I'm reluctant to race this week at all, not worried about DR or SR as I can get those things back but just the whole fun while racing equation looks a bit knife edge and the races aren't massively appealing (this is in my opinion, mileage varies on this stuff so eye of the be holder etc)

I just personally don't think that GV is a good racing circuit, and le man is well a bit over done in the 1 make meta race with no strat etc.

Yes MX5s are fun but with no skin in the game a bit anti climatic.

Odd week in my opinion

Had several really good races on Monday night my time and still had 1 last night but sometimes it's not your night. Me making not making the right split second decisions a couple of times didn't help either. But I love racing LeMans normally.

Not worried about my ratings since we know SR is a joke with the way it works now and that's the only one I used to really care about. Got bump drafted a lot by a much lower rated driver in my good race. I lost SR and they gained it. So now I don't bother with the rating. Still sucks that a few Japanese drivers I ran into last night refused to bump draft and got upset if I was doing it to them. Even lifting to just gently nudge them forward and it would be flashing lights and swerving to get away. Makes it much harder to try catching up at that point.

Did one race A this morning b/c I like RA and the Mazda, but man there’s no grip on those CS tires!

It’s actually good for car control, but who would go on track with tires like that irl, let alone race on them?

I dunno man, the blind right at the top of the hill, you gotta take a CHUNK out of that kerb to save time and then god help you on the left at the bottom of the hill, you need to take a lot of the kerb on the left and not to wide on the right. All i know is, cars light up like Xmas trees with penalties after sector 1.

Everyone's mileage varies on these things...

A lot of the lobbies I'm in penalties are less and less now and fractional for the pace. Horses for courses.

You do not need to ride the curbs so hard.

Did one race A this morning b/c I like RA and the Mazda, but man there’s no grip on those CS tires!
It’s actually good for car control, but who would go on track with tires like that irl, let alone race on them?

They don't feel as bad as I expected, I only really feel it into Turn 1 TBH. But yeah what does a set of Michelin PS4S count as? I have them on my 911 and I suspect they've a bit more grip than "Comfort Soft".

I think Comfort Soft is a typo - should be Completely *****

Just a little bit more grip and it would be great for racing. I used to love Race A on GT Sport when they had the Mazda MX5s on a grippy tyre

I think that is the thing that is the issue, these cars are still massively fun on a better tire like the one they would come out of the factory with...

Me. I love stuff like that. Before PD decided to remove DR and sometimes SR from Daily A we had a large contigent of regular racers in these types of combos that were awesome fun to race with. And your skill did get some recognition in the ratings system. It wasn't GR 4-1 cars only counted. But since they dropped DR a lot of people stopped doing A races and it's never really recovered.

Elise eh, proper driver's car that. If I didn't need a back seat i'd have considered an Exige, wouldn't it be great to see Lotus in the game! An Elise Race A of SS would be fun.

It’s such a pure driver’s car, but the 911 is more of an all-rounder (you can daily, but it’s still fun to drive).

Would love to see an Elise in the game! Assetto has ‘em. Used it to practice before I took my Elise to Laguna.

@Redneckchef - think I’m gonna focus on A this week and see if I can adjust to the los grip tires.

It's about learning to be very gentle on inputs and how to play the weight shift to your advantage. Also learning to sometimes just let go and coast and let the car manage itself. It's so awesome when you get it right. Feels somewhat effortless. Braking early and less and being able to just let the car roll the corner carrying speed is a fun feeling when you find it. Sometimes you never do

I feellike I am putting good laps together but struggling for pace, best is a low 47 and friends are in the mid to high 45's. T1 i struggle, not sure how much to brake and how much to coast. Always feel you leave time on the table at the two corners I mentioned earlier. The first "Lesmo" is fantastic, car really hooks up there and there's a ton of grip for some reason.

I'm done with Race C. Sick of being bump drafted the whole way down the straight only to be divebombed and run wide into the hairpin.

I'm actually loving Race A. The Miata is slow as hell on the straights, but keeping the mid-corner momentum up is both challenging and rewarding. Have bagged a couple of poles and wins too which is doing wonders for the driver rating!

It's brutal, I just got mine and man it's so, so bad on race cars. On the Miata I have FFB strength up at 7 vs 1 on the race cars and it feels great, on the race cars it's wobbling like it's had to many pints, just terrible.

The time to hope for a fix is about now. It comes with the updates and i’ve had a couple of weird wheel crashes which have been gone since 462..so…guessing/hoping they are going to at least take a swing.

Took a quick gander at the Race A times, and holy crap some of y'all are quick. Slow down! 😤 😅

Spent a couple dozen laps whittling my time down to a 1:46.112. Improving my Turns 1 and 7 should drop me into the 1:45s.

The racing hard tires don't help either so I'll be done there this week. My qualifying time is where it should be at a 1:50.4XX. It's just not a combo I can overcome. I'll join the "Cuties" fun in Race A and not worry about DR/SR for the rest of the week.

I ran a couple partial laps at GVH and have no clue how I would last an entire race. Too much car with not enough traction on too small a track. Not feelin' it, won't be runnin' it. Might run some laps at C to see what kind of times I can muster but we'll see.

Race A, on the other hand, is a bit dreamy. I think the low traction matches up nicely with the low power and makes the car fun to drive. Keeping momentum in this lawnmower ain't easy, lol.

I know it won't last, but it feels good in the moment.😁

I agree mostly but would say that Atlanta is one of the easier tracks, it has 2 corners that can be tricky but easy to learn. But it's essentially a drag car circuit in most classes.

GV is too unforgiving for the pace and the nature of the run off areas or walls. Stunning to look at in VR though. But it's not engineered for encouraging racing as you say the corners are designed for road cars with a few racing liberties in the design thrown in.

The more I think about the original GV layout and profiling the more I think it’s better for racing (final sector is just straight up Tilke levels of unenjoyable). But that’s a nostalgic mind talking.

Current is too narrow, too many fall away cambers and not enough usable kerbing to give a bit of racing wiggle room.

It’s very difficult to get any passing done without any doors being drilled esp since the new physics.

I've watched replays and cannot fathom how guys are doing 45s in race A. I can barely do a 47, totally befuddled how to find more time, if I drive harder I don't have the grip, if I go slow in fast out I bleed time......I'm just old fashioned slow. So slow. Especially t1.

Are you talking qualifying or race times?

I find with the Miata you need to brake in a straight line, lift off and turn-in while coasting. Then mash the throttle once you're online for the exit.

For some reason the car is neutral off throttle, but a mess under brakes or transitioning from brake to throttle.

I'm sitting on a 45.2 qualifying time but the A+ guys are a second quicker than that 🤯

DR updates are indeed turned off this week for Daily Race A, as they almost always are - so your driver rating will not be done wonders by winning in Race A. Your SR will change as normal.

Why would they be off?

Because PD seems to think only Gr 1, 2, 3, or 4 race cars are worth counting for DR and have basically treated road cars as an unwanted and annoying side project for race A. Don't know why as we used to have lots of great crews that did a lot of race A. But since GT7 PD has treated daily pretty poorly.
