That's proper fast though, i cannot beat a 34.4 even cutting the first 2 corners like a flat out cheater. And 34.4 is plenty competitive in A lobbies.

BTW saw two guys blow their engines yesterday, made me jump as I wasn't expecting it.

The senna s is a test of who can cut the corner the most. I really don’t like the ‘computer game turns’ (can’t think of a better name) that a lot of tracks have. They feel silly. Death Chicane at seaside, or the bus stop at Daytona last week. You are forced to take them in a way you never could in real life to get the best time and it kind of breaks the immersion for me.
I haven’t seen anyones engine explode yet but I have to change my oil about every 200 miles on the RCZ, I feel dumb just saying it.

When you say blow their engines - in what sense?

Did the cars lose power etc. ?

No full blown smoke, kablammo stuff. I assume was an engine, thick black smoke and car fires itself into the weeds.

Agree 100%, always hated the COD but senns S is a magnificent complex, especially as it leads to the perfect left hander, not too fast, not too slow, for passing.

I'm high B. Do you think a 34.5 will start me near the front?

No idea, i THINK the lobbies are split PS4 and PS5 so they are thin so you may be chucked in with A+ and A drivers. I am PS4 and see a few A+, lots of A and several B in each race.
Ya, ps5 lobbies for me have been like that. I suppose trying a race can't hurt much but Daytona had a ton of first lap shoving which would ruin my chances at a good finish.

We can only deduce that at any one time there are only 3 maybe 4 A+/S drivers in the entirety of the EMEA region at any one time on a PS5 turning up to any one race. Maybe most the A+ guys are on a PS4.

If I were to theorize I think the top level drivers are being careful until the official season starts. It was a pattern in GTS, you'd see them week of FIA. Not so much in between except maybe on the Top 10 list. When you're A+ there's only one way your DR can go, down.

I've been racing at Interlagos again on ps4 and ps5.

Both were dirty today, ps4 maybe a bit worse. Connection strength is still better on ps4 and there are less players as well. Which means I start higher up in the grid than on ps5, gain more DR and credits. PS4 is the place to race to gain DR. On PS5 I start last or nearly last with my 1:35 quali time and don't make it much further than 10th on ps4 I can reach top 5 finishes. A bit unbalanced while both player bases enter nations/manu races together...

Penalties are completely broken as usual. Every race it gets things wrong, only a clear punt seems to work most of the time (as in the right car getting the penalty). Track limits in T2 are still off, trigger rarely. Drivers that go straight from T1 to T3 gain time and no penalty at all. Anyway it's beating the fossilized remains of a dead horse at this point. It's just one of the old broken GT Sport penalty algorithms dug back up from the graveyard.

It still feels great to nail a lap on Interlagos, but it could all be so much better :/

Edit, just got 2 sec penalty for cutting T2 after a car pushed me off in T1. Why am I not surprised...

I did lap after lap and managed to get my Porsche time down to 33.7 and I know I can do better on a couple of turns. But after all that sweaty driving, I'm done for the day.

Maybe I'll buy a couple of new Gr3 cars and make a livery.

Oh that would be news to me that a lapped car can still cause "damage". In GTS it was at least not possible to push one of these drivers out after being lapped. I hope PD will solve this problem in GT7.
It actually looks to me as if we are driving on a very early GTS multi player build, there's lots of things that got patxhed out in GTS that are back now

Did a lot of race B today. Managed a 3rd and 2nd place until I got promoted to DR B. After that I’m always starting P10 or worse because my qualifying time sucks.

How does the matchmaking works? I get matched with players with the same DR/SR and similar qualifying times?

It hit me really hard, especially in race B.

I on 3rd followed the other two with about 1.5 seconds.
At the beginning of lap 2, number 2 drains the leader really badly so that he slams into the gang before the Senna S and spins..
He is thrown straight onto the lane in my line.. I have no chance to dodge and hit him hard..
As a reward I get a ****ing 5 second penalty... That's really a laughing stock.

With 5 seconds and if you think about where the Brenszone is there.. I lost about 8 seconds..

No more chance of a good result...

I think hard and more penalties are basically good and necessary. But something like that should NOT happen.

Someone bombed me and got a 3 second penalty which put off everyone else behind lol. I got my qualy down to 1.32.18 but it just feels completely different in race and struggle to hit 33s.
This is because in qualy, fuel consumption is turned off, and an empty tank is simulated. In the race, fuel consumption is on, so you start with a full tank.

Hey guys,
does someone know the algorithm behind the online races ?
I want to get to 'A' Rank but I seem to be blocked in races with only B drivers.
My times on Daily A : 1.08.5; Daily B : 1.33.9. Didn't yet try Daily C.
In Daily A i'm often in the first 3 and I finish also often in the first 3.
In Daily B i'm not good enough and i'm 5-9. I also often spin out in races then I quit 😅 Hard race. Maybe I should play this one with TC 1.

What I want to know is, is it only the time you do in qualification(so I have to get better and do better times) or you have to win races to get promoted ? What is taken into account ?

I didn't play GtSport btw so I don't know how it worked before.

I got from DR C to B with a ****y qualification time so it’s no that. I was consistently placing in top 5.
Ok then I could just "farm" race A to get to DR A ?
Even though it's useless to do it but just to understand how it works.

It likely works the same as GT Sport.

Only your finishing position counts.

You gain 80 +/- (DR difference/500) from every player you finish ahead off and give that to every player you finish behind.

The difference between your and their DR changes the base amount of 80 per player. If you beat a higher DR player you get more than 80 points, but less for beating a lower DR player.

However you can't see what DR everyone has, only the letter. The ranges are:

DR D 1 - 3,999
DR C 4,000 - 9,999
DR B 10,000 - 29,999
DR A 30,000 - 49,999
DR A+ 50,000 - 99,999

It takes a while to gain points to advance. The more players in the room, the more you can gain (and lose).
DR C is only 6,000 points, DR B is 20,000 to get through to A.

Thanks for the info.
But then can't you just do a poor qualification time, begin near last or last and then try to finish ahead of most people in the race ?
Seems way easier like this. 🤔

QT doesn't matter. Only DR/SR.
Indeed.

It has to do a lot with our last finished places, altought qually have a tiny thing to do with it, although only for the starting grid.

Will try to explain albeight my bad English. Example of daily B races (field of 16 cars).

If we finish in top 3 (don't really know if 1 or 2 races), next race we will have a better 'B' field with better qually times.
Sometimes we will have mixed A, A+ players with similar qually times but a bit better than B players. Sometimes even better.
That is why our starting position will drop a bit.

If we finish between 10 and 16 (2 or 3 races), next race we will have a better starting position with some lower qually time players.
That is why sometimes we will have some C players mixed field with qually times near to B players. Sometimes even better.

I hope I could make it understandable.

Cheers

Edit: I was beaten by @Sven Jurgens and with a lot better explanation.
