I think my best result last week was a 6th at Monza - finished most races near last, and the same with B. Both tracks I don't like as far as racing goes.

I'm very pleased to have taken 3 wins at Brands today (in the G70 with a tyre change) and some 2nds to 4ths using the 458 (no tyre change). Nice to meet @MetalApe there too 👋

I'm using half of the backwards setup on the G70 - 40/20 50/30. Definitely a high 1.27 possible there.. and managing mid 1.28s on the 2nd set of tyres

May concentrate on Suzuka tomorrow...
 
Yeah, I'm gonna focus hard at Suzuka too. I have to get the rhythm right at Sectors 1 and 2. Sometimes I'll slip up and lose valuable time. I guess I'll go with the Porsche RSR. Let me know if any of you get a good run out of any of the other cars.

I also hate Sector 4 because I lose time there if I choose the wrong amount of speed for the turn. Wish me luck.
 
@Andy M Hello, I'm Chris. I haven't seen you post here in a while. I'm thrilled about Brands Hatch and Suzuka. Not a fan of Trial Mountain because PD sets the barrier penalties high sometimes and it can affect my race when people ram into the back of me causing me to hit the wall, resulting in a 1.5 second penalty each time.

Can I add you to my friends list this week? I'm searching for some good replays to help me polish my skills on my own, and for any track in the game. PD sure picks TM a lot. Some races there are pure torture sometimes and I'm not joking.

i managed to fix my brake pedal after two months. I could not do it on the PS5 but connecting it to a PC, uploading new firmware and letting the PC auto calibrate it, resolved the issue. Yah! I’m back in business - sort of. I still have to take it easy with my leg.

I’m enjoying daily A in VR. I did a few laps to get the feel of the car and jumped into a race. I also switched off all visual aids so I had no idea what I was doing or where I was. It was raw and fun. I ended up 9th.

I took 2s off my QT and started higher up the grid. This time I put race info on so I had some clue. Was up to 5th but put myself out and ended up 9th again.

That was a lot closer though and it was fun looking at the other cars and drivers when you’re pulling along side down the hill. Wish the VR could track hand signals so we could gesture to the other drivers 😆

I took another 2s of my QT and started in 2nd in the next race. That race was a mix of A+ to B. I got into the lead end of lap 1, but approaching the first tunnel , the A+ muppet behind me bumps my rear and sends me spinning. I’m a good boy though and wait at the side of the track for everyone to pass and then rejoin in last.

The muppet then hits the curb after the tunnel and drops to 3rd but over the next lap climbs back to 1st. Then very last corner, muppet gets taken out in a pack of 1st to 4th. He spins and everyone passes. I come in 8th. Muppet is last.

There is a karma god. 😀

Edit. I did a couple more races before calling it a night. I know Race A is less competitive but this is still fun to get.

Tentatively joined Race A as I am learning to use a wheel for the first time and I am both slow and inconsistent. I am also learning to drive without chase-cam which is VERY tricky in traffic as I cannot see my opponents, very disconcerting.

The Mercedes is not bad to drive with TC2 TBH, but Trial mountain is poor for racing as the first few turns are always a mess and cause chaos. It sounds great though and I quite like the powerslide you can get in this thing. Hoping to dip into the 5's tonight if possible.
 
Just wanted to post a quick observation I have been noticing over the past 6 - 8 weeks... In the most humble way possible (I in no way am making myself trying to sound anything special lol) just wanted to say super extremely impressed and happy watching @Barney Da Dog steadily become faster and faster!

To the point where you have topped my friend LB for the past 3 weeks and I'm delighted to see! Nice and well done 😎
 
@Barney Da Dog that is an epic time, I have "maybe" 2/10s in me and usually I'd be chasing you and Catch the breeze but this week I genuinely don't think I can go any faster.

A solid effort but just not fast enough this time :( how you got it from that little lotus clone I'll never know!

As I said a few posts ago the amount of seriously fast guys on this thread and the TT one is a testament to this community, because every single one of has improved.

At GT7 launch I'd been out of sim racing for most of sport (inc PC as well) and through advice, frustration and effort I have to say thank you to all you guys, the silent ones who say nothing and top my leaderboard by a substantial margin through to those that set me on the learning pathway with guidance and tips and just listening to my frustration sometimes (all the time)

But where credit is due is how we have seen everyone improve @Chris30 has improved amazingly even consistently now getting TT medals.

