just lost my rhythm for a while and I'm just getting it back, or the change is that significant.

I couldn't tell you, but for me it's revitalised online driving

This encourages me. All I want is parity between offline and online, I don't care whether that favours pre 2.09 offline or online, just make both the same..!!

Like others, I'm equally frustrated by the vague nature of the change log. We need more clarity...

Maybe it's just me. But it seems like the other cars sound slightly better as well, not just the Weider

Is this just my imagination or has anybody else noticed anything different?

Yeah I think there has been some tweaking to the sound. I did a 2 hour race last night (monday night) in the Stealth Model NSX SuperGT race car around Special Stage Route 5 then a good 20 minutes at Deep Forest. Firing up Deep Forest again after the update, the car did sound slightly different.

I never had any issue with online/offline tunes, but I think online play does feel more like offline. I just felt coming between offline and online, previously, the cars were a bit more mushy online. Where offline you would bounce off bumps more so. I think it feels more like that, where bumps are more noticeable, not absorbed so easily.

As I said, coming from Deep Forest just a day ago, the whole first sector after the first hairpin feels different and much more difficult to tackle as the road crests and dips.

I just finished a lengthy session online with some mates and the last track we were on was no chicane lemons.

The bumps were like massive potholes, where as before the patch I never noticed them so much, I usually take a line I know isn't as bumpy and I was still getting thrown around a fair bit, was really scary to be honest, though that's because I get so immersed into my driving that I start feeling like it's my life on the line.. but that's just me.

I'm getting off topic, I agree with you, the bumps are definitely more noticible unlike before this update

I'm glad that PD are finally acknowledging the sound issue and have hopefully fixed the Honda HSV's sound. I now have renewed excitement for GT6, hopefully they will have fixed the sounds. Good work PD.

I noticed that the nose tends to dip a lot more at Flugplatz on Nurb, before the update most cars would just keep flying straight, if I recall correctly, This should encourage people to be a bit more careful setting up for that jump, :D

The partial rollover is definitely a change. I tried rolling over a Lotus Elan at Trial Mountain, but there seemed to be an invisible force keeping the car from completely rolling over. About 45 degrees of roll like someone else said.

Looks like they changed the HSV cockpit cam position a bit. It's easier to see past the bar and line the car up with the left side of the track. Polyphony seem to have addressed all the major concerns that people had with the Honda. I say good on 'em.

I thought something was different with it today , really happy as it means I will use the car a lot more now. Well if I can ever pull myself away from my Stealth GTR-GT500 that is :dopey:

I am 19 hours into my 24h Nurburgring race with my XJ13. I have ran a perfect race so far, 3mins ahead. I added update 2.09 today. Now, I resumed my race, then went into pits and put 50liters in it. When I pull out, it shows as empty and I am stuck at 50mph. I have no idea what to do. Is there a way to delete updates?

It was the offline physics that were unrealistic compared to the online, at least with online we had a realistic level oversteer (see video). If the online is the same as offline now, that's gonna be a game killer for me & many others. I hated the watered down/dumbed down offline physics on release day, & still can't stand them now.

For instance; offline, the Caterham on Suzuka East was plractically glued to the road , even on Comfort Softs. Online, it slid around more like it would IRL, even on Sports Hard. I drove a similar car, a Caterham 7 Super Light on hard slicks at a track day in 2009, & even that slid around! The offline physics are most definately less realistic than the pre 2.09 online physics.

Did a little test earlier with the HSV at indy road and found almost no difference between the handling, online vs offline.
Offline - 1:24.4
Online - 1:24.6
Such a small difference that it could only be down to me taking a slightly better line, breaking longer or earlier than a different set of physics. Hurrah!, and it only took then nearly two years, lol

2.08, 2.09, 2.10

Remedial maths required :)

These are the GT5 updates so far, software updates do not need any maths, they could change version number any time when they wanted to. PD could release spec 3.0 earlier, it does not have to follow past trend to reach x.13 rev.

Aaaarrrggghhh!!! Resumed an 24H Nurburgring in an alternate profile, 115 laps into it and rain: there's a max speed of 80 km/h.

Same problem! My car holds no fuel now!:grumpy:

Yes. Lots of people are reporting resuming endurance races after the update and getting ridiculous fuel consumption. I can guess that because they've modified fuel consumption on some cars, there's a coding conflict between the rates you started at and now and it's manifesting in this way.

Hope that helps.

With their recent work on the online and this amazing patch, it seems as if they are putting their all into GT5 to get it rounded up as a finished game. So chances are Spec 3 may be just around the corner and I can imagine that would likely be the last big change till GT6.

They wouldn't want people still complaining about GT5 as broken or incomplete in the run up to GT6.

I feel the sound update wasn't needed, and that they could have put that work towards something else. Like not being allowed to ban driving aids online.
