I do question if the person doing the promo video has even heard any real car. Forget the game sounds, how do you not get the right sounds for a promo video? Those are easiest to get right.

In-fact, I'm gonna show that guy how to properly dub a promo video :sly:

I think this would open a delicious can of worms for PD. like what comes after the tape barrier, a invisible wall? This would be stupid too. Teleportation? Then how far can you go before you get teleported, what happens if you hit one of those spectators. What would happen on Eiger K-Trail if you get trough the tape barrier and right down the chasm? Would it end your race?

In case of the Straw packets, I also don't think there is enough engine power for so many physic objects on the track. The sparse objects that are in GT5 already behave kinda weird. If you hit a cone or something and it behaves like in moon gravity its often a sign for a lack of resources. It also looks a bit slow mo if you flip the car and I think its for the very same reason.

It feels good to read posts that make sense. :D

EDIT: And RACECAR deserves a cookie.

New tyre model?...please.

Torque steer? :D

I experienced this too as I tested if the car still slides sideways if you start on a slope.

Edit: They should've asked PIRELLI to help with the tires, than we would have better physics and finally popping tires.

Everything was a lot more primitive back then.
You could have all of this stuff today too, see games like DiRT, but that would mean no 1080p, no 60 fps, no 500.000 polygon cars, maybe even worse physics, no 16 cars on track, pre-baked lighting and overall worse IQ.

You are absolutely right ... most people here have no idea how a game is created ... in every machine, there is a limited amount of power. When designing a game you need to choose where you will spend that power.

Its basically like one of those diagrams where you have three options (ex: details, resolution and framerate) but only can pick two at a time. PD tries to archive all options at once but in the end you only get the half of each.

You should post this on Kaz's Twitter or Fb page :)

And the other 30% is unsure because you're a time traveller? :sly:

Nice 👍

👍 just 👍 !

Twitter it to Kaz, or I'll do.^^

I just saw that video as well on Jalopnik but I haven't understood your reaction to it. Do you think the sounds are dubbed or not? I'm confused because I honestly think that in some parts it sounds like it was in game but in others it just sounds too suspicious. What's your take guys?

The replay style sounds were dubbed, the bumper cam sounds were in game it seems.

Wait my video or the original?

Personally, I just found it abit lazy that the sounds for the car on a promo video of all things were incorrect. So I downloaded and redubbed it myself.

I think its chance it might be a early build for the sound for that car.

Well considering it wasn't a promo video,it was actually a concept video and the fact you dubbed it so quick and it sounds much better makes me believe that the sound in the video is actually coming from the car.I hope it is because its a big step in the right direction.

No chance. It's all dubbed. There is no way one car would sound that different at different times, but from the same viewpoint. It's dubbed, like almost every other trailer PD has released. The only one recently I remember that wasn't dubbed was the Standards showcase for GT5.

You'll know when you hear the new sounds; probably because PD will tell you you're hearing the new sounds. ;)

You know this isn't the first time PD have faked sounds in a video, right? I'm not sure why you think in game sounds are capable of sounding like three different engines.

Do you guys not see how weird it is that out of all of the videos PD released with dubbed sounds, this one sounds so wonky?Thats all im saying it just seems weird that they can make seamless sounding dubs yet mess this one up, RACECAR did it in a day...I mean just because it sound like its coming from different engines doesn't take a early build out of the equation (it actually further shows that they are at least working on something). The fact this video sounds so weird and that its a concept brought me to the conclusion that they are working on something, and considering Kaz said they are working on the sounds, I put 2 and 2 together.Or it could mean they are working on the dubbing, who knows.

Pd have dubbed trailers in the past to cover up the shoddy real sounds. If they were working on something new but it wasn't finished yet and sounded bad why on earth would they showcase them in a trailer rather than simply continue to dub the videos?

It's a bad dub, simple as that.
