Picked it up and drove the first leg of my road trip, 600 miles to Iowa. Will post more pics and info later but wanted to post this pic of it on the dyno today.

Only ran it up to 5100 RPM, one of my friends was behind the wheel and he thought I said take it to 5000 instead of what I actually said, which was take it to 6000, but I'm still babying it a little and I didn't want to wait around another 40 minutes to get another really good cooldown.

Made 506 lb/ft and 464 HP (at the wheels) at 5100, and the HP was still climbing. Based on the fact that the HP was still climbing and that the HP on a GT500 peaks at 6200 RPM, I think this one will easily make 480 at the wheels, and may very well break 490 or even 500.

Look at that torque curve.

Going the rough break-in route, eh?

It already had 700 miles on it and I think break in is officially done at 1000, but I doubt much really happens between 700 and 1000. I see a lot of people on mustang sites say that engines don't really need break in like they used to and after just a few or 100 miles they're gOod to go. I don't subscribe to that ideology but I think a couple full throttle runs to 5000 won't hurt it. I am glad we didn't take it all the way to 6250 under load though.

Congrats on the purchase... I've drove a new Shelby and wanted one myself but they seem to be a little more than I want to pay these days. They are great cars though :)

I'm new to the forums here so you'll have to over look my post count, but I am a fellow Mustang enthusiast as yourself. I have an 03 Anniversary Cobra Convertible that I bought new, and a 99 SVT Contour that I use as a daily driver. Both cars are modded... the Contour has exhaust and some suspension parts and the Cobra has everything but the kitchen sink put on it :sly:

As far as the break in goes... my best friend always tells me "drive it like you stole it" LOL! The Cobra had ~1100 miles on it when it was first dynoed... made 382/384 to the tires bone stock. It makes a little more than that now :dopey:

Enjoy it and post some more pics!

Some lighting pics. Once I get home I'll do a proper photoshoot.

Replaced the regular incandescent fog lights and turn signals with LEDs. Previously the HIDs looked white and the fogs looked very, very yellow, now the HIDs look a little yellow, so you can only imagine how bad the fogs were:

Also did the reverse lights, which were also really yellow and looked terrible next to the bright red brake lights:

Also did the trunk light, Map lights, and license plate lights.

Some interior pics. Color isn't very accurate, the cup holder and the rest of the ambient lighting is currently purple, but can be set to any color. The gauges are blue and purple (and also adjustable).

+1 over here, these babies cost quite a bit over $100,000 to import mainly because of the RHD conversion. Love the look of the newer 'Stangs though.

What's the forums policy on posting videos that may appear to contain illegal activities? What if I say that it occurred on a closed course (and that opposite direction traffic were track officials responding to a track emergency behind me) or I say that the entire video is computer generated and not real?

I've always been a mustang fan (and owned an 88 coupe with all the bolt ons and nitrous, not new, like 7 years ago), but the 03/04 is what made me fall in love with the factory supercharged cobra. They're great cars. TBH I'd probably rather have an 03/04 than a 07-09, the mid years don't have the lighter weight of the earlier models and don't have the power or suspension Tuning of the later models.

What if you sent me the link and I was like "Hey, look at this idiot in his new GT500!"? ;)

I'm not sure how I would deal with owning a brand new car, probably wash it every day, with a q-tip. I wouldn't be able to deal with seeing the undercarriage getting dirty, or any part for that matter.

Was just cruising around town tonight, trying to decide if I wanted to stop and get carry out from somewhere, when what I assume is the only orange SRT-8 Challenger in town drove past the lot I was pulling out of. He was going the same direction I was, and eventually we WOULD have ended up at a red light on a road with a 55 mph speed limit, except he turned at that light.

Which is a totally lame story, but the only reason I tell it is because I remember seeing this Challenger about a year ago and thinking "God damn, I wish I had that car" and when I saw it this time my first thought was "God damn, I'm going to blow his effing doors off" and my second thought was "Man, I'm glad I DON'T have that car."

Not to say I don't like Challengers, I think the Challanger is the best looking out of the current crop of muscle cars. But as far as performance goes the Shelby is in a completely different league.

Cano
chase the guy down, tell him to add a blower, then video out all the mayhem.

Agreed. Maybe he already had one and was driving around in a sleeper, and he was looking at you, thinking, "God, I'm going to blow his effing doors off! Oh, here's my turn.."

I think I'm at about 19.2 MPG average for the entire time I've owned the car. I haven't reset the MPG meter since I drove it off the showroom floor. I know it was 19.6 at the end of my road trip to get home, and of course has been going down since then since all it gets is city driving now.

On the highway I was getting about 21 doing between 79 and 89 (mostly 84). In town I think 15-16.

This car won't have a ton of miles on it so it could get 10 MPG and I wouldn't care. The gas mileage is actually pretty good I think considering the 550 HP.

Ordered this stuff yesterday:

1 xJLT 2011 Shelby GT500 Oil Separator (Passenger Side) (JLTOSP-GT500PASSENGER)
Color Black

1 xRaptor Digital Mini Shift Light with Launch Feature (Red) (RPLLRBLK001)

1 xAeroforce Ford CN Series DUAL Interceptor Scan Gauges (AF-CNF02)
Bezel Color Black Bezel
Display Colors Blue/Black CN101
Face Color Black
Logo SVT Logo

1 xSpeed of Sound 2010 Mustang Dual Gauge Pillar Pod (Coupe) (SOS-2010POD-DUAL-COUPE)
Color 1M3C2C 2005+ Dark Charcoal
Raptor Claw Option Yes

1 xAiraid 2010 Shelby GT500 Replacement High Flow Filter (Blue) (860-512)

I think I'll also eventually get a dash pod and put some more gauges in there. Shelby sells one for the 2007-2009 that I think fits with the dash lines way better than the Boss 302 pod does, but so far it doesn't seem like they're selling it for the 2010+. Speed of Sound also makes one, but it just looks weird.

Probably get a boost gauge (I've read the stock gauge tends to freak out if you boost at 15 lbs or more), an oil pressure gauge (the stock one is basically an idiot light with a needle, it isn't actually telling you the pressure, which is lame), and a fuel pressure gauge.

20 mpg is awesome for a supercharged, 550 horse, almost-two-tons car. I remember about ten years ago how Hot Rod magazine made a series of articles of 20mpg-12 second cars and at the time it seemed like a pretty big deal. Technology marches on, indeed.

Hopefully I'll be washing, clay barring, and waxing the car today and then will take a load of pictures if I can find somewhere good to do it.

I say hopefully because I have the day off but got called into the office and don't know how long I'll have to be here.
