I broke down and upgraded to a PS5... only a few races in but the added 'richness' of the feedback is really useful to me. I think I'll be able to be a little quicker and more competitive on the new machine. Which is good, because in the US, at a high-A DR level, it's tough to move up. I'm often matched in what I assume are the top splits on Dailies, given the few A+ guys with alien-like QT next to their names. So winning isn't usually the objective, scraping up enough DR to move up is. And that means Top 5's or bust, because anything less doesn't even move the needle, and it's easy to lose more than what you can earn with a bad race.

So I was really pumped to grab a win this afternoon at Suzuka... and on top of that, it was as fun and respectful of a race as any I've been in. That I won only made it better, but I'd have been happy to finish 4th amongst that crew, as it was really clean and smart racing from the drop of the flag. Lap 1 shows you what it's like to race hard and respectful, even with contact, but keeping it fair. Lap 2 was more of the same. Final lap, with the NSX bearing down on me over the last few laps, was really epic.

(also: which of you is "GTP_worstdriver" or something like that? Thought maybe I'd know you if that meant you were one of us here.)

Man that Daily Race C is tyre shredder 😬 Had softs and mediums go off at the last lap of each stint, which probably cost me like 5 seconds in the race. Had a 9 second lead with mediums start of lap 7, but lost the lead after the hairpin on last lap 😓

Oh well, I may need a better car on the tyres in the race, since I am extremely bad at tyre saving. And yeah a weird mixed lobby, but that B/S Spaniard was quick regardless.

I hear ya, i hear ya. 2 weeks ago the little bar must haver been 99% of the way full, i was one top 3 from A+ I reakon and nope, just failed. Now it's sloooowly moving to the left.

Same, I was probably 300-400 pts away from the A+ line, stayed up late to run another, and was promptly punted by some idiot at LeMans. Then tried 'one more' and got the same result. It's like there is a force field around it, or a memo that other drivers see, to make sure you can't cross the threshold.

you shall not pass the lord of the rings GIF

But re: PS5. There is no doubt that the extra detail in the feedback and frame rate / etc allow me to be faster. I immediately took a few tenths off my QT at Lemans, which was in the 3:17's, and I felt like I could have pushed it more once I found where the spots I was leaving some time were.

And racing in close quarters at 9.5/10 pace is much better when you feel like you have finer control and inputs to work with.

Loving Suzuka, such a satisfying and rewarding track if you can get it right.
Had a pretty terrible first half of this race but a great second half.
Starting I. The medium in P2 again, I was ok for 2 laps but then I made a few errors which lead to 4 cars passing me. Went deep at spoon and then hit the wall in 130R and got a nice 1.5 penalty punishment too for my troubles. After my stop I was 1 second behind P4 but still had my 1.5 to serve. Now 4 seconds back with 3 to go. Lap 8 & 9 I didn’t really make up ground but then the last gap I gained 2.5 seconds, and then the run up to 130R I had P4 on my front bumper. Managed to undercut P4 in 130R (with a slight shortcut maybe) and then hang the car round the outside into the chicane. Went on to get P4.

In the race I thought this was a great overtake, but after seeing the replays back was I a bit too aggressive into the chicane. Looks I was turning into the AMG for the right hander.

I quite like this week's races A and B. C might be better, but I really suck at Suzuka, so I'll stay out.

Did one race A, not really knowing what I was doing, just trying not to touch anyone except for some bump drafting, was in the leading group of cars for most of the race before falling back to P7 in the final lap after a little mistake. But what do you know, shortly before the finish line, I dive through a puff of smoke, not even able to see what happened, and on the results board there is written: P3. Oopsie.😆

Race B has been more fun than I had anticipated so far. I'm ashamed to admit that once again I'm quicker in the Alfa than in any other Gr4 car😬. Did some practice laps with a half-decent Q time, but out of my usual caution I changed to my second account for the races. First one without quali in a very mixed lobby (from A/S to B/B), from starting P15 to finishing P8, with some really good battles, side-by-side action, and people NOT retaliating or doing wild **** when having been overtaken. I'm finally starting to learn some race craft. Setting up a move over the course of several corners and than finishing it feels quite satisfying.🥳
Next one in a pure B/S lobby (I don't understand how PD manages the lobby setups), had done a quali lap in the meantime and unexpectedly started from pole with a time that would have been 6th or 7th on the grid in the previous race. Go figure. I bring home the W in a rather boring one, but CRB, no mistakes, quite happy with that anyway.

I watched the replays of all three races: have people finally learned? All three races showed remarkably clean and respectful driving throughout. Here's hoping for more of that for the rest of the week.🍻

Having a blast with the Vette at Daytona. Currently sitting #1 in the world on Race A's qualifying leaderboards :D. Much more fun and harder to drive than the Gr3 cars they had on the oval a while back.

Always love when PD puts an oval race as a daily race.

Well, last time we had an Oval daily race it was a lot of fun, so I decided to hop again with the new one.......

........so the game decided to put me with Kie and "his friends" during his stream  (@GOTMAXPOWER too, of course :sly:)

A chaotic but amazing race was the result

Ah, you’re on here too. Thrilling race and nice IndyCar livery on your Corvette. I happened to record that particular race as well. From my POV:

According to the Kudosprime tracker thing, I'm ~200 pts from DR A+... cue the dirty drivers to all come out of the woodwork for my next race...

@KosmoKazi I’m GTP_Worstdriver ;)
Long time lurker around here, I’m on the dailies fron time to time when I like the combos. This week, I’m gonna spend most of my time in Race C. Had a great on track battle with a guy named Awater or something. We gave each other room, very good racecraft.

