Just a few observations on the ongoing Sony/Microsoft console battle ( Sony's pretty much given up by now haven't they? , and I don't even own an XBox, probably never will either) and how PD's now legendary delay of GT5 has effected Sony:

PS3 vs. XBOX 360 up to now (# of games, price vs. overall quality/value, quality of online experience, etc.)--PS3/Sony = Epic Fail

Playstation Network vs. XBox Live = PS3Sony = Epic Fail

Sony's reliance on PD's GT5 to move millions of consoles for them = Epic Fail

PD's smug reliance on loyal customers to buy GT5 in droves after making those customers wait in the dark while they waste time on features such as Track Editor = Epic Fail

Sure, there are plenty of customers in Europe and certainly Japan who will gobble up GT5 regardless of whether it is released this Christmas or Christmas 2010 or...whenever, because they are true racing fans.

And yes, I will certainly buy the game whenever it comes out (because that's the main reason I got the PS3 anyway :grumpy: :banghead:).

However, as anyone who has popped in to check out the NTSC race chat, or gone online to run in NTSC online races can attest to, NTSC is dying--quickly if it is not dead already. Quite frankly, generally speaking, one of the reasons that NTSC drivers (myself included) are so weak in comparison to PAL (imo) is that they lack the patience and resolve required to put in the countless hours of practice it takes to become proficient at the GT series.

*Newsflash for Sony/PD*--Instead of waiting patiently for GT5 to come out, American console gamers have already moved on.

Mark my words, Sony and PD could not have picked a worse time to drag their heels on the GT5 project. With the current state of the global economy, they are in for a rude awakening if they are under the misguided impression that GT5 will be a blockbuster/console-saviour hit...just my two cents.

I think you will see a rise online, when GT5 comes out! For the main reason, some people got tired of GT5P pretty guick because of the amount of tracks to race on! And GT5 will take care of the tracks to run on. And i'm betting on a release date of November- December. If sony doesn't do then, they are really not that smart!!

Well I didn't think I would ever come back to this thread but unfortunately a lot of people including me got disappointed with TGS. At first I was like F!@# but now looking on the bright side the game is not done and it looks simply awesome so from now on it's only going to get better. Sixty-five percent done so I'm wondering what is the other 35% going to be. Perhaps it's weather and time cycles they are working on. Whiners stop whining, or just whine on right up in here :D At least there is a release date now.

i hate my life because gt5 isnt coming out for christmas and i have nothing better to do

theres a whine for ya

Unfortunately, at 65% done after 5 years and a release date in 6 months that doesn't really compute for me.

I mean, I want a good game as much as the next person, but I'd gladly settle for a lesser game just so that I can play it instead of waiting.

I can't believe what I've woke up to.

A sad day indeed.

Forza fan boys will be laughing so much.

Masi_23-> I agree, or do what I would do; play Burnout Paradise (if I ever get online for my PS3) or get a PSP GT bundle (if ever I get the money). :indiff:

^ You almost forgotten that PD had too much side-projects on hand:

  • GT Cafe
  • GT Academy series
  • Tourist Trophy
  • GT HD
  • GT5P
  • Pebble Beach & SEMA Awards
  • Participation in Goodwood/Nurburgring 25hr
  • GTPSP
^ PD are very busy people, so I forgive them for the mishap they did on TGS. :)
