Cracking week this week! Really really nice that Race A is just FF's and B is actually a decent length. While I really hope this is a positive change for the future I suspect Race B is that length because they only change a couple of things each week and may have not realised with B 🙈

Here's this weeks guide for those interested.

Another week, more races ruined because PD can't balance a class. GR3 at Spa is a fun combination, or has the capacity to be, but I'm punished because I don't want to use the meta car and nothing else is close to the same pace.

At this point I'm deliberately bleeding DR just so I can have some competitive races. If it's even worth the effort at this point, because I'm really starting to dislike GT7.

I think that is part of the frustration, it's ok that a car is a little stronger on different tracks/tires but that the gap is pronounced and that is compounded the faster and more consistent you get in DR.

In A and above lobbies some weeks it's nigh on in possible not to race in the meta or second meta.

What kills me is that the game has some great track cars, like the Zonda R. Toss in a Zonda R cup race for fun. Or the Aston Vulcan, or Valkyrie, or the P1, etc, etc...

So many possibilities, so little action

But it can be massively fun the other way as well with hot hatches (like A used to be with DR on)

I appreciate you can't float everyone's boat every week but 2 same class races and then arguably the most fun Gr cars for fun hustle and bustle racing but no DR?

So many options.

What I am hoping is this is a week for data gathering ahead of the update to see if they can more finely balance the cars for the different race hoppers they use.

Last week was a blast on The Nurb. Half the week from behind and then put a 7.02.7 that granted me a start in top 3-5. Sadly, I could bring only two wins. The last one was from pole yesterday at peak hour. Being top DR.B with no A or A+ in sight help me on this one.

Also had the best bit of racing probably ever! Some good side by side action on Green Hell is something. Guys behind us were also clean and patient. Unfortunately, it did end with the opponent going off track. Message the guy after the race to tell I tried my best to be clean and leave space and all was good on his side.

Oh , absolutely!

There's all those "Evo meetings" in the single player, and the Ferrari races, etc. Do a race that's all Renault hot hatches!! Or just French!! Or Abarth 500 versus Mito!!

They had PP limited racing back when the suspension adjustment allowed for exploits. Then, they removed that exploit, but also NEVER have PP limited racing again. Like, why??? How hard is it to say 500PP FF cars, on SH tires, pick a track, and then go. Heck, Lock out the adjustments (because so many don't want to hunt for set up), but let us USE the cars that we have collected.

They keep throwing this quasi classic DTM at us, but I can tell you (because I have done it) that at 600PP on SS tires, the Merc, Sierra, and M3, are all really close. Why not that?

I've been saying the same thing since GT Sport was released. An automated system woudl do a better job than a person in choosing dailes.

And when they try albeit with the Jimney engine swaps made the whole thing a bit meh.

Give us single class single make races with DR. Arrive and drive, they have the option to halve DR for races rather than just remove it.

I appreciate their sentiment as it's the gateway to ranked racing but A does get really weird races that don't "sell" the joy of online competitive racing, after you've done a few but you can't see the ranking improvement it must be a bit meh.

Since you're able to see the tire temps, can you say whether or not it helps to swerve back and forth at the start?
I always see people doing it, and assume it's a waste of time.

A race with no DR impact is like a game of poker for candies instead of real money.
If theres no risk/benefit involved it turns boring to me.

Race A and B look fun. Might dabble in those later this week.

Race A: Scirocco Gr.4 - 1:29.531 I borked a handful of lower 1:29s. Since there are no Civic or Integra Gr.4s, I did a blasphemy:

full

Race B: NSX Gr.3 - 2:18.426

Race C: NSX Gr.3 (default settings) - 1:27.570 I borked a handful of lower 1:27s spinning out of the final corner.

As I said this and reflected it a bit, this is what the GR3 are right now, single make. Sigh they are not the funnest close racing cars
I'm pretty sure I was passed by just about every manufacturer in the game at some point on the mountain this weekend.🤬

I know Spa is typically bemoaned as a Supra Showdown, but every time I've entered there's been a nice variety on tap. Sure, half the field might be meta, but it's not like a Gr.4 Huracan grid, either.

Are they getting Gr.3 closer to a good balance or is it just the crap-can lobbies I hang-around in???🤣

I personally find the Supra horrible to drive, If they would just nerf the top speed a small bit you would see a different race, the ability to outrun anything else is all it has going for it. Unfortunately the nature of Spa means it will continue to be the meta.

I think it really depends on lobby splits.

The ones I end up in are pretty fast like top 1000 fast and I sit in the middle mostly, if I drop a split then I can usually run at the front with off meta cars.

Sometimes you'll have some of the ex tour drivers running cars off meta or meme, other times you have fast guys like maxpower who just loves to 360 no scope on command.

