Ok, before anyone cracks me on the skull, this is NOT a bagging, just an observation...:dunce:

Yesterday, and most of Saturday, I was your typical motorhead....I sat in front of the idiot box and watched the Bathurst 1000. đź‘Ť
I guess I'm not alone there.
But, what really surprised me was the distinct lack of presence by Sony. :ouch:
I also guess that now we are a forum not solely dedicated to GT but other games as well, it's ok to mention the X-Box.
From my seat, X-Box won hands down as far as marketing goes.
You could not help but notice their signage throughout the whole track, plus their running blurb (scrolling across the screen every so often) that you can "drive Bathurst NOW on Forza"..........:sly:
That and the dact that a race car also carried their sponsorship.

Would I be correct in assuming that they (X-Box) had the "rights" to the weekend?
And that Sony just missed the boat.
I was really expecting to hear of Sony having race simulators set up with hundreds lined up to try Bathurst. :(

As I said, only an observation and not intended as a bagging to either game developer/Company.
Just thought it would have been a good opportunity for Kaz and the team, but I guess not. Maybe it was simply a contractual thing.

You would be right. I'm pretty sure Xbox obtained the rights to the weekend over Sony. They also have XBOX ONE on the grass of the first corner (I wonder if that will be in GT6 :sly: :dunce:) and this:

Maybe MS willing to spend more money than PD/Sony would. Seems like exclusive weekend promotion for MS, I wonder how much money spent on sponsoring the race team, advertising on TV, at the track/event and press events with race car drivers. I think MS is really pushing to beat PD in marketing.

This. If it wasn't 'exclusive,' you would've seen both.

Now we could start questioning on how much influence this sort of promotion has on the average (not so well informed) individual.

If people start thinking that Forza is the only game with Bathurst and that they'd have to buy Forza just because of that...
(I'm quite sure some people do already think this; Just saying from experience.)

How many demo stations were there?

Would you? It's not possible that PD/Sony just chose not to spend money there?

I mean, PD blew off TGS. I don't think we can assume that they're taking every opportunity for exposure.

I went to the mount an was surprised at the lack of a Xbox tent or merchandise truck no stands go back when they sponsored the vx commodores they had xbox stations with the hot games at that time. But yeah.

good videos Froudey, I think XBox did a poor job with the opportunity they had they ran a Forza 5 add almost every add break but they kept playing the time lapse add which doesn't show any actual gameplay, all they had to do was run a Forza version of the GT Bathurst concept video and it would have turned into massive pre-orders, I follow everything with Forza and I had no idea what the Forza adds were trying to show, it certainly didn't make me feel like going to buy the game other than in text it said featuring Bathurst.

I would laugh my socks off if this is in GT6 :D

Very nice.

That guy in the second video is doing pretty good, that is something you don't see often on demo pods. đź‘Ť

But why wouldn't you promote the inclusion of the first Australian Track in the GT Series, at Australia's biggest Motorsport event of the year?

Kaz is probably saving up the money for GT academy.

Literally the most pointless reply. You either haven't read the thread, or are a troll, or both?

It's quite simple really. This particular board is meant for discussing GT6. As in the upcomming PS3 game. It is not meant for discussing Turn 10's advertisement at Bathurst, or PD's lack of it. It's not relevant to the board.

Its relevant as discussion. "GT6 @Bathurst?" As was posted, the only Sony involvment were Sony stickers over the headlights of the Team BOC car from Brad Jones Racing. If you ever played FM4, that car was in the V8SC line up with Jason Richards'(R.I.P.) name on it.

PD pretty much had since March 2012 to come up with a way to make their presence known at the 2013 Bathurst 1000. The race is an international success according the International drivers that participate and those that want to participate. Why have your GT Academy drivers test a V8 Supercar and no one from that camp attends the race?

This circuit was/is the last piece in the new tracks for GT6 "puzzle" and it took a Harvey Norman to showcase the demo? Plus the Bathurst 12H is going to host the GTA team with Rick Kelly as a driver. No word from Kelly Racing/Nismo about featuring the cars at Bathurst. So, I believe the Op is right in making this a relevant discussion.

He's discussing the lack of GT6 advertising, and the fact there's more XBox advertising in comparison. How is that not relevant? Are you one of those that shuns XBox or Forza when they are even mentioned?

I agree. I thought someone like Lucas Ordonez, Wolfgang Reip or Steve Doherty were going to be co-drivers for the Jack Daniel's Racing or Norton Hornets Nissan Altimas.

I do wonder whether or not Microsoft had exclusive rights to advertise at Bathurst. If not, it does seem like a missed opportunity on Polyphonys part, though they do have form in that regard (TGS for example).

Funnily enough, the Gran Turismo 6 Bathurst trailer was far and away more impressive than all of Microsofts efforts combined. What the hell is the ad with the cameras supposed to represent? Some gameplay of, you know, Bathurst, would have been much more appropriate.

PD/Sony would be selling a game. MS would be selling a console and a game. Their budget for that kind of promotion would be tenfold that of GT6.

I reckon most events provide a form of exclusivity to track sponsors. For example in F1, Pirelli don't want to pay a lot for advertising and then have Dunlop show up and sell tyres in the paddock. V8 Supercars also have a history of exclusive deals, particularly with drinks companies.

I agree, that ad was very poor.
