I'm enjoying race B in the Ferrari. I managed to get back to my A/S rating after last week's B momentarily knocked me down to C/D. The track is a little to to tight for hard tires but there are still a few places to overtake.

It's really a game of consistency on this race. Small mistakes carry big punishments.

I ran two race A's first one was fun with bump drafting until the final shootout. The second one was a demolition derby and it was a game of last man standing. And if you are just going to race one lap please shorten the queue time to the next race.

Yeah, the wait between races is ruining the fun for me. I only had time to do Race A twice and finished P4 and P3. Each of my races has been as clean as you can get trying to drive in a line with bump drafting. I probably had enough momentum to win my second race, but I mistimed my run to the finish line and almost got in the back of the winner and had to do some evasive maneuvering. Having fun with Race A so far and I hope to get some more wins in the coming days.

Careful on the bump drafting too much or a little too hard and it will ruin your clean race bonus

I love Race A because it's such a different style of racing compared to what I normally do. I didn't win any races last night but it was still a load of fun. Some may say that this kind of high-speed "oval" racing requires luck more than skill, but that isn't exactly true. You have to make the right moves at the right time or you won't be able to win. I didn't always make the right moves and got screwed over as a result. Being in the middle of the pack is dangerous but if you're too far out front or drop too far back, you will lose. The racing is really intense because of the high speeds and the games that the other competitors play in order to win.

I love races like that. It makes people a bit more chilled. The flat out stuff is cool and all but the more chilled this game can be online the better. Haven't had a chance to do race C yet this week but might try and fit it in. Any idea how the tyre wear is for pad players in this one?
Tyre wear is fine even if you decide to run mediums and switch because either you forgot or want ***** and giggles it's a non factor.

Ran a few A's last night and couldn't grab the first place, lots of 2nd's and 3rd's though, it feels like pure luck at the end or I'm missing something.

Wow, that's interesting! I've been avoiding race B because it looked like something that would make my B/C even worse. But you're saying you were able to get back to A/S while running this race? Or did you improve it on other races?

Gutted that I’m traveling for work this week (and the next two after). Love Bathurst and looking forward to running some races over the weekend, but will be playing catch up to the others.

I haven't managed a win either, just one second place so far. The same person kept winning the races I entered today though, so there's obviously something we're both missing....
I think there's a lot of skill in winning the race, you need to get into a position where you're approaching the final turn near the front of the pack whilst using no or minimal boost to get there. You need to know when to hit the boost for the final sprint, you need to catch the best slipstream you can on the final sprint to the line.

I'm loving Race A. Almost won first time, and had plenty of Nitro left but it lasts longer than I realised. Not been so close since but it's fun racing at high speeds and playing a sort of drafting chess and choosing when and how much to use nitro.
So far working through the cars.
So far I mostly see AMG's, Lambos (bit slidey!) and the Chiron being used, not seen a Supra or Skyline yet, but there was an RX7 in the last race!

I got back to a B/B on spa last week but I was able to finish it off to A/S on nurburgring this week.

As long as I don't make contact I feel like others try to avoid contact but one slight bump and some people go ballistic.

Up until yesterday, i was on top of my friend list leaderboard in Race B qualy times but it feels like getting an ice cream cone without the ice cream!

I'm sure I was first not because I was the best but because nobody really is interested so not putting the effort... This exact circuit but in Gr4 cars is what initially cost me my A/S rating. 4 races and I went down to B/B just from getting massacred!

Tried one race on 2nd account and confirmed nothing changed! From P3 to last within half a lap due to 2 very clear, intentional punts with no consequences for the scummy drivers...

Not a fan of Bathurst or the big, boring oval so I don't think will be playing GT7 at all for the rest of the week. I tried uploading the lap to YouTube but it didn't go through as the PS5 probably also thought "not even worth the effort" 🤣

Good luck folks, see you Monday 😁

I agree. I’m trying to recover my DR back to a respectable B/S. Almost got there at Spa last week, but have lost lots of DR at the ‘Ring this week. So much dirty driving. Despite setting a top 5 qualifying time in B/C lobbies, I’ve finished last a lot! And today I got hit twice and got a 5 second penalty and a 4 second penalty. So my SR is at risk too.

And why am I constantly in lobbies where 90% of the drivers are SR A or below?

This!

Getting a little tired or racers from a DR level above the majority of the field but with poor SR being included in “our” race. Last race C I did had four B/C rated drivers appearing in the field of twelve C/S drivers. Hardly a shock that these interlopers took the top spots.

It seems like poor SR B rated drivers getting rewarded at the expense of DR loss to the C rated (good SR) drivers.

Maybe the tactic is to lose SR then you can drop into lower rated races to improve your DR? /sarcasm mode off.

I've seen someone use a Supra now so that made me happy, but they are rare in the wild!

