I actually had a day to "kinda" race, which for me means I was able to do about 6 races.

I only tried Races A and B. Race A was hilarious. I love racing momentum cars - reminds me of learning to drive in the 80s when every car was a 4cyl econobox. You haven't lived until you pass an 18-wheeler going uphill in a Nissan Pulsar! That is some strategy.

Got a podium and top 5s in the A race, then went into the B race with a C/S rating. I had one QT lap in the Alfa at Yamagawa when the light went green, starting P15. I really did not have anything like a handle on this circuit.

@GrumpyOldMan was somewhere starting in the top 5ish. I was doing really well, batting into the top 10, made a mistake, hit the wall, recovered and finished the race not quite last.

I had one podium, 2 top 5s, NO penalties, and generally clean racing, even from our Southern brethren. But my DR at the end of the day was D/S???

So I wasn't able to stay in the lobby with GOM, having been assigned the water wings again.

But, it seems like there were a number of good drivers in the D lobby last night. I had a race-long battle with an RSR and GTR fighting for P12, with me actually getting P10 after last lap heroics from drivers ahead of us.

Anyone notice that they can't hear their own car during a race? I have altered the sound settings in-game to increase car sounds, decrease opponents cars, turned off BGM, etc., but when the light goes green on a race (not QT), I can't hear my car's engine, relying entirely on the HUD to know when to shift. I have not changed a thing about my hardware, and it does not happen when I race the AI. It's costing me tenths during races.

the whole silent car thing is a known bug that was introduced during the last update (I think). Usually it goes away on it's own (I've not had it in back to back sport races) but won't go away during a race (sometimes it goes away if you make a pit stop). It totally sucks for sure and slows us down.

I actually like it. Lots to learn and improve. I started with laps in the 2:30s, then was able to shave off two seconds by trying and improving. And still some potential improvements ahead.
What I don't like is how some people drive there, just diving into the tricky parts and see what happens - no matter if other drivers are ahead who try to drive it properly. But that's the same on some other tracks, especially the "normal" Kyoto track, as I painfully remember...😆
You know what it feels like to me? A perfectly good track run backwards. It's so awkward, corners close radius instead of open, you're always tentative, there's no flow.

I completely get that. It's the same for me on some other tracks (Sardegna B and C backwards for example), but on this one it clicked for me after three or four practice laps. I especially love the final sector. @Tidgney stated in his great video that you can't take the fast downhill esses without lifting. I'd say: yes you can. At least 3 out of 4 times 😬😆.

Err... edit after some extra research: 2 out of 4 times.🤣

Wow. The SR drops in Race C are brutal. Every small tap of someone who braked way too early drops you a whole level. I’ve just been reset to mid A from A+ because people are braking in the Porsche curves in the 919.

Absolutely mental.
You're not alone.
The vast difference in braking points for older and newer Gr.1 cars at Le Mans has caused me to have several DR/SR resets over the last 5 years. :banghead:

*Also, going out of my way to murder those jerks who swerve to block me on the straights, when I've got a 30+ mph speed advantage, hasn't helped. :embarrassed:

Just ran a few Daily C at Le Sarthe. Love Gr1 there, but the 919 not so much. Still, tried once from the back and simply got smashed around and rammed off too much. Qualified and have had much better races. Including getting a 3 second lead and then spinning off. Still clawed back a p2.

Then got 2 wins in lobbies that had @Stephan In them. Managed to recover after someone banged around slightly at the start and caught up to @Stephan in the lead and sneak past while he had to serve the traditional track cut penalty. Manged to hold on in the end. Next race I was sloppy and just barely holding p4 when all of a sudden end of lap 3 all but 1 in front of me pit. Next lap the last guy pits. Suddenly I'm cruising with a 6 second lead. So of course I get super cautious, sloppy and nearly blow it, including getting a penalty and nearly crashing on the final chicane, but held on for win 2 of the night.

Now if I can just get a full clean race since I'm still SR A after the war zone of the first lobby of the night
I was super bummed that I had two chances to win a race for Race C but the track limit breaches really screwed me over big time.

As for today was quite eventful but after yesterday's heartbreaks, I managed to get two wins on the board (my first as well around Le Mans for GT7) and it featured @Redneckchef in both of those sessions.

In those wins it was down to fuel management load where my strat was saving enough fuel to for me to go all out in around laps 4 and 5 or sometimes for the last lap depending on how much I've saved fuel because it depends whether I may have been forced to crank down the fuel saving just to try and get closer to the other players. Here's what my stint looked like for laps 1-4 and I'm sharing because @Redneckchef was curious as to what my fuel strat looks like.

The races meanwhile it felt like it was just me and him throughout the race though I will say he's done a nice job of creeping up to me and making me sure that I don't make a mistake because he was consistent in those races.

Here's my little beast, if i get my lap right I should break 1.40. Surprisingly fun to be bog slow in corners then hammer down the straight.

I will experiment with other tyres and less HP to see what yields the best results.

