A race to forget in a track I like.

Oh god I can't imagine how dreadful will things turn out at Silverstone, the track i hate the most.

I have to say, after watching some of the replay, Erazer truly amazing, so fast and under complete control.
I watched an was amazed, also Jon and Aug, very very fast.
To me its just such a dangerous track, so many bumps and elevation changes, and narrow.

I got to a point where i just could not go fast enough without crashing, as the leaders were distant in the mirrors behind me about midway through the race, i was worried about crashing in the narrow walled section of the track and ruining the race for them.

But amazing job to all in the top 8.

As is custom when you win the race, here's my race report: :P

I was suprised that I had the pace I had since I had no pracitce prior to Sunday. But even with a somewhat bad Qualifying, I still got pole with some margain. With Aug behind the very straight-line fast greek GT-R's, I knew it was my race to loose.
Strategy was 2-stopper if I managed to pull away, with the option to stay out if I did'nt.
At the start I started to pull away as planned, but after about 15 minutes Jonikis started to match my times. At this point I decided to go for a 1-stopper. I started to try to preserve tyres, brake a little earlier, be a little more carefull. Jontikis started to catch me, and was just 2 seconds behind after about 40 min. Now the pitstop was close so I started to push again, and I think he made some misstakes because the gap increased to about 4 seconds in just 2 laps. Jontikis made a better pitstop, And after the pitstop he was right behind me, less than 2 seconds behind. Now it was hammertime. Pushed to the max for 20 minutes, and the gap increased to 7 seconds. Now I felt pretty comfortable, so I started to back off again, gap started to shrink, but with 5 minutes to go, it started to increase again, I think he backed off too. And at the finishline it was back to 7 seconds again.

Looking at the points standings, I can't fathom how I can be just 3 points behind Aug, after his mental start to the season I was sure he would scamper away in the lead, but I guess the battle is on.:)

@Stephen Vann
I recall you mentioning being allowed to lap whilst everyone is assembling etc just before the start, but only if you use the pit lane. This means having to put new tyres every time though, so drivers won't be able to any gauge changes accurately until the tyres have at least done one lap, so I think it might be worth while to just go carefully past everyone instead?

Well, as it is now, when i open the race room, drivers can only drive to the grid and park up.

I thought i would maybe allow drivers to have a little practice, as they do in F1, they can lap, but have to use the pit
rather than go over the line on the grid.
At least they would be driving.

I think its very important that when drivers have reset - cleared cashe and changed oil, then come directly into the race room.
Once in the race room they go IN and stay IN, so normally you would just wait until the race start.
But i thought we could allow guys to drive the lap, as they can in F1, but they must not pass go.
they have to use the pitlane.

At least if you arrive late you can drive around most of the track a few times.

I just always feel that issues get worse when guys go IN, then OUT again.

@Stephen Vann

Ok, thanks Logic it makes sense because of the connection issues, but lapping is at least better than nothing if you need some practice. As for the entry/exit lines, can you please clarify exactly what is out of limits?

Photos attached for what I did at Fuji. On close inspection, the outside tyres maintained contact with the white line, so in that regard, they are within the White line rule for track limits.

My race report is consists of this statement: It seems my dark days of getting stuck behind CJ might be back...

Nooooooo.:lol:

(Just kidding @CrazyJohn)

What an exhausting track though. From t5 to Forrests Elbow hairpin I find it so demanding.

In summary I was hoping to do better than I did but I do think we all pretty much got ERAZED. Except Jont. So well done to him -for being more biro than lead.;)

Still on the night shift :crazy: any chance I could get a steward tomorrow evening after 7 uk. Then back on the night shift till Monday :dopey::crazy::dunce:

Edit: Tomorrow is really today Weds :banghead:
