You know what would be REALLY awesome? If people would actually READ a post before commenting on it. I already said I know the garages aren't going to carry over. I was asking more about money like with GT4. Oh my word! And then people wonder why I get all frustrated with this forum.

I don't mind about money carrying over (partially because I'll have 1,000,000 from the start but mostly because I like the low money early stages of GT games) but it would be a nice feature if settings such as control configurations and driver assists carried over from GT5 :)

I did READ your post. You said "I'm not expecting garage's to carry over", I simply confirmed that that was the case, and continued to add my opinion, that due to this being the case, I don't suspect there to be any other sort of carry-over into GT6.

Not only does one have to READ a post, but they should also COMPREHEND a post.

But you don't buy the game based on what is coming down the road, if the game at day 1 isn't enough to satisfy you, then don't buy it, wait until there is solid information about the DLC content, then if you think the game is a worthwhile investment then, you go buy the game then.

No one is forcing you to buy the game day 1 in hope that something you really want is going to come out later. As I said, there is plenty of information about what is going to be available day 1, if that isnt enough, wait until 1 week after launch, read all about it, watch videos, make an informed decision about the game then. It's not like you either get it day 1 or not at all.

The game (GT6) will be sitting in a drawer until about mid-January, when the holidays are over, at which point I know I'll have some time off from work and then I can see and read-up on all the patches and fixes the game has needed since release, to see just how broken or (dare I say) possibly not-broken it was at release.

Again I'm not buying, my friends are, but they (4 of the 5 in particular) have 'habits' of 'forgetting' bets, and I'd rather get it asap before they wiggle-out completely and look to not fulfill the wager.

And I'm planning for Day 1 for the Gamestop bonus code. (Edit* and the GS-Rewards points that my buddy at GS is hooking me up with)

I have to say that oink has a point. Sure, Gran Turismo 5 was buggy as hell, but that was a rushed product and wasn't that update friendly. I'm sure that Polyphony Digital improved their update system this time round and the game will be way less buggy than GT5 was at launch.

@oink83 - "You"* ;)

Ok, I've had my fun, time to move on.

@ildd I want PD to prove to me, without a doubt, that it isn't GT5.5 (which with the 'compromised-data' reasoning is suspicious IMO)

à la @Kurei I am going to make an assumption. Since you have resorted to correcting typos, I can only assume you have come to realise I make a good point.

Now, I've noticed that Gran Turismo 6's and Forza Motorsport 5's graphics look stagering. I mean, when at their best; they're spectacular. It just feels like yesterday when I was 4 years old and playing GT1 and I thought it was the best thing ever and now look how far racing games have come. Anyway, the question I have based on this is that is it possible for the realism at least graphical wise to finally peak this generation?

@oink83, no, I'm going by PD's previous track-record, past release delays, past fumbles and all.

If it didn't need a large Day1 patch, you might've had me.

A day 1 patch means nothing. All it means is they have been working on alot between the time of disc printing, and the time of release. If it were a week 2 large patch, I might concede the point, but since it will receive the patch before anyone plays the game on release day, how is that even a thing?

By 'this generation', do you mean this-gen (PS3/360) or next-gen (PS4/360) ?, If the later I doubt it, but this-gen is most likely close to its peak visually & performance wise, but next-gen off-loading background processing to 'cloud' servers is an intriguing idea, but this is getting off topic for now.

I'm referring to the PS4/xbox one gen.

In todays market it does, it carries a stigma and brings up the general concern of "what else did they over-look before release ?". This is even more true now that all sorts of gaming-sites regularly review any new releases pre-patch & post, post being a chance for the developer to right any wrongs made.
You overlook the fact that many GT fans don't play online 24/7 or at all, many are/have been playing on the vanilla-release, no patches, no seasonals, no nothing, GT5 1.00, sure they don't have much influence on PD themselves, but 1 friend tells another to skip GT6, he tells more, and so on and so forth, and it can quickly garner a negative reputation, just look at PC Sim racers skipping right over GT5 entirely the first year.

The kind of person who has absolutely no online access for their console, is not the same kind of person to visit a forum site such as this one, nor spread the word about the quality and accuracy of a sim racing game.

Tell that to players from Russia, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, etc, who frequent this and other forums from public-internet (think libraries) but have no access to personal home-internet for a PS3 system.

