We have had amongst other things exactly the same issue, even testing on my own earlier my lap times did not match my times from a few days ago i mean seconds off not the odd tenth 122s turned into 124/5s on one track 124's to 128/9s on another visable loss of speed?? straights where 6th gear was needed barely peaked in 5th!! If anything its getting worse along with my paranoia.:yuck:

Its really bad. We have always had certain problems, with loading bars, not hearing and not seeing others on track, it was workable but now the game unless with smaller grids is almost unplayable. Even with smaller grids, the usual probs that we have always had (loading bars etc) occur more often.

Couple this with the 3rd person chase cam glitch, where my car jerks from left to right constantly just makes me not want to play the game. And the REALLY stupid tyre wear for Race Tyres; when I play now I just grit my teeth with frustration and have no motivatin to race or test. I was so looking forward to our GBRC vs TAM event, but I hardly bothered practicing, but when I did I could never get any time on track as we were always having connect problems7lag/black Screens and glitches of all kinds, so we were all jumping in and out of lobbies, clearing our Cache and resetting routers etc. It REALLY is a Joke!!

Our new season is due to start and I may consider delaying it until the 18th to see if this update does anything to improve the problem. I have little faith though TBH!!:nervous:

As Pappa said our League vs League event was ruined by lag, loads of guys from either league couldnt get near thier quali times due to lag, and other guys seemingly had no lag at all which shows the un predictable nature of this bug, during round 2 of our League vs League races i was 2 and a half seconds off my quali time yet last night we had a casual race in a room of ten and i was completely unaffected, but some people were getting this bug who i know have very similar pace to me and i was overtaking round the outside of corners with no problem, its odd to say the least and until its fixed T.A.M will be suspended.

On a side note Pappa, when this issue is fixed we will run our league vs league again, we were really looking forward to tangling with you guys on the track again, the online problems really put a dampener on things.

Definately Spencer, Would be a pleasure. We will hold tight and see what the 18th brings.

does the host have any advantages? For example faster lap times (by having more grip or because of any other reason), less input lag and so on.

Hope that's something good.

I don't think so, actually the opposite, lower frame rates seem to be more common for a fixed-host host.
That extreme grip loss and "slow motion glitch" happens to everyone.

I use a DS3 and only valid thing i can report on is during a race the car seems less grippy than it does in free run somtimes noticeably more slippery .

Back today, my league race was yesterday, inconclusive results. We started with 14 drivers on the grid, lost one right at the start and two others had left by the end of lap 10. The remaining 11 raced to the end.

Regulations set only one set of soft tyres per driver for the whole 1 hour race. I started on softs and despite mistakes in first lap, had a decent first sector, plenty of clean laps. Even so, my fastest lap of the race was on my stint with mediums, towards the middle of the race.

You can account for driving, but my stint on softs had 13 drivers on track, all the other stints on mediums had 11 drivers.

The day before I had quick test with the same setup alone on my own lobby, same rules, using just the DS3 instead of the wheel and despite very messy laps was 2 seconds faster on soft tyres than I was in the race on the same softs.

I use a wheel, cable internet conection @ 5mbps /512, Lynksys router connected to ps3 via cable, NAT 2, PS3 Slim 120gb with lots of HD space.

I have my doubts as it's probably to prepare for the upcoming update, but let's not get our hopes down! :)

While I stick by my original posting on this topic, if they have identified the issue and it can be isolated from the rest of the last update, then it is possible they are rolling back just that part. Now, as has been noted, this issue existed in a much smaller number of users even before 2.02. So, the two questions become: (1) Is this to address this particular issue as noted here; (2) Are they rolling back/fixing this issue out of existence or merely back to its less prolific state?

Response to all the problems here in the forum given by Sony NL :

It is a ingame problem and Sony is not gonna do anything to fix or resolve the problem .

Wow! We just tried to run a one-make race on Nurburgring GP Short using MX5 roadsters with 14 players and it ran in slow motion :yuck:

The 6 lap race was unplayable but I urged everybody to keep going while I ran some tests.

