Can someone PLEASE explain to me how to deal with aggressive overtake attempts up the mountain? Some people just don't seem to understand where you're meant to pass at Bathurst and either you get shoved into the dirt or taken by multiple cars if you yield even one little bit.

Last time we were here I made those types of passes mutually assured destruction. If you're gonna shove me out of the way up the mountain we're both hitting the wall. Didn't do anything to dissuade them but it felt good regardless.

Basically I figured if I'm already gonna get a time penalty for hitting the wall I'm taking "you" with me. The clean races were either lucked into a clean lobby or I was up front and could run away or I was in the back and it didn't matter.

I feel your pain. With that said, I watched a race by @Tidgney the other day where people managed to survive going side-bi-side up the hill, with no crashes. So maybe the people you're encountering just think they're better than they are. Not much help, I know.

Track position. If you put yourself in smart areas, the aggressive overtakers will wipe themselves out. E.g. inside “not too tight” line into the cutting leaves them nowhere to go but into the exit wall. Etc…

@D_Dragline @hollowkatt @GrumpyOldMan
All good tips. I'm asking mainly because it's the mountain section of Race C which is holding me back from having a nearly-perfect combo this week, I've really found some pace in the Ferrari (meta without question) and the racing has mostly been clean and fun. Sometimes things get testy away from your location and somehow I always get dragged into it. People seem less inclined to return the place when your lost positions are merely collateral damage in the destruction.

Just two more for Race A for me as the novelty has worn off. I didn't get anything on yesterday as went to an annual baseball outing with my friends. It was fun! I was in a lobby with @Talon for my first race. Someone took me out for some reason. We were not close to the front so who knows why that happened. I finish P7 not that it matters. Race 2 had me in P5 and the lobby could not keep a draft line organized so it was a mess. Still neat to drive real fast in a tight pack.

"maybe the tactic is to lose SR then you can drop into lower rated races to improve your DR? /sarcasm mode off."

as a high CS/low BS driver i get punted down to CS,have a few good races and back up to BS,usually at the back of the pack and out of my depth. It seems logical to "tank" my DR down to C where i can at least be competitive-i don`t care about DR but SR matters to me,i`m not obsessed with winning, happy to race midpack but the matchmaking system seems to be at odds with my ability............

Every single race I have run has been really fun. And everything bad has been my own doing. Nothing dirty at all so far.
Have been running the 458 and the Huracan
I discovered the 458 on this track when it first came out, and I was very happy about it at the point where I was thinking to use it as a first choice, but then I went cold on it, preferring other cars.
The fact that you are choosing the 458 for race B is ringing a bell in my head.

What do you think about it overall?

The 458 is good. Just make sure you have the car pointed before you accelerate and it's a little less forgiving on the kerbs.

The 458 has a hard breaking point when it losses traction and I get a good feeling on it with a wheel. The Porsche never "breaks" and I get this constant understeer that I can't pull out of. It's really prominent on slow speed corners.

I like it. It's not my absolute favourite MR but it's good on almost every kind of track.

My SR is by far more important to me than my DR. As soon as there's people with lower SR in the race the racing usually deteriorate .

I am 59, I race for fun, I might be a little aggressive sometimes but never dirty unless I make a mistake , and before anyone goes to look me up on KudosPrime I have never, ever in my well over 1000 races been above DR B.
It's a combination of things, one is that I don't cherry pick what races I do, two I never ever put my DR ahead of my SR, and three, I am not that good.
But should I not be allowed to speak up because of a lower DR?
That's just rubbish. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my race craft, it's raw pace I lack. What I do have and can contribute with is tips and lessons to become better, even better than me. Because in theory I could be A+ :)

I just discovered a little something daily race a is a great diagnostic to find out which of your controllers has a drift problem I run on a PS4 and I've got three controllers two of them are on constant charge and I rotate and I found out one of my controllers has a drift problem during this race I found this out I think that was a great idea

Not really a good idea at all, you’ll end up steering into and pushing other drivers off, albeit accidentally it won’t look like it. Test that offline instead.

Spotted this during the qual times, not in actual race...

I'm not that much of a doofus....

So worked my way from 11th to 4th. Cross, the line, take off the VR headset then all of a sudden I have a 1 minute penalty??? Haha, did I miss something, I thought you can do race C without stopping on hards??

This is a good take. I remember after first getting to B DR, racing became tougher and I had lots to learn. One thing was knowing when to back off and when to attack. Even though you have the right to defend your position many times, sometimes it is better to back off and fight another day so to speak. Let the idiots around you destroy themself if they can't race cleanly, don't try to beat them at the same dirty game they're playing 😄 Usually doesn't work.
Agreed. If you try and retaliate, you'll probably ended up screwing yourself in the process. I work on the basis of being as fair as possible and looking out for and avoiding the lunatics out there that think they can win a race in the first lap. I find it better sometimes to stay behind and watch the carnage unfold in the first lap or two as people end up in walls, barriers and gravel - easiest way to gain places! Try to seriously put the guy in front under pressure and take the opportunities, if they arise... cleanly. And if they don't, the person in front might just be forced into an error of their own making.

It's really tricky when you are at the front part of the grid as you have to keep up with guy in front so push from the get go just to survive and pull away.

Today, and I'm sure it's time of day I started racing has been full of racers that really shouldn't be in S lobbies, we all out brake ourselves or catch the grass or drift wide but constantly doing it lap after lap corner after corner....I dunno.

You can tell those with race craft and those without. Those without would rather compromise everyone's lines to nab a place rather than take the alternate line and plan a corner or two ahead.

There is a story about a young bull and an old bull they come over the top of a hill and see a field full of cows.

The young bull says, if we are quick we could run down this hill and procreate with a couple of those cows.

The old bull chuckles, looks at him and says son. If we take our time we can f... then all.

Dumb question but I need to ask: yesterday I tried to enter one of the daily races for the 1st time, but I couldn't because apparently I have to pay for the PS+ subscription.

That means there are no daily races for me unless I pay for them?

Yes. All online multiplayer in all PlayStation games (except free-to-play titles) requires a PlayStation Plus subscription. This is what PS Plus is actually for.

You only need one active account on a console though, as the others can all share it.

Here we go with next weeks races

Again with the hards in Daily B. Race C might be interesting on RM and RS with some tyre wear

Don't like Road Atlanta, don't like RBR in GT racers, ouch.. time to catch up on some other games then. Shame as I'm off work next week too.