The alternative to a day 1 patch is a delay. Software is pretty volatile like that, it's hard to hit a deadline when you don't actually know what's going to happen until you start writing, testing, debugging and pulling your hair out. The best way to hit a deadline is to recycle as much old code as possible, to do very little that's actually new.

For those without internet access, they'd be better off to wait for the inevitable "greatest hits" / platinum version a few months down the line. Not ideal, but neither is a delay.

People have an information addiction. The internet is partially to blame. These days there is no such thing as surprises in a game. Its all "need to know" now a days. I was locked up for a grip and had no abundant information, had no internet connection to access things. Had no TV for a bit either. And let me tell you, when you do get TV, CNN isnt whats watched. You get newspapers a week old, letters maybe once, twice a month. It really teaches you that this is indeed an "I need" era and is definitely a priviledge because something just 5-10 years ago we didn't have such ease of access to. That translates to everything and leaves nothing to the imagination. How do those people less priviledged feel? Well I know because I didn't have a smartphone, internet, TV or even freedom. You can say thats my fault and it is, but Im relating to other countries who dont have the easy access to GT6 knowings yet still buy the game because they know one thing, Gran Turismo continues to get better. Might be behind compared to Forza on customization. Might be less realistic compared to Rfactor or iRacing. But theres nothing like a Gran Turismo. And when I got around to being able to have a normal life, and had money enough for a simple extra luxury, GT5 and PS3 was the first game I bought.

Deep.

Past experience for Russia, down at my local track, a Father-Son duo from Russia were running a heavily modified Volvo (I may have a pic of it around on my phone) that pretty much made my civic feel like a Kei-car. We got to talking during the lunch-break and it turned out the Father moved to America to cut as many ties with Russia as possible (broken english and speech had me thinking divorce, I didn't push for details). When I brought up Sim-racing they said they tried LFS & GT5 but didn't like them, best they though was iRacing but didn't like the pricing.

We are pretty much way off topic at this point, troll-mode is wearing off, I've been going at this for too long. :banghead:

Edit* found it, and it's actually a Saab, not a Volvo as I had thought. I'd have to re-size it and all if you really need to see.

True that trustjab, I remember when I didn't have internet access so much or just didn't rely on the internet for everything. I use to just read Game Informer & Game pro to figure out what the new games would be like and just buy the game and get surprised.

Anyway, I guess with that said it's kinda unfair that PD is going by patches to improve the game rather than delay it and put whatever final things in it.

Are people still arguing about CFD?

Not only PD USES CFD A LOT to simulate real cars but it enables them to INVENT purely fictional cars as well, such as Formula Gran Turismo, X2010 and Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car.
Of course they copy and paste some behaviors from each Lancer Evolution to another, for example, just changing the torque and minor details.

It's humanly impossible to own and test 1200 cars on the 7 post rig, since many of those are not produced anymore, being founded only among rich collectors or racing teams.

Did they fix how the B-spec driver would crash into Antony Noghes corner as well? That was an enraging event.
No, they didn't. And it seems that the B-spec driver loves to act in group just like dumb bees or ants, because he nails it SPECIALLY IF SOME AI DRIVER HITS THE CORNER IN FRONT OF HIM! INSTEAD OF PASSING BY AND GAIN A POSITION, he crashes and loses 3 or 4 places.

Aahh the good old days, when someone still had to be home if you wanna reach him on the phone

Dude...it's not a matter of "What else did they overlook before release",It's a matter of "What couldn't we fit in in the time between disk manufacture and release.

I would appropriate it if you would stick to what you actually know and leave what you don't know to someone else. Hardly anyone in Saudi uses libraries for the internet. Everyone has atleast 4mb in thier homes, or internet access through thier mobile phones. EVERYONE. Dare you to prove otherwise.

I'll check in to say I can't connect my console to the internets, yet I'm not dirty peasant. Now it's not his point but mine: businessmen make the products they want for themselves but forget that not everyone can afford a fast and stable connection (my parents suscribed to satellite internets, for example, because they live in the countryside; and it's even more hazardous than the wifi I use). DLC and online features aren't great for everyone.

Just found out the price of the Jaguar XKR-S in-game thanks to GAME UK.
