I'm lost. I'm busting my butt to stay in the 1:46 range. What are you doing? I can't turn the car unless I am crawling.
Honestly I would recommend watching Tidges lap guide.

I take a trail braked or lift off for T1 but in 3rd, bus stop just hold fourth but coast it for the lines.

The reason you are crawling is you are trying to do things at once. Brake, turn accelerate and the car can’t do that.

Break it in to phases, braking phase, transition phase, adjustment phase.

It’s not top 10 in the world but slowing the thinking down and coasting for a better acceleration line is worth more than trying to brake harder and later etc
That said, I don't want to be a poor craftsman who blames his tools.
It’s not the tools but the craftsman that has to extract the most from them.

Well, I gained a few tenths and got into the high 1:45's for Race B and high 1:40's for Race C...I still need to find about 1 second. I don't see it happening 🙄

A few more races at Watkins Glen tonight. I did set a new time of 1:47.3XX during my session that didn't make much of a difference in my starts.

Race 1 I'm in P9 to start and have a nice race until the final lap. A driver leans on me entering turn 1, so I lean back. So naturally they retaliated and I fall back to P13 for the finish. Clean race bonus event though I went off track in the bus stop.

Race 2 has me in P11 this time and I have a great race. I manage to avoid all of the wrecks in front of me and find my way to P5. I make a 2 for 1 pass in the bus stop, and one of the drivers I passed punts me. It wasn't intentional from what I saw in the replay, and I just keep going. I chase P4 on the final lap and force a mistake. Then the driver who hit me spun in the "short chute" and I finish P3. Good racing all around.

My last race is more good racing with me in P10 this time. Again, I pick my spots and move up the field. Now, I got rammed by a driver and sent into another driver and sent them off track. I got blamed post race, but there was noting I could do. I finish P5 after all of that.

More good racing tonight with a lot of being in a tighter pack as compared to the past. Not that I'm complaining about that. It makes for some good battles.

Interesting night in race C, starting and finishing around 7th or 8th in DRA rooms. Everyone starts on mediums, just a matter if when to pit and for me it's 6 an6 but that last lap on softs is really bad so 7 and 5 is in play.

Lots of laps chasing or being chased but we are all so tight on pace, the gaps ebb and flow. Makes for an excellent opportunity to see where you are dast and where you are slow vs peers.

I make up a lot of time in the downhill right and through the esses but really struggle withbthat double right hander to end the lap and also the final corner. That last corner feels great but peers are smoking me.

Now, I do want to lodge a complaint because I think PD nerfed the controllers in recent updates. The turning is PAINFULLY slow imho. That's fine if the user has set his sensitivity low, but I'm maxed and the car won't turn. I watch the little red dot slowly catch up to the input I am giving it. I realize it's meant to match what a steering wheel can do, but it's WAY too slow.

That said, I don't want to be a poor craftsman who blames his tools.
I think you are right. Didn't we talk about the ineffectiveness of the in race controller sensibility adjustments.. And a gran turismo friend, just proved, that controller isnt like controller. He was always slower than me, in qualifying and asked for advise or set up (break balance) because i was very good in his friends list. Ah, his name "2tall4F1" great Britain. 2 weeks ago, he wrote, that he got a new controller and a really good "tuned" one. Believe it or not, since then he is 1.5sec faster than me, thats an improvement of 2-2.5 seconds.

And if we think about it, when we take "dirty air" for granted, oil change is much easier to code and doesn't have anything to do with BoP numbers and moreover y i guess the quality of the steering wheel and pedals may be responsible for the moments, when we wonder, why the ghost pulls suddenly away.......
To the races.. Super fun i love Watkins Glenn and the big cars(gtr,Genesis x, m6), by the way, if someone is looking for an alternative, i had a lot of fun in the the Supra, but the bmw pulls away uphill, 🤔.

Managed to improve my QT a little this morning, 1.45.7xx and I think that’s me done, I’ll settle on that and see what that returns at the weekend races.

Had an almost carbon copy race to the win yesterday, made my way up a couple places and racing this dude, same run up to his right side prior to the chicane but he held it broke later and took the win, but another impressive race.

Edit. @Nebuc72 & @TechnoIsLove nice laps and I’m back to my normal place, enjoyed it whilst it lasted 🤣

Seeing your leaderboard made me wish I had less friends 🤣

It’s all relative but and I say this as friend and banter, I’m top of yours and can’t even stay in the top 10 of my own.

That’s mad mate, you need to ding out everyone faster than you, boost the ego 🤣

I’ve just the right blend of fast, but I have to work very hard to get within a second of you 😁

I’m quite pleased to be with 2 secs of the number one time in the world,

When I started I was pleased to be with 4 secs so there’s progress mate

I’m really enjoying despite not previously liking the track or this combo.

As you say everyone is sooo close so the racing tougher and the moves a little forced but it’s easy go side by side or defend/cutback

There is obviously a few that aren’t up for the racing just the places at all costs or the petulant ones.

I’ve found tonight that @Barney Da Dog has been putting time in unfairly while I was at work 🤣 @TechnoIsLove has gone AWOL at the first tough one or is secretly practicing on his hidden account!

