Regarding the discussion about late-week non-meta attempts with the Group 4s... My original plan was to set a quali in the Alfa, then plonk the Cayman onto the grid and get some defensive driving practice. It didn't quite work out, with time being at a premium this week and not wanting to pivot straight from a quali session in one car to a race in another, so my 2.10.00x in the Porsche had to suffice.

Contently, I slipped lower and lower in the A-band, and as fully expected, I seesawed between lobbies with mixed DR A/B and sporadic A+ rooms (the strange matchmaking quirk that I'm sure we've all experienced).

At my 'peak', 9th on the grid, I enjoyed some really fun races. Often flirting with danger given that my only choice was to try a move at one of three concrete places, due to the IOP (Imbalance Of Performance):

1. The off-camber last right hander of the esses, before Dunlop corner.
2. Degner 2
3. Any part of the final sector.

As you can imagine, argy-bargy is inevitable and a few rear-end dingers meant I was a victim to overblown revenge more than once this week. One such perpetrator gave me the "it's only a game, dude", which is fine, unless it's your last race of the day ruined before you head off for a busy 10 hour Friday night bar shift.

Loads of replays over in my gallery, as always. If anyone's interested.

Spent some time yesterday improving my Race C QT with the NSX Gr.3, and got a 1:57.584. I still feel awkward going through the Mercedes Arena and Veedol Shikane, but I'm itching to get a few races in before the big sportsball event.

Race 1: Started P7. Had a solo spin at Turn 1 on Lap 2, and went for the undercut at the end of lap. My pace and consistency were abysmal, with only one lap under two minutes. Finished P13.

Race 2: Started P10. Went for the undercut at the end of Lap 1, and collected a pit penalty. Pace and consistency were better, though. Finished P7.

Race 3: Started P14. Took advantage of some fortuitous clean air, and overcut at the end of Lap 8. Outbraking myself into Turn 11 on my in lap put me behind two cars I probably should have been in front of. Finished P9.

Race 4: Started P11. Went for the undercut at the end of a chaotic Lap 1. Finished P9.

Race 5: Started P15. Overcut at the end of Lap 7 to avoid holding up one of the lead cars that pit early. Thought I had pace and track position to come out in the Top 10 when I finished my stop, but alas... Finished P13.

Eh, three finishes P10 or better on a track I'm weak at isn't too bad. Improving my pace had the unfortunate side effect of lumping me in with faster people. Ah well, better luck next time.

Not a daily but a lobby, SimGT scared me to death at the death chicane in VR 🤣

I flinched so hard 🤣

It's a lot scarier actually in VR and looking head on at a car in the death chicane!!!

Goodness gracious! I jumped some at this. How fast were you going through the chicane of death? Driving the real thing is way more scarier for me if I drove a real car. At least you passed it well, in good hands.

Those GR.2 cars on soft tyres bring Fuji alive, normally I find it a slow and tedious track, but the grip in these cars make it so much better.

Great timing for some memories, this was the view from our hotel room a year and a day ago. A couple of hours before we rode past Mt Fuji on the Bullet train to Fukuoka.

Well, that's me done for the week. A complete **** show in race C reported twice apparently. First one I hold my hands up for and I will take whatever happens. The second one I was apparently reported when the German in front of me slammed on the brakes going on to the pit lane when he didn't need to, I could do absolutely nothing as I was literally right behind him. I got no penalty for it but the guy was not impressed. He waited for me the next lap and collected 8 seconds worth of penalties for himself by punting me off a couple of times. I wouldn't mind except that we were having a good race up until then (he was 2nd, me 3rd). Anyway, I am not going to bother with it now. Back to iRacing I think.

Okay, I'm getting real sick of waiting 10 minutes between races. Until recently, races were a bit longer so I'd leave the lobby at about 5 minutes before another race starts. Finished A and want to do B or C? Whoops, you left the lobby at 7:12, guess you gotta wait until half past. Finished B in a 7:30 timeslot and wanna do C? Well, the timer says 18 minutes, ain't that the darndest thing? 10/10/20+ minutes was perfectly fine and we were doing 5-lap gt3spalol race B's no problem. Just who benefits from this? Qualifying guys? I can qualify without entering a race! Does anyone here suffer from burnout and really need that extra 3 minutes to recuperate from getting brake-checked into the hairpin?

Unfortunately you cannot buy a new engine for any "race" car. Not Gr.4, Gr.3, Gr.2, or Gr.1 not even Gr.B either.
Edit- You can get an engine overhaul at GT AutoView attachment 1427672
Nah, I tried that, it was still at 478BHP. There's permanent engine degredation after you drive 10000km and I lost about 0.1 horsepower, so I sold the Audi (rip) and got a new one.

I’m happy with Spa gr3, hope it’s on RM but 3 laps really doesn’t bode well for the first corner race winners which this will attract,

What’s the car combo for race A, that might be fun,
Race A is the '87 Civic added in the recent update. Comfort Mediums.

Race B (the 3 lap divebomb fest) is on mediums as you hoped.

Race C is on softs, which would be great fun anywhere but the last sector of Fuji (the rest is fine). It's also virtually a NSX one-make.

Thanks buddy, could be a week of A again? 😁

I like the specific car thing on C again. PD has done this multiple times in recent memory (TT at Spa, GrC cars only at LeMans, Gr2 concept cars only at Sardegna, and now GT500 cars only at Fuji). It's almost like they've recognized their grouping system (specifically Gr1 and Gr2) is stupid.
