Is there anyway that you can put a thumb drive to it and see if you can download the data even with the bad board? I’m just being hopeful that it would be worth a try because I feel sorry bad for you. I can only begin to imagine if this would have happened to me. A few month ago @Racin510s suggested that I do that and I did just in case. There is a slim chance that the memory part of the board is still able to be in good shape for that operation. There one at a local game shop for $108, it is a Slim line. I have the original version, I just need to find out if I can swap the hard drives over as I put a 500GB one in mine.
I'm going to lose my game data.
It won't turn on at all, so I can't download the save game data. I did save the data to one a long time ago when I changed hard drives, I'm hoping it's still on it. I've got a lot more cars since then but at least all the races are done.Is there anyway that you can put a thumb drive to it and see if you can download the data even with the bad board? YLOD can be fixed, but the methods are very scetchy, I mean they talk about re-soldering stuff on the CPU, wich is just doomed to fail. miniature soldering like that can only be done by machine really. I'd give it a miss TBH.It won't turn on at all, so I can't download the save game data. I did save the data to one a long time ago when I changed hard drives, I'm hoping it's still on it. @smoothbore12 I saw that it can be fixed. It's cheaper to buy a another ps3 than to get it repaired though. And it's still not guaranteed to last.
I was thinking if someone could send me a copy of there save game data it would save me a lot of time, not sure if I could start the game all over again.
I was thinking if the hard drive will work in another console without needing to be formatted (fingers crossed).YLOD can be fixed, but the methods are very scetchy, I mean they talk about re-soldering stuff on the CPU, wich is just doomed to fail. miniature soldering like that can only be done by machine really. The game save file is encrypted, and not transferable between accounts, so you will not be able to use someone elses file data.
What I would do is either:
-buy a functioning PS3 wich has the same HDD slot as yours, and just swap HDD and pray the save files transfer over (I think they do).
-buy a defunct PS3 with a fault that is'nt related to the one you have (like a disc reader fail or HDD crash etc), and simply move over over motherboard (+GPU and CPU, and also the PCB) to you existing one. The unit HAVE to be of similar model number. they dont have to be the same exactley, but they should be of the same series. (for example if you have a CECHP01, you could use a CECHC03 or CECHHO3)
The latter one is what I did when my disc reader decided to not read discs anymore. Bought a YLOD PS3 for dirt cheap, and swapped readers.
Yes, my point exactly. what are the odds that will work putting it in an owen, like what kind of stupid idea is that?I was thinking if the hard drive will work in another console without needing to be formatted (fingers crossed).
I have the original bulky version, does that mean I can't get a Slim line?
Also I've seen a repair method where they put the mother board in a oven to melt the solder back together
I find a guy who has one for sale, who live only 15 minutes away.@bjl23 - Hope you get this fixed soon - as you can see all - all sorts of options to work around it. I was looking forward to handing you the reins of the GT B-SPEC HUB soon as you had done so much work on it from the inception - and with continued interest by PD shown in AI Leagues, etc. the B-Spec Hub is bound to interest many a player, both Career and Sport.
A lot of good advice above to look into - and don't worry about making money and getting cars again - it's just a case of levelling up if you have to so that you can take part in multi-class events.
Lot of rumors for @skeagracing and his unbeatable secret project

Asking @skeagracing to send me a " good " tune from his garage ........
He send me this !!!!!
Although he forget to send me the downforce settings and if it has intake tuning or not......
Can' t much the same pp.
The truth is, the ps3 kept on giving me times that wasn't on top of the leader boards. So one thing lead to anotherLooks like Bruce karate-chopped the PS3 after some odd leader board - but is not admitting it.
Hope he kata another one soon.
Should be worried about @RMan72 to.Last night i was looking for a solution to stop @lfm58 leading all over .
I google it and the only thing come out was that.

as long it's not set on spin cycle.Astounding. 👍
I bet no NOS, no SRF, and probably 0 TCS, 0 ABS? (these I've heard are the 'washing machine's' usual settings.)