Fun but close race really close race. I’ve decided in VR at least it’s one of the easiest mid length circuits to be consistent on with none of the corners being as technical as they felt in bumper cam now.

@NevilleNobody i sent you a friends request bud?
I actually did spend some time putting laps at the Glen today to take a small break from Shadows 😂 Needed to completely tweak one of the setups on the wheel to make a car drivable but getting used to it. No idea about where I am in the LB though as had to rush out to pick up the wife as I did not hear the phone ringing 😂 She nearly gave me a ringing after.... 😮😂

Just ease back in when you feel comfortable. Wives come and go mate GT is always here for you.

*love you wifey if you are reading this…

I had a good night at the Glen tonight. Four races putting me back close to the top of the DR B.

Race 1 - Pole to
IMG_9302.jpeg

Race 2 - Pole to 2.

Race 3. Mixed A+/A/B lobby starting 7th. I got a bit flustered in the pack and racked 2.5s of penalties over 3 laps but I still managed to finish 8th.

Race 4. Another mixed lobby, starting 6th. That was a good race and ending 5th.

I did find an interesting bug. A couple of times I lost all force feedback braking into the right handed at the bottom of the hill. This is very unnerving as I’ve no feedback on the grip of the wheels which is critical. The feedback comes back at the top of the hill. Apart from that, I like the Lexus at the Glen.

Yesterday I've broken the '45 barrier at Glen (by few millisec) with an ideal of '44.7. Tuesday was a penalties exploring day, intended as getting one at almost every lap; especially forcing turn one and bus stop esses. I'm half way to the target of consistently lapping in the mid '44 for start racing. Feeling more and more confy on the BMW (until I'll start race, then we'll see ).
About "wifey moments"; my preferred one is when I'm in an hot lap, inters are already my best ever at half lap... until a poke on the shoulder and a portable phone is handed to me: "Your mom, she wants to know how much olive oil she need to bring tomorrow."

Managed another tenth on my QT, saw @TheNormsk getting a little close to knocking me further down, this track just keeps giving time. I don’t think I’ve seen that before, I’m usually at the plateau by now, maybe physics

On the (extremely) funny wife stories, mine is well trained and wouldn’t even think of any interruption when I’m racing (he types whilst looking over his shoulder in an empty room) 🤣

Tried some race C action this week, despite the dirty air problems. I'm starting at around P5- P8. Starting on mediums every time.

1st race: P7 start, P6 on track for almost the whole race. Server got disconnected at lap 11. Bummer.
2nd race: P5 start. Got punted sideways in T2 by someone. Had to chase from P13-ish. Later on in the race I overcut the guy during the pitstops, ending up just in front of him at the pit exit. He punts me sideways again in T2 and just drives on. Sigh... P12 finish.
3rd race: P5 start. My starting pace is not great and I fall back to P6/P7. Drove the first half of the race in that positions. Because I gained some consistency I could overtake some people who were sloppy and I finished P4.

That first sector is killing me btw. I lose a lot of time trying to carefully exit T2. The T3/T4 combination is also a big mess up. I turn in from very wide and stay to the left at T3 exit. But the braking / turning combination into T4 is just something I don't grasp. Sometimes I brake too late, but turn too early. Sometimes the other way around trying to compensate earlier mistakes. From sector 2 onwards I am sometimes able to drive quite smoothly and don't lose a lot of time according to the others around me.

After starting pole 8 times starting second I actually bloody win one.

Have to say this is actually a really draining race even though it’s short in VR.

The bus stop is a lot easier in VR but it’s impossible to gauge your speed and I think a lot of people are just chucking it in.

But here we go finally this week and not a flag to flag race I won one in and A/S lobby (side not not one person lost SR ;) )

Just had a weird race, I don't normally race during lunch breaks but with no TT, licences or chase the cheese weekly races I entered one on a whim. I wasn't mentally ready and also decided I could handle TC1 (in races I use TC2). Got absolutely mobbed in the first lap, P6 to last, then spun twice getting used to TC on RM.

Right, then dialed myself in after going back to TC2 and absolutely BELTED around Lake Maggiore, ran high 42's on the RM, even late stint and 40's on the softs. Fastest was a 1.40.5, given my qualy lap is 40.3 that feels pretty solid. I was last by 16 seconds and got back to 10th LOL.

Practice no TC in GR2 mate the downforce is mega and so is the braking, all you need to do is just smooth or time they throttle a bit more.

Also if you are going to use TC which is cool, I’d recommend using just TC1 and moving the BB to the front rather than the popular streamer rotation crap that run it to the back. Don’t, use the brake as a way to dive and grip the front end not let it drag the back around constantly.

I’m sure it makes a difference for the .001% but for the rest of us run it forward, brake and ease off and dab it to get a sharper turn in if you need.

Really? That is interesting re. the BB. Yes I run it at the back so I can rotate but never though of it the way you lay it out. TC1 and 2 are very different, I qualify with TC1 but in race, on RM, I struggle not to turn her around exiting turn 2, 4 and 5. I might practice though as I am unlikely to qualify faster so will have 5 mins between races.