But in the lesser but second or 3rd split lobbies, you are racing attrition over cars.

It's all relative and that's cool, the faster peeps want to be in the fastest car....nature of the beast. Those with talent beyond us mortals can play and win or go from the back in anything.

I don't mind the meta stuff, I just wish there were competitive accessible stuff that didn't require alien skills to drive or get the luck of the lobbies

We cross posted by ages (sorry mods, not deliberate)

The supra has something quite unique I think in GR3 in that it has a useable first gear and awesome 3rd gear. The high speed it has is absolutely class breaking but that's gearing, first is long (so much easier to get on the throttle. 3rd is so so flexible so it eases corner speed and exit drama, and then just it will hit nearly 170mph.

I personally prefer the GTR to drive but for spa I do agree the Supra is pretty much the only way to be fast (if you are consistent)

Good points but it is still very disheartening to try different cars only for the Supra to blow by you at every opportunity 🤣🤣 I love the BMW as well as the NSX but the bop is all wrong, only my opinion of course, plenty of people can make these cars work, I understand that.

It's massively depressing when the pace is just faster than what you/me are in.

But this is a combo that laid itself out a couple of years ago so we have to suck it up, it's a tough race at any DR if you are lapping at the same times.

The positives are that RS tires although I don't mind mediums or hards. The pace is pretty fast just looking at my friends times, this is a fluctuation of nearly a second from 1 to 10!

👍 tomorrow evening I will give it a go, I'm pretty sure I will be chasing your time 😉 I'm at the lowest of the low at B now but to be fair I haven't really had much time lately. Must knuckle down and get back into it 👍

As much as I enjoy racing online, the experience of it feel old. Not much has change since the launch of GTS in 2017.

So much potential and yet, we always race the same dozens of cars from GR.4 to GR.1.
How many cars in the game? Please give us some monomake races of any streets cars in the game. one race a week could keep us busy like what... two years of differents cars.
PD gives us free cars in monthly update and they don't even think of creating an event around new cars.

Same can be said about tracks, some tracks are barely race.

Why keep weather and time out of the daylies. Why only World Series once a week gets the features that make the game stands out. Those two features are probably worth a good amount of money development and staff wise. Why are they not always on in the daylies!!!

It might add 1 degree to the temps but you really need to be "Over" steering the car as in over turning the wheel and accelerate to really get temp into the tyres and nobody does that while weaving.

Also I jumped back on and Daily Race A has to be the most balanced set of cars I've seen to date. It's amazing! Got 3 top 10 laps on it with 3 different cars while waiting for a video to render (P1, P3, P6). The cars I tried can all get a mid 26 as their optimum.

What I am hoping is this is a week for data gathering ahead of the update to see if they can more finely balance the cars for the different race hoppers they use.

Especially race C with tuning allowed could help them with bop setups if people are able to make the non-meta cars faster. They should have few slots with tuning allowed and no DR - races, to let people really try and level the field with tunes.

Its only tuesday and i'm split if I should grind DR in race C with RSR to reach DR A+ or try my best to make the never loved gr.3 Mustang as competitive as possible.

3 attempts at Race B today all with the Genesis X. It goes well in this race for me.

2 ruined by my errors (3 1/2 second lead on lap 3 and I miss my breaking point at the Chicane, and just before I get back onto track it resets me was my worst).

The other race was ruined lap 1 because the other driver didn't like me going around them and ran me off the road.

Ok, last week the 911 was still able to keep up on the straights, not at Spa unfortunately. Made few practice laps following Tidgney's ghost and the 911 is ridiculously losing down Eau rouge till Kemmel's end and from Stavelot till Bus stop. It means that to be competitive there's a lot to do in braking and corners to get back that gap (ridiculous I repeat my self). I nevertheless think that it will not be enough to keep at bay those Supras on straights. So I jumped on the Supra just at the end, for few laps. Need to "learn" the car a bit, but in straight line, at least down Eau rouge to Kemmel's end, I'm now even gaining some 1/2 tenth to Tidgney's ghost. I love the 911, but for Spa I'll be on a Supra. I see the 911 coming back hard only at Race C. Btw, wishing a nice racing week to everybody.

Someone got an idea for LSD settings to improve traction with the Porsche on Deep Forest? Did a few practice laps yesterday and have a 1:27:5. I maybe can try to approach the 1:26:x this week. These cars can be slippery on corner exits. I still find it hard (on a controller) to find something between 100 % throttle or almost no throttle. Difficult to gently increase the throttle every corner, instead of just ramming it to 100 % very fast. My LSD settings were 10 / 50 / 10. Was not disappointed, but can be adjusted further for a more safe feeling maybe. Not faster per se.
