GT6 is apparently not a racing game...

Then what does that mean?

You mean "online car life simulator"? Anyone's guess is as good as mine, but I'm thinking it's more significant than most people realize at this point.

The car life name tag correlates to online portion of the game, that's my take on the genre :) I think offline will be the same like past GT games, but online, there will be new modes, new features ( social media integration perhaps via mobile apps ) that makes PD dare to call it car life :D where we have car/auto clubs, track meeting, championships, cruise clubs, etc.

No. I meant what do you mean about your earlier statement?

Hey, hold on now...

Oh wait, I thought it said racist game. My bad. Carry on with the flambe.

You have to be more specific, I make a lot of statements...lol. "Quote"....

For sure, I'm actually surprised this thread didn't generate more discussion about the potentially heavy online focus for GT6. The world is definitely on that path, 3/4 of the way there already, but PD can't afford to skimp on the offline portion of the game this time around. It was terrible last time.

Please no. I have SATELLITE internet now, please don't lock me out of any more content that I already am locked out of.

So how does the online-only thing work? You really can't even play any sort of offline version of the game? No A-Spec, etc?

I'm surprised because a lot of people have complained about the poor AI, poor career mode and when there's a hint now that the game is switching focus to the online mode, I figured there would be some kind of outcry. I have no data to back me up but I still think the vast majority of people play either exclusively or nearly so, offline. Even at it's height of popularity there were never more than a few hundred open lobbies active at a time, and given certain assumptions about turnover rates and room capacity might lead you to believe 100,000 people or so were the most ever active in a day online.

The game really needs a dual personality at this point to keep both types of players active and interested. Can they do that, or will one suffer while the other grows? We won't know for 3 months...:sly:

GT5 and the previews for GT6 destroyed my GT fanboyism I'm afraid. I no longer feel invested in the product or the direction in which GT is moving. For the first time there is no chance of me pre-ordering and from what we have seen of GT6 so far it is unlikely I'll be buying it from anything other than a bargain basement long after release.

All of which means I'm less inclined to vent my fears & frustrations of what PD might do to GT6.

That's sad for an ex-GT fanatic like you.

Not even a "Real Driving Simulator", I say. That was just a joke made by PD to convince gamers into buying their games.
