I honestly can't believe how good the racing was at Bathurst last week...

I had one last session (1am-3am lobbies yesterday) and in spite of a slightly mixed DR crowd, the quality of race-craft and general pace was outstanding. Loads of side by side driving, honest battling for position in the correct places. Just the right amount of aggression (people safely reining in the overtake attempts but still providing competition and tension at the key points of the circuit), and only the occasional egregious contact (once in 4 races to be precise).

Drama from start to finish, whether we were fighting for a podium or trying to save a Top 10 position.

Kudos everyone.

I don’t know if it really is the meta. In 2 races I’ve done the top cars have been Porsche, Ferrari, Nissan, Lexus, Toyota and Genesis.
What's your DR?

One example from Rory's stream just now of a start, eight of the top 12 are in the GTR, including all of the top five.

And from a previous race, 10 of the shown 12 are the GTR including the top six. It's the META.

GT-R has pretty much always been kinda meta at RB Ring, even in GTS. That turbo kicking on accelerations after the hairpins is the reason for that. For the same reason the old Subie gr3 car was good on RB Ring too at least back in GTS days.

if you ever wondered what it would be like to play Twisted Metal in a Daihatsu Copen '02, Race A is your chance!

maybe itll get better as the week progresses... but the car is very easy to control, so i have to imagine a lot of the swerve-blocking and ramming was intentional.

Same. Wish I could've raced it more as I only got 3 races in last week but everyone did incredibly well. Didn't have anyone send it on the mountain and most knew to be wary of braking during the descent. Lots of bump drafting strategies and side by sides as well. Just a good race overall. Two more laps and a tire swap would've made it perfect I felt.

60kish. Just done another race with Nissan, Porsche and Genesis on the podium.

The Asia top splits are absolute bloodbaths. Just non-stop diving and shoving. It’s genuinely horrible. I think I might be done with RBR already. And that’s starting in the top 3 or 4 every race. It must be worse down in the midfield.

This weeks race guide is up and I caused an accident :(

Is J.Needham(MarioSonic) racing with controller and using the buttons for steering instead of the stick? His moves when you chose his camera angle looked like it. That would be super impressive at his level, right?

Pretty sure MarioSonic uses a wheel although I could be wrong, I'm pretty sure he's in the forum. But yes if anyone is using the buttons instead of the stick on controller at A+ level that would be super impressive.

Well apparently I'm a dirty driver - I'm in the NSX, got a bit out of control at the start of lap 2, then had a car on the inside and T1 and another chap bounce off me on the outside. An unfortunate racing incident in my view, but what do you guys think? He was calling it dirty in the chat - first I've ever been called that in 4 years!

I stopped on the last lap and let him by as well.

I agree, unfortunate racing incident. The car on your right was distracting, so I find it very understandable you did not spot the other car on the left.

Just watched a guy at RBR do a last to first challenge in a B lobby, get to 2nd, punt off 1st like blatantly, loses anyway as he got a 4 second penalty for it, then get a 1 minute penalty and finish last.

What a way to spend half an hour.

Tagged for Idiots of the Week (#iotw), should be fun.

Yeah I'd have to add my +1 to others, despite what else was happening you were on a predictable line into the turn, I don't know what he would have expected you to do differently there even if you did see him coming it's not on you to get off the line there.

Frankly, if anything he's coming in too hot given the situation ahead of him.

I'm back. After several weeks away from the PS5 during my entertainment area remodel I jumped back on last night. All I can say is that I've forgotten how to drive! LOL.

I managed to get a couple route-X races in. First one, I got wiped out on the first corner but boosted my way back, but went too early on the last corner to run out of nitro but still finished 5th! Second race I tried to keep the nitro to later but I still did not time it right and while I had boost all the way to the end, so did everyone else and I ended 7th. For a stupid circuit, that was actually pretty fun...

Took a look a B, based on my terrible QT attempt I passed on that one...

Jumped to C. Took the 458 out but with my new driving set up I felt better in the cockpit for this one rather than bumper cam. I knew I was off the pace but with just a few hours to go before the new week I jumped into a race. Started on mediums and pitted to hards on lap 6. I needed to refuel but I guess most of the others did not and did the entire race on hards. I finished last in 12th, not helped by being knocked off course in the first lap by another crashing driver. I had a few mishaps as well...

