The 'boost' system doesn't appear to give you any extra power - it just give you more grip.

If you got punted off the track at Fuji in the GTR race you could make up a lot of time through the last few tight corners. The car was significantly more 'planted' and you could get on the power earlier (almost like 'standard' physics).

Around Daytona however, due to the nature of the track the effect seems minimal. In fact if you start last and the cars in front don't make any mistakes then you just slowly slide backwards because you're not close enough to take advantage of the slipstream.

Just spent 2 hours at Daytona and it's seems impossible to tell if a boost system is in place due to the nature of the track. I initially had some good Daytona racing with a particular player (trying to think of his name dam !) but half my races were ruined by a guy called ASOBOO or something similar . If fact I can't believe his dedication ,I must of been in the same server as him at least 8 times and all he does is knock people off , what's his motivation ?

As you know when you get knocked off at Daytona anyone you were close to are half a lap away by the time you get back on track , so I'm uncertain if the boost is present. I kept a close eye on my revs and they seemed to be consistent through out. One thing that did spring to mind is the draft seems overkill but the only experience I have of draft is watching motorsport so I could be wrong.

as i have spent many kilometers on germen highways(no speed limit!!)i can tell you that drafting can make a huge difference...the faster you go the more effective it becomes offcourse....but its something you have to learn, because a draft if allmost never excactly behind a car because of side winds...if you drive on a straight part of the highway and there is a crosswind you will have to "feel" for the best draft position either a bit left or right behind the car in front of you...if you get this right it feels like you suddenly get 50extra horsepower and you will fly past him ....you can see this technique very well by looking at bikesports(tour de france ,etc)where drafting is as important as the fitness of the bikers!!

Some dude named "reojets" just parked his 350Z right in the middle of the track entering turn 1 on lap 1!!!

There are some real friggin' idiots playing online!

Now, I don't feel all that bad about unleashing my daughter to go ahead and play online. If you see "Pinkee" you know she's a true rookie.

At times it seems like online is a combination of GT and Burnout!

Last night when I was racing at Suzuka, there was a moron named "musonokawaii" (or something really close to that) whose only and single purpose on that track was to spoil the race for everyone else. He drives for some time, then parks his car in the middle of the track just to get in the way of all the others. In the next lap, he will be parked in the same way, just in another position. In the next race, he does the same thing all over again. If only my car had a rocket launcher, then...

Now, there is nothing new to this behaviour of these morons. I know that.

However, a penalty system is already in place and this system tries to penalise offending drivers. It would certainly be welcome to have such a penalty system being able to detect whether you're trying to race or you are there just to spoil the event.
Maybe you could even be banned temporarily from the races. That would be nice "revenge" for the rest of us. :mischievous:
Or the moron's car could be confiscated (deleted from his garage). Heh, heh...

I total sympathise with you but disagree about adding more to the already ridiculous penalty system. I feel Adding more artificial rules will turn the game in the wrong direction towards a total arcade experience.

Sorry to repeat my self but until we can host and be in control, which means kicking and banning people we are always going to get bad experiences.

Most the decent racing clubs ,clans and leagues all RULE them selves With either Admin reviewing replays or racing with such a group of people where honesty and fairness comes before winning.

Playing GT5 Prologue online is an indifferent experience for me. Played it for the first time over the last couple of days.
Tried one track - Suzuka East and had to endure the "rammers from behind" who don't brake going into corners. Also watched with hilarity as some of the other cars dance from one side of the track to the other. I hope PD sort all this out before GT5 comes out and introduce a real penalty system so to not spoil it for those who want to race properly.
BTW - I did win a couple of races!!!

I agree.
I just had to vent a little with some ideas on how to get some revenge on those "bastards" :D

In the perfect world, no penalties would be necessary.

I came across the same thing last night, and also the idiots at Daytona going the wrong way and parking on the banking.

Thanks , that's a nice insight. 👍

I'm trying to get online but I keep getting a message in Japanese is the service down?

We just got offline a moment ago. Our room suddenly went from 8 people to 1.

