Only expectations that I have with Grand Valley, besides graphic improvements would time of day & weather changes. Wouldn't want them dedicating too much resources in time to GT5 tracks.

Its GV east. The track looks fine in GT5. The issues needing fixed imo are screen tear and the quality of the surroundings. I personally dont need day night on every track.

It's not just graphics quality, it's just that the whole thing look like it could be GT5. That isn't how you show off a new game. The Silverstone w/ new cars was good but this and Autumg Ring, it's too similar.
I agree with this 50%, that Grand Valley looked just like footage of GT5(trackwise), clock is the same, and clouds are in the same exact location, i disagree with autumnring, as it actually looked very nice, and not at all like the current one.

Something else to consider regarding the graphics is that what we're seeing is a video camera recording of a TV screen displaying the game, chances are there are some graphical details that are simply "lost in translation".

Now I'm not saying that it's suddenly going to be next gen quality graphics when viewed "in person", but I do think there will be some noticeable difference in quality between what we see when watching a "video of a TV showing the game" and what we see "in person" or when game footage is recorded directly from the console.

I mentioned a fact. Whether you think it's a serious one or not is entirely up to you.
Yep, even the start/finish line is in the same place.

I'm sooooo disappointed now.

I don't think GT4 had any very special difference in graphics over GT3. Why some people are expecting something like the second coming of baby Jesus in terms of graphics?

IIRC there was a significant difference visually between GT4 and GT3. Not "very special" or anything, but it was a lot sharper and generally better looking. And that was without using the 480p option that was a bit of a novelty back then on the PS2. Mind you this is just from memory, I've not actually sat here and compared imagery.

It's normal to expect some form improvement, and I think we're getting that with GT6. Certainly the lighting has improved considerably. The biggest issue with GT5 however was reusing old assests on returning circuits, which dragged the visual experience down. Having a better lighting engine and better shadows will help with that but if circuits like Trial Mountain don't improve their textures and trackside detail that must be considered a major letdown graphically.

Anyone else notice the much more realistic noise when the car clipped the barrier, sounded a lot better than the 'thuds' of GT5!

Actually even in GT5 the impact thud is different in roof cam (which was used in the video) compared to any of the other views. Try it.

I'll note that Autumn Ring and Grand Valley were quite hard to find in the demo - I only discovered them after extensive searching through the menus. You also had to "buy" a car (a Leaf or 370Z) before you could access them. I'm really not sure we, the media, were supposed to see them or drive on them. Silverstone was supposed to be the star of the show.

Oh ok then, I stand corrected.

Good work agent Jordan. Was it a full blown dealership you bought
the car from? Did the process differ from GT5?

I've just added 28 Silverstone screenshots I found in the media pack to GTPlanet's blog: https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-6-screenshot-gallery-silverstone-circuit/

No, not really - Nissan was the only manufacturer available, and it only contained two cars. It was definitely a new menu design, however, and fast/responsive to use, as well. 👍

Ooooh that sounds very promising. :) Love the fact that the game loads more faster now, even responsive. 👍

Hopefully that's because of more efficient coding this time, and not because it only had to load two cars :sly:

Thanks for having a snoop and uploading the footage.

GT5 only ever loaded one car at a time in the dealerships. It's all about memory management, GT5 did a lot of useless swapping of data when the whole menu system / structure ought to have been in memory at once, or at least cached as it went along, instead of duplicating work all the time!

EDIT: Regarding impact sounds, it seems that they sound clearer in the demo vids because they're so distorted in GT5, especially from the roof cam - tyre sounds are similarly overdriven in GT5.

It was only a demo with a massively reduced content. Not surprising if the menus loaded faster.

Ok I'm just looking through these new Silverstone screenshots and I have to say the level of detail is ridiculous. I work at silversone and it's impressive how all the little things made it in. For example the corner of the fence points inwards on this media car park pen behind the lake. The seats and the yellow hand rails match perfectly. The outhouses in the old paddock and the big ferns in the central carpark.

Hopefully there's some glitch like Fuji in prologue where I can go exploring. The scale of this place is impressive when you see that this shot is just a small part of this shot which is only a 3rd of the circuit.

I'm surprised they showed that first shot though, the infield looks awful. Obviously you won't see that in game so it doesn't matter but I'm still surprised they showed it off like that.

Aside from the infield texture quality the track does look really quite impressive. I still think PD need to dirty up some of the textures a bit though - every track looks unrealistically clean.

What she said, and I've been harping on this myself, such as in Jordan's news post with these photos. The distance shots look nicely weatherbeaten, but when you get up close and on the track, it almost seems freshly painted and manicured. Among the things Forza gets right is a dirty, abused looking race course. I'm hoping that this is one more thing the rivalry between these two teams nudges Polyphony to work on. Of course the game is far from finished yet, but it does seem to be a Japanese attitude to make everything as neat as possible.

Agreed. The tracks need to look more 'used'.

Funny, because I had that same thought about it would load faster with less cars (two cars). lol

Agreed, but considering how much the improved UI was mentioned, I'd hope that it is not just due to it loading only 2 cars :D
