GT5 Update 2.09

What is this?

If i start GT5 up, i see the new update, fine, install it.

It loads for a while, and then it beeps 2 times and it restarts again.

What's this???

edit :NVM, it's downloading(after 10 times trying..). But it's still weird.

Dr.Boss.
Can anyone confirm an improvement in 3D?

Yes, it looked better when I used it but I also have to mess with the settings as it appears they have changed.

Seems like the people who prefer the new online physics switch only prefer it because it's easier than the old one... less body roll, less throttle modulation etc. Cars always seemed to have less of a personality offline than they did online.

Well a long time ago someone told me "the fuel only ran out while wheels are spinning". I always knew that the fuel ran out while car isn't moving and reving it up or idle. Well by changing the tire and fuel consumption VERY FAST to prove him wrong. Man did he feel crappy about telling me I was full of crap.

here's a side by side audio comparison which I just compiled.
i separated the audio feeds. left is old. right is new.

enjoy :)

Good small patch.

I noticed these changes:

1) The "select all" function works fine again. (Only items currently visible on the page could be selected before the patch)

2) The sound doesn't mix when changing camera views during a race. (Sometimes the sound from the cabin became mixed with the sound from the chase camera view)

I'm going to start keeping track of how many people are getting upset over two posts someone made in this thread.

That's unexpected. Seems so hidden to be noticed by PD who some think aren't listening or don't play their own game :).

can someone confirm that cars can now be rolled online? i had mine up on two wheels which hasn't really happened online before...

\/\/
In my lounge there isn't rollover but instead of being so tense of the car trying to roll it actually rolls a bit now instead of staying flat. But no pure rollover... Unless maybe I change options but I don't think so.

You found out how to use the ignore list. Hooray for you. We got it the first time when we saw your frustrated post because you didn't find out sooner.

Oh, and you can block everyone on this site if you want, but your first sentence will never be true.
Prove it. :dunce:

All the other GT's were good enough. Why must there be something wrong with what you don't understand?

There shouldn't have been two different physic models in the first place.
Why must there be something wrong with what you don't understand? Seriously, this one, prove why it only should have taken one year, instead of the two years.

There shouldn't have been two different physic models in the first place.
haha oh man. I shouldn't have gained five lbs. in the past week. Why shouldn't have I? :)

Explain with all the knowledge that you have about physics engines and online support, how it would have been possible to have the physics at the start behave the way they do now. Is GT, really, the only game ever to have this problem? Still has this problem?

That is easy, pd has no clue about anything to do with online.

I knew it!

I don't think it's them not playing their own game... They have to work on GT6 and everything worked fine before the patches. It was still a playable racing game. However, the new physics for online which are subtle but they make the car feel so alive now!

If it's possible now explain how it wasn't possible before? I don't recall, did Prologue have two distinct models?

I feel the sound update wasn't needed, and that they could have put that work towards something else. Like not being allowed to ban driving aids online.

Just wrong in every way possible!

Prologue had a "standard" and a "professional" model.

Standard was GT4, professional is more along the lines of GT5 release version physics.

No they will not roll. But it is still the same feeling online as it is offline. Feels so good on my wheel. I drive more miles than I have in a very long time.

Here's something cool. You see my profile picture? Well guess what :). The same way you do stoppies (which is my profile picture) and wheelies you can do online. But only thing that is somewhat disappointing is... If you do the endo or wheely your friend won't see it or if he does it you won't see it.
It will look like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbkEIAE3X7M&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I am in the black one. My friend is in the yellow one (my tvr painted one is on a old account). We have the same tune (my Endo tune ask if you want it and I'll PM you the tune). And watch on his screen he did a endo. On my screen he didn't do it.

You can also do wheelies too. Here is proof. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfw_k_c2QLE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

But rolling them over is not possible online. The car stops turning on its side at I would say 40-80 degrees. Lucky to get 80 degrees sometimes.

But that's the only thing with not being able to see your friends so endos and wheelies. Besides that i am absolutely happy. Extremely satisfied

I can't. I never claim to know something I don't. I hear/read from various members (TRUSTED members) that the case of the offline/online physics differences are for technical reasons. The way I read it was that the physics online aren't stable/"efficient" enough so they require tweaks for whatever technical reasons. And GT5 surely isn't the only victim of this.

That is easy, pd has no clue about anything to do with online.
hahaha Actually, yup. Not what I was looking for though.

Due to technical advancements.

There are many things within GT5 that really do make it seem like no one's starting up GT5 at PD. Obviously it's an exaggeration, though it has some merit to it.

No, I don't believe there's full rollover. This may be due to some sort of lag that may be caused as a car rolls. I mean, if you're on Nurburgring 24hr with time/weather change and rollover, that's a lot of stuff to process at one time. The new feel of the way the car reacts to bumps and so on, it's greatly appreciated from me. As for the HSV new sounds, I think comparing to pocket camera recordings on YouTube is a bit hard to judge if they sound similar. YouTube compresses the audio and the camera isn't registered to clearly record the sound of the car anyways.

I know that, I meant along the lines of offline physics and online physics.

I would also like to know how the physics are. Are they more like the offline or online physics? I hope it's the online. Feels more realistic to me, offline seems like the back end of the car is too planted.