As for the parkers, PD should track the cars and if anyone is not actually racing or in the process of wrecking and recovering, they should make their cars go transparent and create a huge draft hole!

Been saying from day 1. Start adding "like minded" players to your friends and not just anyone who posts their PSN name.

The new events are up, just finished my 1st race: Suzuka F430 only.
I really like the concept of these online events, every week we get some new races, with each a totally different driving style.

I forgot it was update day! Here are the new races, and if you can't read it go here: http://www.gtaddict.com/onlineraces.html

LOL! I noticed that 430 race myself and your post was just off the screen. I said 'excellent' to myself the burns style then I scrolled down a little... :)

I wish they would put in more sim races. I am just not interested in the others.

To really seperate the men from the boyz I'd like to see...Ferrari 599 Professional @ Suzuka or the Daytona Road Course without any driver assist.

But even with the 430s @ Suzuka...I see a lot of folks going off track today.

This is good, as it will serve to beter the driving skill for all who apply themselves....(self included) :tup:l

The first 2 430 races I did were extremely boring, but the third one was probably the best online race I had so far! There were 4 of us who were all swapping places back and forth for all 3 laps, it was awesome. I've had more good ones since.

I don't mind if there's only one 'sim' mode race available and it's updated every week or two - just as long as it's not the Daytona oval!

I would have nothing against Daytona OVal in Sim - as long as the cars would be TVR or Corvette with forced assists-off :D

The Ferrari 430 Suzuka Pro race is just pure joy. I ran it three times this morning and experienced almost no lag and minimal bumping, scoring two wins and a second place. Since the 430 always feels on the edge of letting loose at this track with S3 tires, trying to run someone off the track will usually result in the aggressive driver taking the spin. Either that or they take themselves out of the race and into the sand on turn one. :)

Eliminate the rubber-banding "boost" element and this race is perfect!

+1 Yeah, I have raced with this guy, he is already in my ignored list on PS3

This has already been said probably but - Suzuka race this week looks amazing :) I must try it right now... - I hope shortcut after turn 2 gives you penalty now thought.
Tuscan time trial also sounds interesting.

Yea the F430 event is great fun and very challenging especially when you get matched up against good drivers:)

Unfortunately, the suzuka 'shortcut' hasn't been fixed yet. Check out the VW Golf time trial and look at the top time (makes me sick:ouch:)

TVR event is good fun too. Even though its lower powered than the GT-R, its trickier to handle and you seem to get big understeer round the slow corners especially:indiff:

Watch out for the "Brood of Vipers" at Daytona. It's a gaggle of 3-4 Viper drivers whose sole purpose is to take you out.

Thanks for the heads up, however i have already met them. Had some dam good clean race's at Suzuka, coming 1st on many occassions. :)

Can't find an answer anywhere for this, only three of the online events let me race, all the others take me directly to the standings page, anyone have a clue as to how I screwed up?

Just had myself a REAL night @ Suzuka!

Nearly every race was clean and fair (NO shortcutting at all that I saw), but that may have been because the rear view mirror only has a limited range :sly: and most races I managed to finish in first place.
But seriously, BIG 👍 to the guys I was on track with. 'Cos even when the racing was tight, there was virtually no bumping and barging. Bar one guy who repeatedly tried to spin me out all along the back straight for the fist two laps, but ended up forgetting to make the 130R one the second lap, because he was SO desperate to tag me instead of playing fair.:dunce:

Not that I'm particularly fast round that track, but being an endurance racer once I get the lines and braking points down pat, I tend not to make many mistakes that will cause me to fall off the track and lose time & places.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bragging (that much) but 3 laps isn't that long a time to concentrate and get it all right. Hot-lappers tend to be able to do a single good, fast lap in a stint with the rest being mediocre and full of mistakes. Long-race fans tend to be a little slower on the fast lap front, BUT, faster overall when multiple smooth, error-free laps are needed.
(And PLEASE don't flame me for these comments, it's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it! :))