Just makes posting on a random internet forum worth while and making virtual friends is the cherry.

It's a lovely, fun thing to drive - I think I'd probably bin it in a race though:lol: I actually had a bit of a moment on that fast lap where I thought I was going to crash. I had 20/40 50/50 in the 4C and I think BB was 3 or 4 to the back.

My optimal is still better with the G70, if I do the 20/40 50/50 setup BB 2 or 3 to the front, but in the races it seems more stable with 40/20 50/30

I have no idea how folk go fast in the Megane:confused:

1) The left hander on the back straight, obviously key here is get on the gas ASAP but are you guys firing through the right hander beforehand as hard as possible then tapping the brake to rotate left to get a good run onto the back straight, or do you go easy through the right hander to set up early for the left?

2) The final chicane of misery. The very last turn, the right, do you tap the brake to rotate?

You are really over thinking it.

There are two fast lines for 1 the deeper apex or the balls to the wall tight one, just do them over and over and in race adapt.

The last turn is fun on the last chicane because you can game it a little, by forcing a fraction of understeer, it slows the car just enough and the grip comes back at the right time.

It's super fun corner the last chicane in the custom cars. Understeer for a fraction and straighten up! All good and wind the power on to the barrier


Different topic and very much a first world problem.

In the NSX I can Pit (in VR and very much on the pace) at lap 2 I pick this as a strategy and my tires are only half way by lap 11, this is in 1.28/1.29 lobbies.

I appreciate that others can't do that strat and that's fine but I had a run in with a streamer where I'd indicated swung wide to take the fastest line for both of us, all they had to do was lift and let me cut in to the pit.

They went up the inside for some reason....I went wide apparently and "cut across them"

So all this aside, I think the strat differential caught them out, I was setting purples on lap 9 and 10....

My question is do you want the replay or just move on?

What's the betting he goes meta G70 and grinds that stuff hard for a hollow...hollow win.

I'll post the replay, but my issue is with the guy being a prick rather than let me pit (we are both A and A+ racers) but he was seal clubbing on an alt.

And I was just bringing my alt back up

No joke, something weird is happening during the laps which has never happened before since the game came out!?! And it is a consistent glitch as it always happens in the same place during each lap! As soon as I approach the final chicane of Suzuka (right after 130R) the game seems to glitch for a split of a second - I even get a couple of thin, grey lines across the entire screen! Happened on the last 4 laps I have tried and even after exiting and coming back, it happened on the 2nd and 5th lap of the stint...

Really annoying/ worrying/ frustrating and even the wheel kind of loses a bit of feel when it happens! Literally a split second each time but not normal.... At least still managing to improve a bit however it is starting to piss me off!

Just so you know there are some really fast people on my leaderboard who aren't having your issue 👍

OMG I am crapping my pants!! The mystery problem just gave itself away very aggressively! It's the wheel - the friggin DD Pro wheel seems to have suddenly died!?!

  1. Glitch happened a few more times
  2. Next lap the wheel went limp and it was like it is no longer connected (no buttons work, etc) but the power button was still glowing blue to show connection to PS5
  3. Turned wheel off, removed it from hub and connected again and turn it on. Power button again is blue, wheel does its rotation as normal but pressing the PSN button does nothing and cannot connect.
  4. Turned the wheel completely off again (including power outlet) and waited for the power unit thing to also turn off.
  5. Switched on again and this time, not even the wheel screen turned on!?! The wheel still did the rotation and button still lights blue but nothing on the wheel screen and PSN button also does nothing...
Am I screwed?! Anyone knows what this is? Not how I wanted 2025 to kick off! 😭💩⚰️
 
Hi guys, I went down to 1:59.8, trying to confirm my ideal of '59.2 at Suzuka. It's my first time there in a daily event. I kinda regrett to not have tried it before, really. I'm loving the 911 around T1 and T2. Still very conservative in 1st, Spoon and last corners entries (not always btw), so those 6 tenths are there to be chipped away by tomorrow evening, hopefully.

In my defense my back still hurts so I was amazed I was able to do as well as I could yesterday.

I know I won’t be competitive for a long time so it’s daily A only for now where it doesn’t matter so much on your performance. All that matters is how much fun and in VR the W 196 R is lovely.