I saw you said "Hi", but I'm not good at texting quickly, so a lot of times I don't bother. I'm in and out of the lobbies for race B all day, but for right now I'm not doing a lot of back-to-back races because I learn some things I need to work on, and go back to QT until I feel like I'm ready or more. Or I decide I want to mess with a different car, or tinker with my liveries.

Hope to see you again out there. I just got back to B/B, so with a little luck I'll get back to B/S, since there seems to be a much cleaner attitude on this track. So far, anyway. Knock on wood.

A is more fun than I gave it credit for actually, they're proper fun little cars to knock about. Gave it a go earlier and set a 1:36, which turned out to be good enough for 30th - somewhat unexpectedly. I'm assuming that's just because not many people are doing it, as it was still a fair few seconds off the top time.

Put me in pole by about 3 seconds for my first race, made for an easy cruise but the DR range was pretty rough and as an A+ I was racing with C drivers, which is pretty dire.

Give it the benefit of the doubt of being in the middle of the working week though, the evenings are likely to be better.

1:freaking 36???😱

Your tuning settings, please, or...: 🐶🔫

36? Share the tune chief! And no i don't have an engine I can swap in.

Driving these things is interesting as I am a real "stop HARD, pivot, point and fire on the gas" type of guy so it's interesting on rubbish rubber how much sliding, gentle sliding, is needed as it's more important to keep your foot in it than it is to take traditional lines.

Okay. The person who sent it to me wanted to win a few races doing last to first before I shared it because soon everyone would run basically the same tune. I was thinking of doing last to first but he also said that dirty driving is extremely easy with the track being open, so this may be my last video on the race.

Other than what is shown, widebody and wheels, all aero parts and roll cage. ASM on immediately gained me 4 tenths of a second.

Hilariously fast but equally funny trying to control it

Had an enjoyable morning with Race B. Yesterday ran 18 qualifying laps. This morning set up a custom race for 24 laps. Beat the AI for the race, but could not get FL. The repetition was so helpful on the course. Immediately went into a race in P3 and binned it (myself) to last place. I guess I should have taken a break. haha. Made it back to P6 on that race. Next race started in P2 and slipped to P3, but I was competitive and consistent. Who knows how much time I'll have the rest of the day/week for longer sessions of practice or racing, but it feels good to get these gains today.

Oh god, they are almost as bad as people who add sugar and milk to coffee
I don't brake at the Porsche Curves, I just lightly lift up for a blip and continue on, as for the coffee, I have always had cream & sugar with mine, not that nasty coffeemate or similar and I use REAL sugar not chemicals....

I am not mental...

if you're in the 919 you don't have to lift. The trick is making sure you're starting the first arc earlier than later. staying wide runs the risk of joining the gravel trap on the left hand side

Exactly, no braking or lifting in Porsche curves and no milk in coffee😂

Thank you and stuff your "no milk" ideas....

Will elaborate on the helpful no braking tip later...

Out of curiosity, what tyres are you all using for the Mini? I've compromised by opting for Comfort Hards and I can't figure out if it's the tyres or the tune I'm using which is making the car awful to drive.

It's not engine swapped.

Am using comfort hards for mine, though it is engine swapped which I suppose is the real kicker in all of this.

I know the tune for the guy in 1st is floating around so I'm trying to hunt that down right now. I've managed to pull off a 1:35 but the ghost of 1st is an absolute rocket in the straights.

Im right there with you. I got slaughtered my first race of the week and have been fighting to recover ever since. Even had 3 straight races with only 1 0.5 penalty each race and still SR A. Then start this morning trying a sneaky slow hours race to try and have clean track. Nope. Sandwiched between 2 SR B rated drivers on the grid. But neither of them did anything, another driver PIT maneuvered me into turn 1 lap 2 but watching the replay he just misjudged it and thought he was clear behind me. Mass damage and a track reset led to a collision with a 787 while I was slow and in 5th gear in the Porsche curves to try and avoid it. Oh well. Back to the drawing board

also, for the love of god, do not brake through Maison Blanche. as soon as you straighten out from the last of the porsche curves hard left, it'll stick. Trust me. Feels sketchy the first time and then every time after it's blissfully stuck to the ground

This made me laugh out loud, cheers mate :D!

Daily C has surprised me tonight.

Over the weekend I did some practice lobbies and I found the racing incredibly boring. I was struggling to fuel save and even hybrid save. Jumped on tonight not expecting much luck and to do maybe 2 races max. Ended up doing 6 races. I was mixed in with half and half of A and B drivers. Had 2 bad races, 1 due to ghosting issue. In the 2nd chicane a car had gone wide and as they gained speed mid corner they unghosted and I had no time to react to this ended up getting taken out. Other issue in my final race was a leading car had damage and going slow down the Mulsanne Straight. As I was slip streaming the car ahead moved out but I didn’t have time to react. Have pretty solid results in all races. Best was P6 but should have been P5 but out braked myself, and the other P7-P10.

Other thing I found as well was the racing was 90% clean. Yes still have some idiots crashing but majority was fair and clean.

Not even going to bother with Daily B! See it’s just 155s buzzing around again, plus I’ve seen some pretty dirty racing on live streams