So in the end, I was slow, my driving is terrible, but being in cockpit and on a course was fun! I see VR in my future now... Perhaps... (VR will probably do my head in).

I don't see my DR B lasting. I'l probably be back to DR C at the end of the week with my current performance. Who knows, perhaps I'll remember how to drive again?

Got an extremely rare victory this morning at RBR! (GenesisX, Qd P2, 8S/7M, CRB). Had a 17sec lead when I pitted and came out in P1 with 10sec to spare; with such a gap there is no need for anxiety, just run clean!

I usually qualify pretty well for monday mornings but I peak early in the week and start dropping down the grid as everyone around me gets faster and faster. So I try and pick up some good results early before everyone gets locked in, but today was something else.

The lobby was all Bs save one A. I work from home some days and have the luxury to regularly run a race or two in the (my) morning. These morning lobbies have forever been mixed B/A/A+ but lately I've been seeing more all-B lobbies at this time. Not sure what that says, maybe the A+s are running another race, or maybe there are more participating at this time of day? My Dr is pretty stable at the B/A cutoff so... Dunno.

Just a sliver off A (again). I think I'd like to try GT1 on the manu (more slots in GT2 vs. longer races in GT1). But I don't want to treat DR as something precious. I'll just keep racing and let the chips fall.

1½ out 3 good races today so far on Daily C
Using the Genesis X and I think it’s a great car round RBR.

Race 1 made me own mistake lap 1. Didn’t make any contact heading into T4, but as I had the tighter line into the right, I just got on the power too early. Fell to the back but managed to get a P10

Race 2 had a run into T1 at the start but the GTR ahead was determined to stay ahead that they just went bowling and ploughed through the pack. As they rejoined they hit another car which then hit me, and back down in last again. Again another P10

Race 3 great race. Started in P7 and went for mediums, lost a couple to the soft runners but I was keeping pace with the lead group. Pit end of lap 5, and on my 2nd lap nearly binned it at T1 trying to push to get ahead of the car that was slowing me down. Managed to get past them in then end of lap 8, and then it was a case of hunting down P3 and P4. Managed to pass P4 on lap 12 but P3 was 2 seconds up the road.

Good race this. Strategy seems to all over the place which is nice. Some cars going long on mediums, some short on mediums.

Interesting. My race B back in Jan was a 1.25.2. That was in the WRX. My time now in the Silva is a 1.25.996. The WRX is a 1.26.7 now. That thing has been nerfed to hell since the beginning of the year.
I set my winning times last time round in the WRX but this time it's a close tie for me in the silva or 458. Such very different cars to go round there in.

Although I held my own in B last week in the 4C. It feels like the BoP takes one step forward and one step back each time they mess with it

Love Road Atlanta but my first 3 races this evening have seen my favourites:

1)Track limit penalty for avoiding being obliterated by an uncontrollable re-entry from a speeding lawnmower.

2) Entitled dive bombs from another post code.

3) Dive bombers flashing lights when you refuse to cease existing.

4) 4 (four) second penalty for being unable to avoid a car that was sideways in the middle of the track going downhill(for forcing them off the track, apparently).

In 5 really short laps more carnage than down the mountain in Bathurst all last week.

And yet people still fail to realise that it's not the twisty section its smashing down the straight and hairpin where the actual overtakes will stick.

It's a track where peeps seem to forget overall race time and are hell bent on positions for lap one....they will or won't learn but they won't stick with it that is for sure

Had not much time today but wanted at least get some racing done early when people do not know what they are doing.
Luckily I managed a quite good 1:28.7 in the 10 minutes before the Race C in the Genesis.

Started P3 on Mediums and had Clean Air from the start because P1 and was on softs and I overtook P2 in Lap2.
Therefore I pitted late for Soft to keep clean from the other drivers and finished P1 without having to engage anyone.

Managed a second race right now starting from P1 on Softs and finishing P1 with 0.3s gap to P2 (which started from P13!!!)
No overtakes, but a nice defense battle agains P2 in a GTR over the last 2 Laps.

Great racing on the RedBullRing. Love the Genesis there.

Yup why people insist on trying it down the twisty bit goes against all common sense. If this was race C it might be interesting with the chance to recover from the inevitable carnage and let nature take its course, but 5 laps round here seems way too short.

Don't forget trying 2 wide down hill on the right hander leading to the finish line. Never seen that work once.