I have been working through the cars in reverse PP order.
Here are my unscientific findings (I did this watching TV in between races - only 3x5min races per hour, and USA TV format is 45 min content per hour to accomodate 15 min adverts so it fits well)

Chiron - Smooth and stable, probably the best for this race along with the AMG. I went back and did this again to check, and yeah, this has the gearing to go through the 270mph range comfortably.
Huayra - Very nice but slightly less stable round the corners than the Chiron/AMG
Aventador LP 780-4 - I had a massive spin in this slidey boy. Sounds nice and revvy though. But no, choose something else.
AMG GT Black - Up there with the Chiron and looks like the META, it's very nice. It's also going to look very familiar by the weekend so you may want to try something different. If so, keep reading!
GTR Nismo 17 - Very stable but seems a little slow. It's a brick. Dependable but completely average.
Corvette ZR1 - Accelerates well at the start and just like its performance in the race it's downhill from there. Tiny bit of instability in the corners, not as bad as the Aventador but at least in the Lambo you stand a chance, the top speed just isn't there in the Chevy!
Viper GTS 13 - Same as the Corvette, you can't compete even when burning NoS! Although it's not unstable in corners, it does want to slide the back end out a bit to counter balance and lose you speed while doing so.
RX 7 - This little Rotary rev monster accelerates like a bat out of hell, took me from the back to the front on the first straight. Has a similar top speed to the previous US muscle despite only having 5 gears but has a better chance due to it's poke, being able to gain an early advantage and better take advantage of the slip stream seemed to give the RX7 some staying power or maybe it was just my luck in the slipstream. The danger is if you make too many small steering adjustments it quickly starts to pendulum and scrub way too much speed off. Probably the best of the old skool contenders. I see these way more than the Skyline or Supra.
R34 Skyline - The first thing you'll notice is the clunky gear change which alone makes this a bad choice as you lose so much speed relative to anyone else with each shift before even considering it is outclassed a bit in every other area too. Choose only if you are living the Fast and Furious dream and want every gear shift to feel like an epic event, a mechanical punch that gets you closer to God. But it won't get you closer to a win.
Supra RZ 97 - Not bad, but seems to struggle to hit the really high speeds.

I have been working through the cars in reverse PP order.
I would like to add two things from my experience:
  1. The Chiron accelerates better than the AMG. At start, if the Chiron is in the top 5, the extra acceleration doesn't really help, but if it is outside the top 5, it easily joins the leading slipstream pack.
  2. The Chiron is the heaviest. In the unfortunate case of side-contacts, the AMG spins out easily, but I have yet to experience a spin in a Chiron. Honestly, I am not sure why the AMG is considered the meta and not the Chiron.

I did Daily Race A 3 times in the Corvette yesterday and had 3 very different results.

In the first race, I completely stuffed an opportunity to win by not thinking clearly and second guessing myself. Just before the last corner began, I was sitting on the inside line about 3 cars back from the leader and thinking about a move to the right. I put my thumb onto the square button to activate the nitrous and moved out of the line, but shortly after I did that I immediately moved back into the line. As the corner began, I was soo focused on the cars in front that I ended up turning into the corner too late. As a result, I moved too far up the track and lost control of the car, whacking the wall head on and flying into the air as other cars hit me. Oops.

Second race started smoothly enough but the whole thing was over too soon. I was on the outside heading into the first corner and two cars were on my inside sticking to their line. However one of the Mercedes' was pushed out front by a Chiron, who then whacked an R34 GT-R as he tried to split the gap. The Chiron got the GT-R loose and as the GT-R bumped the Chiron, the driver lost control, flew up the track and collected me on the outside. Fail.

Race 3 wasn't as disastrous. Coming into the last corner, I think I was 5th and still had most of my nitrous left so I knew I was in for a shot to win. As the corner began, the 4 cars in front of me scattered which left me in a bit of a strange position. I didn't know who to go with so I just activate the nitrous to gain some time in the middle lane. The car was struggling to stay straight but I kept going and tagged on to a Nismo GT-R. I stuck behind him and with a few hundred metres to go, I made my move to the inside and almost got run into the pit wall. I kept my thumb on the square button and shoved the Nismo GT-R into the wall on the left to win the race by 0.028 seconds. I don't think I've ever won by such a small amount.

My 1:27:8 lap decided to upload itself so here it is.

Only change since Monday has been a visit from an alien called @Nebuc72 who casually dropped in and took away my 1st place position on the friend leaderboard by a country mile as always 🤣👽

Any success stories from Race B? I'm really not tempted lol

Race A has been largely civil so far, though it seems people are following each other like sheep by picking the AMG above the rest .

From experience, both the R34 and R35 have been competitive enough for me to take it to them. Likewise, I've seen others doing well with the Aventador and Chiron, and the odd 'vette making a competitive appearance. Only cars I've ran that struggled, were the RX-7 and Supra. Even with NOS in draft, both couldn't quite stay with the pack.

Otherwise it's just about working together, and trying not to slip to the back of the train. As that leaves you in danger. And importantly, saving that NOS for the drag to the line. Enjoyed it so far, which is good, as I've felt no interest in bothering with B or C this week.

I’m completely opposite. I’m an A/S rating and I constantly am in A/A+ S lobbies but they drive dirtier than my underwear after a 12h shift at work. the B/S drivers are way better racers as far as sportsmanship goes. At least in my region here in the US.

I've been bouncing all around low 28's but can't get past the 27 barrier. Going to try again tonight. Usually the 911 is preferred ride but I've been enjoying the 458. I mostly blame it on the chicane but I've tried it every which way.

That lap time should put you in the top 5 if not pole. Nice job. Most of the people in my A lobbies run a mid 1:28 race pace with the top 1 or 2 hitting 1:27s. I think you have a good shot at some wins. Just get out there and let it rip.

Maybe the heat has been reduced as the week goes on.
On Monday my 1:27:89 only started me in p9 and then p6 in A/S lobbies.

I haven’t done any more figuring I’d be getting p10 + for the start grid.

Too many other options besides B race as the week moves on including getting ready for Toyota and Nations over the weekend.

Have fun with B race! I’m sure I’ll give it another go before the end of this week 🙄

Rarely seen a Race A get so m

Nice lap! The few races I’ve done (B/C lobbies on PS4 in the Americas) have been carnage, real DR killers! Possibly because I keep getting put in lobbies with lots of non-S drivers!

Full disclosure I'm a very low A.
