Random question, are hybrid cars allowed in single player gt races?
There are single player races?!?!?

It's been over 3 weeks since my last win. And I continue my streak of only getting wins when I start out pole. But I can live with that. 😂

There are hybrids, and you can use them in some single-player races. And every once in a while you can use them in online races too. But if hybrids are something you really want, this isn't the game for you. And I have to wonder why you care, but that's your prerogative.

I've mostly been doing Race C this week, and it's greatly improved my times around Bathurst - I even won a race (first ever there I think)

So for a change today, I did a Race B.. I was one of two B/S drivers among a heap of A and A+ rated drivers. Hoped to have a clean race and pick off a couple of places and maybe get myself back to A/S.

That was until I forgot it was the sprint race layout, and ploughed full speed in to everyone else as they braked for T5 :ouch: I almost quit with the shame.

I don’t “care” about hybrids, I’m just asking a question. There are some pretty cool looking hybrids but I’m not going to drop 3 million on them if I can’t use them in races so that’s why I’m asking

It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it. I had the lead until the end of lap 4, when I spent too much time examining my mirror and drove of the track (no crash, but it turns out that grass is a lot slower than asphalt - who knew?). But the guy who passed me did the last 2 laps almost 3 seconds faster than I did, so I'm thinking it was inevitable anyway.

I can vouch that Race B is, in fact, dishing out penalties. I got a total of 5.5 seconds on a race earlier. And some of that was for me hitting someone from behind and binning them. (I'm not proud of it, but it's true.) So I'm thinking that if you hit someone from more of the side, the game's more lenient. Can't say for sure, though.
Nice result I’ve had a few top 5s despite the carnage. P2 my best.

I got a 5 second penalty after another car hit me at T1, but no penalties for the two clowns who took me out at the last Chicane. Typical PD!

Well I don’t “care” about hybrids, I’m just asking a question. There are some pretty cool looking ones but I’m not going to drop 3 million on them if I can’t use them in races, so that’s why I was asking

After achieving the 'A+' a while back thankfully (simply to scratch that itch), I just lost complete interest in the sterile online battles. I know PD try to spice it up a bit with the random fuel depletion and tyre wear on any given track but seeing (for the most part) the same odd group of cars usually dominating the boards it just takes the fun and curiosity out of it for me completely along with a few other annoying (to me) omissions.

I'm a huge GT3 fan so seeing the same lot of GR Supra Concepts, GTRs, and/or 991s (which I personally love) dominate the leaderboards gets boring; substitute a few odd randos every now and again (like the Renault, M3, Beetle) but that's the jist. I mean when is the last time you consistently saw the 458, R8, or Aston at the top of the boards? -- never and those are fantastic racing marques. Add to that no rain whatsoever (not even thick clouds for that matter), no dawn or twilight racing, no day/night changes, or endurance battles whilst being forced onto hards and mediums is dreadfully vanilla and tedious imho. I want to be thoroughly challenged against the field, so why not kill the counter steering and ASM aids? It won't happen.

So, so what you might say? So I stick to creating rooms in the lobbies which try to take advantage and add in (or delete) all of the "missing" elements mentioned above and some of those races are downright epic. Sadly, subject to no gain or loss of DR/SR; something I wish PD would take a look at and consider adding. The fun factor would be off the charts if so for that but perhaps they do not want to take away from their sanctioned no frills/no thrills dailies. A bit ironic. Welp that's my two cents.

/rant.

Jokes aside you are probably better off phrasing a question about this in the main GT7 forum, as it'll get seen by players who are committed to and know the single player part of the game inside out.

While I'm sure some do knock around here, this thread is mainly populated by the Sport mode online races community, I have no idea what single player races you can or can't use hybrids in, I suspect most others here aren't too much wiser

Well I haven’t bought it yet, that’s why I’m asking if I can use it once I buy it, otherwise I’ll get something else
You can just look in the rental car section for each race, anything in there will be allowed in the race.

For offline, if it meets the requirements of the race, it should be fine. Or you can make a custom race with any cars you like.

Oh man, did I misunderstand your question! When you talked about buying, you meant whether you should buy the car in the game or not - I thought you meant buying the game itself! Now I just feel stupid. :dopey:

So, changing my response: If you're going to do some of the money grinds, then IIRC there are some good hybrids for that. Check out some YouTube videos for money credit grinding techniques to see if any of them recommend a hybrid.

Yaris race a bit scrappy but not too bad, 7th place in all B / S lobby. Kinda wish I had another go at it as I was getting comfortable in the car towards the end after struggling in the qualy, oh well.

Couple of genuine thanks for the clean race messages at the end is always a nice feeling, good little mid-pack battle going on as it ended.

Okay, made my peace with race B, rating D/S sätet p2 finished p1 with a clean race 🙃 sports mode is just too seducing and addictive even when it’s toxic 😩😂 dove the Aston Martin vantage btw 🥴 felt pretty nice to my usual cars (bmw and nsx)🤷🏻‍♂️

😂 maybe sometime one sees me on track, it’s a car in Ferrari colours (white, red or some pretty dark purple red 🥴) with my name (Andy) written…. Pretty clean design 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m looking forward to next weeks Daily C. Still not finding that urge to play but after doing some practice races tonight online I’m looking forward to this. Always like racing at RBR.

So my pick of car will be Genesis X. Going to pick Genesis as my manufacture I think so going to be using this to practice and learn the car.
My fastest lap is a late 1.28. Average race pace on medium mid 1.30 and high 1.29 on Softs. Strategy. I’m looking at 5/6 laps on medium and 8/7 on soft. Looks like they will be a few cars to pick too, GTR probably the better car. Going to be fun.

If I’m getting decent results do I grind and push for the DR A? I want to race the GT1 races in manufacturers for the distance but the limited 3 slots is a bit rubbish, compared to GT2 flexibility. See how I feel toward the end of the week I guess.

I'm close to A and was thinking the same thing! Also like that Gen X, ran it a spa yesterday.

Dailies seem ok this week, and since I have struggled with my pace using the relatively new physics, particularly in gr3, I shall use Daily C as a training ground to tinker with my wheel settings, to see if some settings changes can give me more pace. Probably going to use the Vantage V12 GT3 since it is a balanced car to drive and RB Ring is simple enough, so the test results will be easy to replicate and compare against themselves 🤓 Plus it seems like it is FR cars in particular that give me a headache.

How is the race at RBR? I quite like the track but never raced online there. Any tips and what about pitting? I would just start on the sifter compound until they wear out and then change.

I'd have a more solid answer if I didn't encounter the only SR B driver in the lobby.

However the softs can last 9-10 laps on the right car. 8/5 or 5/8 to play it safe.

They really should modify track limits on Maggiore East End. 80% of the race is determined by how much you are willing to abuse track limits (both inside and outside) entering the long straight. It already was a problem during the Citroën DS race months ago.

The "turn four" track limits at Maggiore have been like that since GT Sport launched.
