The problem with lifting is you get mauled at big stops. I am farming SR so trying to avoid even racing, i yield, it just causes more problems because people bomb in from WAY back, well off the radar, Once one guy does it it's on for young and old as you are now off the pace, before you know it you're facing backwards and dead last.

Just as an FYI this is why I think it would have been fine if you had given the place back, things happen and there was no overt contact or evasive action needed just very tight. Point 12.21.3 is the most relevant

Edit: cross posted with Neville but it is always the expectation that you are trying to maintain racing speeds and consistent predictable car control as well.

I mean ideally he yields there, and still should have but I can see the rationale.

I am in DRB lobbies right now and overall I am on the pace, qualy top 3 etc but i am clearly very fast through the first left hander and it is catching me out. If i press on i risk contact but even a TINY lift and the mob is circling like i am a witch in the 1400's.

Opinions on this one will be much appreciated.

Fuji, 1st lap starting from P9.
P8 tries turn 3 side by side with P7 and didnt work.
He misses the apex and gets a really slow exit of the turn.
I get to him faster and I have 2 options. Pass him over the kerb risking some track limits pen or lift and stay behind him.
Passing on the outside didnt seem an option because the position of the cars at that moment.

I send it almost off the track asuming a track penalty should be better than be eaten alive for lifting or braking there.

He doesent give me much room when tring to rejoin and then he turns into me. He probably didnt see me there and I dont blaim him for that.

Is it ok my move or lifting was the right thing to do there?

By the way, if you want to see how scary is to witness a punt revenge assasination on VR just wait until dunlop chicane

Yeah one of those split second moments I’d say, you could have expected him to give you a little space and he could have expected you to lift off as it’s on the first lap and really you don’t want a race ruiner on the first corners of the first lap

Sometimes stuff happens

Im chasing Gallos ghost.
Before that I was losing so much time in the final sector downshifting to 1st gear for better rotation until discover is faster to coast the turns in 2nd gear

Edit: grammar

Just did a race on my alt account and improved to a .2 so getting close.

I'm using Gallo as well and I'm ok in sector 3 as I grinded that so hard when we had Gr4 here and put the Veyron about 189th when the week finished, sector 2 is my weak point at the moment.

Sector 2 is also the death sector, people brake so late after the sweeping right hander and have this crap slow line all the way down the hill....like mate(s) come on! 🤣

I'm just editing a video to show how busy the first laps are in AI and the bumper cam view of it as well, it's all close but mostly survivable

Turn 6 is pure chaos. Seems like a multiclass race with people braking everywhere.
If in the first lap you arrive there in the middle of the pack, just pray.

Ok this is not 2 videos I expect to even get watched but I wanted to post 2 perspectives of the same race.

It's a good race but nothing crazy, lots of close racing but I have done a VR view and what it would have looked like if I was playing bumper cam again.

A couple of points I see a few streamers who are "not idiots but try a little bit to much and have a little less special awareness" make contact in some of these situations, I just don't think they understand where there car is vs where it really is.

Anyways for brevity, lap 1, 3,8 and the last lap are the main ones.

I made contact on lap 8 at the end of sector 3 but no drama and still have full SR

VR Fuji GR2 - 7th to 7th challenge 🤣

Same race in Bumpercam

I feel like I am all but adapted to a wheel now but I used to play chase cam, i now use bonnet cam and honestly I am utterly hopeless in close quarters. Totally lost. No idea.

It's not the wheel it's having pedals that is the biggest thing, you'll get a whole load of opinions on "feedback, otherwise known as noise, but not a lot on how much more important it is to have pedals loadcell or not" mastering footwork is the main thing, arms move instinctively but finesse comes from controlling your feet.

Edit: @NevilleNobody here is a bumper cam video of me going 1st to last to 2nd in bumpercam as that's what I used to use.

This is a DD wheel and I use a load cell, slightly off meta in this one and a US lobby B/S

I actually enjoy this video quite a bit as it's just me practicing working through the field and it was a good field but this is why being SR S is important and also just being a good racer.

Sorry I meant view wise, on pad one can use chase cam, on a wheel it feels weird so adjusting to bonnet cam is tough from an awareness perspective. The radar is too tight imho, should have a wider view.

I was a pad bumper cam user for 20 years when not using a wheel with other games.

I can't comment on chase cam as you say it doesn't feel right with a wheel and you can't do it in VR anyway.