The first lap I was running the G25 and official Sony BT headset. I first tried unplugging the G25 and going to the Dual shock and got an immediate speed boost. Then I turned off my BT headset and picked up more speed. I then ran the last lap with both the G25 and BT headset back on and went back to slow motion laps.

The bug definitely can affect anybody, but if you're running a wheel or BT headset then it's much worse!

By all means check the replay against a stopwatch, that will tell you if your driving is to blame, or if you were really hit by the bug.

Great post, +100
Seems like the hardware could have a major hand in it.

Thanks for sharing this test, MGR. Contrasting the game clock's time with a stopwatch is the best way for anyone to demonstrate this issue.

We'll see if this gets resolved in 2.03.

Just curious as to whether anyone has done stop-watch comparisons with just one driver on the track. There is obviously a difference when this bug hits, but could there always be a difference that we don't notice?

Good question. I have seen the bug in action but never when I am practising alone or in a pair. Maybe I dont notice it but one of my racers say their laptimes rise and fall dramatically when practising alone.

I have and the times are correct.

Details: I have been testing GT300 cars on Suzuka, 10 laps, alone in private lounge. Was mysteriously slow in the ReAmemiya RX-7 '06, and very fast in the Subaru Impreza '08. Checked both replays and they match stopwatch exactly, split for split, lap for lap. So just poor driving or something.

My question is whether anyone has done the stopwatch test during an actual race and not just during a replay. GT5's replay system actually recreates the race on a "living track" based on data saved during the race. So if there's a difference between the game clock and the stopwatch while viewing a replay it could just mean there was some error in the replay process and does not necessarily mean it was happening during the race. Although there are plenty of reports (including my own) of being 2-5 seconds off the practice pace so that suggests it is happening during the race.

Also, has anyone actually watched the timer during the whole lap in either race or replay mode? Is the continuity of the timer intact during the whole race or does it go 1:17, 1:18, 1:19, 1:24, 1:25, 1:26 and just skip several seconds, causing the discrepancy in game clock vs. stopwatch?

Just thinking out loud here, hadn't seen these thoughts discussed so trying to see if we can figure out where to get a few more data points.

Yes, coming from this post.
Gooners PM reply
Here are the results I got from my replay of the race,

Lap 2 of the race:

Speedy
GT5 timer: 1'53
My stopwatch: 1'53

Gooners
GT5 timer: 1'37
My stopwatch: 1'37

Hydro (host)
GT5 timer: 1'51
My stopwatch: 1'51

Deviding the all GT5 times seperatly by the stopwatch times gave me 1.0...
This means, in my replay, each real time second took 1.0 seconds in GT5.

Did you feel the lack of grip in the second lap? Though the lap 2 time is terrible, I can definitely see that you're trying to drive like its on ice.

If you go to the linked post, you'll see two different replays were analyzed of the same race.

Edit:
Races that were livestreamed can be found in a link in my sig.

26 seconds!? Is that real?!

I kid you not! It was simply unbelievable how slow the game was running.

Made it really easy to spot the speed differences. I already knew the that using a G25 wheel made quite a difference, but in this race I also noticed the DS3 users without mics seemed to have more pace than anyone. Once I changed to the DS3 and turned off my mic I could cruise past other DS3 users still using mics.

Free run before the race (with all 14 cars on the track) seemed perfectly fine.

We bailed on the rest of the MX5 races and just ran some shuffle events for the majority of the evening - limiting them to 10 competitors at a time while the other 3 or 4 drivers took turns sitting them out just watching instead.

I don't have much hope 2.03 will fix this issue Jordan.

This bug has been around for quite a while. Well before the Spec 2.0 patch (although it does seem to have gotten worse somewhere along the line) It's either too hard to fix or PD simply aren't aware of it.

I'm hoping it's the latter and we just need to draw as much attention to it as possible.

Jordan, Im not sure how much contact/feedback you get with PD, but do you know if they are aware of this bug and trying to fix it?

GT5's fun factor has gone down the toilet for me. Have not been playing since the last update. I used to play it every day for 4 to 5 hours for over a year. Have moved on to other racing games that don't have so many online glitches.
