Is there any other strategy in Race A than forming bump draft trains and saving your NOS until the end of the race?
Nope lol, Done 2 races, a 2nd and a 1st, No fun to be had there, Good for building race starts for Platinum trophy.

I was also going to ask about strategy as I can't seem to get a win. It feels like I'm 90% there but just can't get it together at the end.

I REALLY struggled with Mt.Panorama in the past, VR has completely changed my experience of it.

Having a blast using the 458 on it today. My quali time is still pretty grim (1:14.8xx) but I think I can prob get it into the low 1:13 level at least this week.

Inside line and going up to the front to early.

You gain or hold speed coming down the banking and it requires less steering inputs and reduces the drag.

Being first in a slipstream race at the beginning let's the people behind you pick their lines using you to drag them along.

Edit:

The shortest distance travelled isn't always the fastest.

Used the Mercedes for Race A and i don't get how it's the most popular. The car loses steam easily (guess it's because of the aero). Been having a lot of fun using the Bugatti which in my opinion is the most apt car for the race(it's built for speed after all).
My trick is to stay between the pack on the final turn and use the remaining half tank of nitrous+ slipstream. Using the inside line in the end and sticking close to the pit lane has worked well for me though it is quite risky(Seen quite a lot of players crash into the pit wall while trying to take the same line)

Are you noticeably quicker using VR? I’d think so as visibility is so much better.

Can you report a player for dirty driving? If so, is it worth doing it?

Had several encounters with a particularly toxic driver at Spa last night, and again today at the ‘Ring. Deliberately brake checked me, then pushed me into the wall, then dive bombed me at T1.

Fwiw, driver is SR B and I’m S. Why are we in the same lobby?

Interesting Race A. Does anyone know what the car specs are (an R92CP engine swap into GTR was mentioned). I can't open the settings window to see. But the Amemiya RX7 has a supercharger which isn't usually possible in game. Engine swap or signs of further custom parts to come?

I tried some race A for a few, the R34 can definitely hang. No victories, but podium wins for sure. After a few races though, I can see people dropping off quick, it already seemed to lose its novelty fast.

I feel the same its gone from a track I avoided to one I find interesting and exciting when I risk going very close to the barriers.
So I dont have much experience of it until today using my slow car. I just tried the 458 to set a qualification. I was happy with a clean run. Then my next lap my ghost was way behind then same again next lap too. Lots of time there even when feeling like not made mistakes. My 3rd lap was mid 13s. Even found it ok switching driving sides between cars.
I wonder if there is an advantage being a certain side to judge wall gaps.

Edit: Thats funny just gone back to my usual car and its the same drivers side! Its just more central than the 458.

OK guys, I need your help/advice. I've always done Race B's (and a few A's), but I've always avoided C's because my ADD makes it hard to concentrate that long. But I've decided to give this week's C a try, because I love the C course, I hate the B course and I haven't had a decent week of racing for over a month.

So this means I've never done an online fuel-saver race, and I've never done one that requires pit stops.

I know you guys have been discussing this off and on for quite a while, but I've just been ignoring those posts. But now I need any help you guys can give me, with respect to what I should expect during this kind of race. Thanks!

Hi Grumpy, I'm a C level DR driver curently with a high B rating (imposter syndrome aplenty lol). It wouldnt let me quote you for some reason. If you drive the Ferrari you dont need to pit, and can fuel save by just short shifting for a lap or so, just keep your eye on the fuel and you will be fine. Thats what I have been doing and havent embarrased myself yet. Havent tried any other cars though. Just put hard tires on and your good to go, dont worry about the mediums.

Im sure the pros here will give more input, but @Tidgney's guide is obviously really helpful.

Its a decent race, I have avoided the last 2 weeks but had alot of fun today.

Be careful of the rolling start if you are not near the front. Its not nice.

yeah, like said, RH mandatory and they easily last all race, so no pit. (Qualify on meds - don't forget to change to hards!!!) To fuel save, just shift a bit early in the rev bar. The silvia doesn't need too much saving and some cars like the lancer don't need any saving (but they might be slower).

When I get onto the straight after turn 1, I check the fuel usage and make sure I have the laps left in the tank. After a few lap of saving, I may not need to do anymore. Tidgney suggest short-shifting on the uphill, especially in traffic when you can't overtake and then revving full on the straights. Good luck!

Edit: some clarification.

I haven't done any, but they're pretty straight forward... and since PD isn't particularly creative, the same as many others.

META cars are the Silvia and Ferrari. The Ferrari seems to be better on fuel so maybe start with that. The two easiest options are run a higher fuel map when you don't really need the power (like parts of the infield), or short shift; a combination of both has double the effect. The race is eight laps, so 12.5%/lap is what you'll need. Just monitor it as the race goes on and adjust the aforementioned accordingly.

