Hot-lappers tend to be able to do a single good, fast lap in a stint with the rest being mediocre and full of mistakes. Long-race fans tend to be a little slower on the fast lap front, BUT, faster overall when multiple smooth, error-free laps are needed.
(And PLEASE don't flame me for these comments, it's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it!)
What about when the hotlappers slow down when they are not hot lapping?