Has anyone else noticed the Braking Area Assists on St. Croix are, for the most part, totally unreasonable? Most of them are way too short for any of the cars I've tried. I like to use them to help get to know a track, but they're really no help here. At least to me.
BUT, as well all know, it's AWD or die in GTS which is such a shame as group 4
I think the Swift Sport can be competitive, if you know how to drive FF cars.
I cannot remember the corners, especially somewhere as homogoenised as St Croix
Right there with you. This is one of the times I wish GT7 allowed you to attach notes to corners, so you could remind yourself of something coming up. Like having a rally car navigator.

Maybe see you around. You were ahead of me and faster IIRC though so maybe I won’t, even if I do! Cool to meet you.

I noticed the same thing Grumpy

Race C is pretty fun this week, as I think is the general consensus.

Did a couple races on the 2 account. Not a whole lot to report; the last one was fun. Started P2 and the guy in front had a moment coming out of that tight left keyhole and I took the lead. He was quicker than me and it was all I could do to hold him off. There are a couple of corners I just must not be taking correctly as I was losing a bit of time every lap. I was able to stave him off until we both pit at the end of lap six. On pit entry he must've clipped the pit line because when we came out he had a 3 sec penalty.

That was basically all she wrote. He was catching but in the esses of the last lap something must've happened because he went from ~2.0 seconds back to like 8 seconds back.

I think you're fine for a couple reasons. The first being he hard squeezed you entering the braking zone for the chicane to the point where you almost ran off. You turn in but there's enough room for his car up the inside. He spun not because you squeezed or made contact but because he was trying to get on throttle quicker.

Well, I was excited for some Daytona racing, but I felt underwhelmed with the races I did. I couldn't get any proper bump drafting going with anyone. I don't know if it's because people didn't know how or didn't want to. I'm also bummed out that I took myself out of races by just getting "sucked" into the wall trying to get a train going on the outside when I had some momentum. I did get taken out intentionally once trying to pass for the lead. But, when I went back up the track I took out the driver who hit me so that worked out for me. I just hope to keep it out of the wall tomorrow and that everyone figures out a draft line is way more efficient than fighting for position.

Hi guys. Been a while. Just picked up GT7 over the weekend, and I'm trying to figure it out. Got my licenses and opened sport mode. Trying to figure it out. Figured with BOP on, I could be competitive, but I got smoked at Suzuka in a rented Supra that ate tires and had no brake balance, and drove my favorite gr1 908 pug yesterday, and it was a slug. Does tuning affect BOP? Why no brake balance?

I had that same issue, car just doesn't handle well pulling out to pass high. Really disappointed, did two races and got shuffled back trying both races. Then I got fed up with the 10 minute race gap and went to race C, much better. Wanted to like the oval, but too short and I think sport softs would make a better drive.

BOP overrides tuning. They took away brake balance in GT7 BOP races for some stupid reason, really annoying.

Had a weird thing happen tonight in race C.... As the race was getting ready to start I lost my car !!
Next thing I know I'm looking out of the P1 car and can control views and my wheel was making moves as
this car was moving. I was hitting all kinds of buttons trying to find my car, finally found it on lap 3 when the
P1 car lapped it and showing I had a big penalty and had just wrecked.

I never did get control back and bailed from the race. Any one else have this happen before?

Also I have two cars in my garage that GT says is unavailable, the 97 Supra and the RX Vision.
Anyone know what's up with that ??

I don't think you could have left him much more space without taking yourself out. If he hadn't spun, you both might be still driving side by side...😆

Idk about the race but those are the two prerelease cars right? You may need to go into your playstations settings and Restore Liscenses for your games. Easy and quick; hopefully

Finally a combo at which I don’t feel completely useless. A 2.00 quali lap in both the RSR and BRZ, went with the Porsche for the race. Good enough for 3rd on the backup DR C account.

Solid race, a few errors in sector 1 and had issues all race at the hairpin - car kept trying to over-rotate. Stayed mostly out of trouble, finished 5th.

Was great to be in a race with loads of different cars. The winner was in a McLaren, several GTRs, Astons, even a Suzuki - not a Supra in sight. Oh for the same thing in gr4.

Normally I would definitely agree with you here but unfortunately bump drafting someone seems to make you lose the CRB, which I'd rather not if I can help it. Therefore I don't.

Or has anyone managed to keep the CRB while bump drafting someone? Being on the receiving end works fine but not giving in my experience. Which is a shame given how essential it is here.

I didn't know there was still such a thing as a CRB! 😂

What is the wait time like for Race B this week? It’s so short, are they running every 15 minutes?
I played all last night and it was within 10 mins for me. This is a good track to get your DR up because I don't think many people are putting in good qualifying times, or practicing it at all. Pretty easy to be top 5 in this one. You're gonna want a good qualifying time too because the bottom half is basically bumper cars. This is yet another track where there basically aren't contact penalties. Can't imagine why so few people are playing online when it's completely ok to push people around and have zero penalty for it heh.

I managed a P3 last night, I think with a more practice I could easily start pole and get a P1. We'll see. I need more practice at this track. I don't think I agree that this track is boring. It's long, but that provides its own challenges. That one chicane after the bridge is wicked hard to get right. Also, make sure you pick a 4WD car heh. You would assume a 2WD would do well on this course with such long straights and a few long wide corners, but alas no. The GTR is an absolute beast on this track and very forgiving if you screw up.
