I mentioned PPP because it's a common alternative to exchange rates, because the latter mean nothing regarding the value of goods offered for sale within a country, as they're only valid for external trade. PPP is deliberately intended to get a more concrete sense of the "value" of a currency in its home market, but not usually for luxury goods. I never said you specifically used it; although I did say "you", when I really meant "one" - a common English grammatical inaccuracy, given the pompous overtones inherently connoted in using "one".

So, you paid 59 CHF for GT5:P and 79 CHF for GT5? Sucks, I guess. Maybe you should write to Sony, because that's not in line with the rest of Europe (but then Switzerland isn't really in line with the rest of Europe in general, so perhaps that's to be expected.)

The US price of Prologue was 2/3rds that of the full game, the Swiss ratio was 3/4 (the highest relatively so far), the Eurozone approx 1/2, and the UK Prologue price was 5/12ths that of the full game.
Clearly we got the best deal, and I suppose all the complaining about "glorified demo" make sense in light of that; even then it's a totally inaccurate and unhelpful complaint, since the real complaint is the price, not the content.

Finally, to reiterate, exchange rates mean nothing for the domestic sale of luxury goods; the price you actually paid indicates better than any equivalent (e.g. exchange rates) what Sony thinks the market you live and operate in is "worth". That's what I meant by "real price". For example, you actually got the full game for £39 by those same 2008 exchange rates, so you really shouldn't be complaining at all... ;)
Actually in 2008 the average prices were clearly higher. New games started at about 89 CHF back then, at the very beginning they even cost up to 99 CHF.

Nowadays I get new games for 69 CHF, although many stores still sell them for 79 CHF. This change did not happen because of a weakening economy or decreasing purchasing power, in fact they're even growing. It's because we had massively excessive average prices here in Switzerland. In comparison to by far the most other nations were still a high-price country. :indiff:
Funny thing is that the electronic section is one of the more pleasant ones.

No I don't think so GT5 has become my 4th favourite racer currently behind two of it's own stablemates Forza 4 and EPR.

Edit: I see no point to a GT6:P as GT5 seems to be just that, and while I do carry high hopes for GT6 my expectations aren't nearly as high as they once were.

Please PD... we do NOT need Prologues. Just give us the full fledged game, not a glorified demo/beta you charge me for.

You'd seriously buy it for that reason? To each his own, but with that train of thought, did you pick up Tourist Trophy and any other game PD has made? All that revenue will fund PD which in turn funds future GT.
I never even Knew Tourist Trophy existed until a year ago so I didnt buy the game. I bought every single GT game I could get in my local game shop and I also bought GT5 twice.

PD releases Prologues because they want us to have something while we wait quiet a bit longer for the full release (with the exception of GT4's delay). If the full release is ready on time, and not like 5 plus years in between, I think they'd just release the full version anyway, not the Prologue. If say, the game is about 2-3 years after its predecessor, then I don't think there will be Prologues.

In other words, saying no Prologue is basically saying hurry the butt up PD!

PD releases Prologues because it's an obvious money hat practice and paid test bed for the full fledged title. All it does is add more development time to the full release. PD are the only developers to do a Prologue type of game for their popular franchise. PD should do as all other devs do and higher/contract people while focusing on their core business, then we won't have to wait 2-3 years for the next full release.

Prologues are simply is not needed. Besides, would you rather have a full fledged GT6 or GT6P?

Hi
If GT6 is a Playstation 3 game, why Kaz and his team didn't make a prologue version of the new gran turismo game. With gt6 prologue, they could had done more profit and more advertise for the final release, and make the new GT Academy only for gt6 prologue. For example if they released the gt6 prologue in the last Christmas, they probably sold more than 5 millions and had a gap of one year between the Gran Turismo6.
The Prologue, for example, only need about 70 cars(40-GT5 and 30-GT6) and only about 7 tracks(4-GT5 and 3-GT6): Silverstone, Matterhorn Circuit, Willow Springs, Autumn Ring, Suzuka, Tokyo Route 246, Circuit de la Sarthe.
With this the fans could wait more patiently.
Somebody else agrees with me?

Because time is running out for PS3. Also consider that GT5 was the base for GT6 not so much work needed to do, thus needing fewer time to make and leaving no space to put out a prologue.

I do agree with you in some areas but I think if they did release a Prologue it would have dampened our excitement and anticipation for the full game. If we had a prologue the full game would just be a major expansion onto it. Plus it might have given PD a reason to delay the full game by significant amount of time to better it after criticism from players and journalists.

Prologue is ridiculous.

The demo we're getting is a million times better.

I'm glad there's no prologue.

Saves me the time and money of having to buy what is essentially a full game with only a handful of content in comparison.

How is any of that good for us, the consumer? They already had 1000 cars and 26 tracks in PS3 quality (Well, PS2 as well) so why would the consumer accept a PS3 game with them removed for no reason?

No, I don't. We only had to wait for 3 years for GT6 to be released. Making a Prologue between that short time frame is pointless and would be nothing but a huge money grab. I'm glad PD decided to make a free demo instead.

One of the reasons GT5 took so long was because of the PS3 itself. Kaz said the PS4 is much easier to work with. If this is true, then hopefully we won't see a need for a GT7 Prologue, as the full game will come out in a more timely manner than GT5 did.

Although there's no prologue for GT6, I'd love to see one for the GT7, since a full release of GT7 is too far away and prologue is a fair way to enjoy next gen.

Ok, but is impossible a demo being better than a game. Plus the GTA academy demo will expired in August 31st.
Back in march of 2008 I bought the GT5 prologue for 20€, is not that expensive, because aGT games generally are better than the others racing games avaiable in market.

Winry

Prologues are simply paid-for demos, and when the full game is released they become obsolete. So, free-to-play demo or pay-to-play? I know what I'd choose.

The full game is coming this year. You can't hang on for a few months?

I'm quite sure PD will bring a prologue, concept, demo or similar relatively early for the PS4.

I even go that far to call 2014 as date.

There was around 3 years between GT5-P and GT5. If there was to be a GT6-P, it would be out already. As previously stated, GT5 is like a big GT6-P.

I also recall KY saying that one of the main aims for GT5-P was to build up an online community so that its established for when GT5 comes out. No need for that anymore.

I think the demo will be enough to keep us going. From the images i've seen, it looks like the demo will be quite big and could also actually be part of the full game (menus etc) and could well stay on our machines and be incorporated into the install data, saving space on the disc for more treats.

Now, if they've managed to squeeze an online mode into the demo, i'll dance on the ceiling.

GT5P was necessary to show what the new platform could do for the franchise. They don't need to do that anymore, hence why I doubt there'll be a GT6P.

If it's due in the fall, and a demo isn't out for a couple of days, then I don't think there's enough time in the schedule for a prologue.