There is no pit required; quali on RMs and change to RH before the race. Since you have to run RH, the pit loss delta is greater than that of the time gained running even seven of the eight laps on RMs.

I totally understand imposter syndrome. Both IRL and while gaming. My best advice about that? It's all BS. You're doing what you're doing, so take pride in it. There's two kinds of people out there: Those who feel like imposters, and those who think too highly of themselves. I suppose there's a middle ground, but I haven't found it yet! Just have fun!!

Thanks for the further explanation. It makes total sense now that you mention it, but I didn't really get the why of it until I read your comment.

I decided to give Race A a try today at least. I set a qualifying time just to start up front and avoid the mess that was sure to happen in the back. My first race went well as I didn't get destroyed and I timed my final turn push perfectly with the full nitrous boost to win. Race 2 was more of the same with not getting wrecked, and I just lost at the line by .050 seconds. I won race 3 with the same strategy as the the other races. I did bump P2 up the track in the final turn as the nitrous kicked in. I did apologize afterwards. Race 4 has me lose the draft train and I fell to P10. But, using the same final turn boost I got to P3 at the line. So, 4 races with 2 wins is fine by me. I do wish that others could understand that by staying in line we can really get some speed, but it is what it is.

I would like do some racing at Bathurst this week but my schedule may not allow for it. At the same time I'm not a fan of the fuel saving races so we'll see if I can find some time to practice and set a decent time. I'm way off the pace in the Ferrari in the few laps I ran as I was doing that in waiting for the next Race A to start. I haven't tried the Silvia yet so I'll try one tomorrow and see what happens.

Do you get sick? I’ve used VR twice at the Porsche Experience Center and both times had to stop at 15 minutes as I was nauseous!
I did at first. I don't get motion sickness much but it was really intense at first for me. Took me about two weeks to finally get my VR legs. But now I play every day on any track and no issues. Mount Panorama is a track that really benefits from it I think.

I'm gonna try these later in the week. I am not a fan of Bathurst, the downhill section can be risky/dangerous, and easy to mess up depending on how fast you go. Are any of you on the Discord chat? My schedule has been crazy the past year, I don't have a whole lot of free time like I used to. I still can play maybe 9-10 hours a day. I would like to make some more time to do some lobbies with you guys and maybe some of the top drivers to learn how to fully master each track I have weak points on.

After collecting my pay check from the Olympic time trial, my brother noticed that there was a daily race on Special Stage Route X. I took a look at it and was a little confused as to why it specified 8 different cars. I then realised that all the cars were pre-tuned so I jumped straight in with the Mercedes. I didn't set a time but I still managed to get third after some calamity. I then put down a lap time in the Mazda RX-7 which I thought would help my cause but in the race I let the lead pack get away and binned it coming off the last corner. I then chose the Viper where I was able to improve my time and score second place, missing out on the win by 0.1 seconds. In the next race I chose the Corvette and won. Easy peasy.

Hey, if I find you in a daily race, can we do some lobbies in the future, my schedule is busy this week some. I can never seem to get in the top 1000-2000 in a daily race.

A is good fun. That chaotic rush to the line out the end of the final banking is awesome.
Whole race feels quite goofy, its closer to what GT was before GTS shifted its focus. I like it.

Good car variety in the ones I've done too.

Holy guacamole, it's my second victory in a day! The first one was at Race A on Special Stage Route X, and it was my first attempt at that track. However, when I got to Mount Panorama, I struggled to maintain consistency and hit barriers frequently. To make matters worse, my lobbies were a mix of DR-A and DR-B drivers, many of whom started without a qualifying time. This made the race even more stressful, with drivers constantly tailing me. On top of that, I was having trouble conserving fuel since I usually race with automatic gearing.

I made the decision to switch to manual. However, this only added to my stress as I struggled to shift gears while navigating the tricky downhill turns. I kept hitting barriers and receiving penalties for my mistakes.

Thankfully, things took a turn for the better when I finally joined an all DR-B lobby and started in fifth place instead of the bottom five. To my surprise, I managed to stay calm and focused while shifting gears and navigating the turns. During the race, a Silvia driver relentlessly chased me and even overtook me at the end of lap 7. Strangely enough, this actually took some of the pressure off, and I was able to regain my momentum and chase him down. Although he crossed the finish line first, he got 1 minute penalty, meaning I ultimately won the race. While I felt sorry for him, I couldn't help but feel thrilled with my own victory!

Honestly, I've felt the same way about that race. It feels like a call-back to the classic Route X top speed lobbies of GT5 and GT6 fame. Almost makes me wish PD would do something like it more often. Bring on the pre-tuned daily races, I say...
