GT7 Daily Race Discussion

I tried daily race C tonight. Was an absolute disaster.

I started in fourth with a decent enough QT. My strategy was start on racing hard for eight laps then switch to racing mediums. Wasn’t doing too bad in the first half but I didn’t seem to have speed on the straights.

I was in fourth when people started to pit ahead of me. I came in after eight laps and switched to racing mediums and it was like I was driving in molasses. On the straights cars were just flying by me like I was standing still. At the end of the race i came 10th and then got a two minute penalty dropping me to 13th🤷🏼‍♂️.

I was like why? I changed my tires from RH to RM. So I’ll looked at my replay. I started on RM 🤦. I was practicing on RH but the game reset me after I exited just before the start and I didn’t realize. What a screwup.

Also in the replay, I noticed that my brake pedal was glitching out and was constantly applying brake throughout the race. That’s why I had no speed on the straights.

My brakes been a problem since about November. I thought I fixed it, but it seems that the the phantom braking is coming back. Anybody wanna buy a glitchy pair of the two pedals?☹️

Couple of questions. The Alfa 4C was good at QT even with my glichy pedals. But in the race it was devoured. Assuming I can drive without breaking all the time is the car actually any good in race, or should I pivot to the Supra?

I had the pedal glitch on both trottle and brake occasionally (Logitech G923, once on brake and twice on trottle). Didn't do anything but switching off everything, disconnect the wheel and pedals jacks, switch on the PS and reconnect the wheel. I estimate it's a software's problem rather than an hardware's one.

This used to happen to me all the time too, i didnt notice for ages it was happening either, i just thought i was really slow, ppl must have been thinking why is this tool braking checking me down the straight.

I had been using the grease that came with the performance brake kit in my V3s, so i sacked that off and now use WD40 Specialist PTFE Lubricant and it works a dream, doesn’t happen to me now.

I strongly recommend to stick with the Alfa
The Alfa is good in Qualy and in race also. It hasnt the top end speed of the supra but is almost there and if you are close enough you can easily overtake them with the slip.

For the technical sector, the 911 and the 4C are the best cars to build a gap over the rest (or catch them) because of its excelent handling.
Once you tame it and feel confident, it flows like "dancing" through the turns.
So enjoyable to drive

Im totally inloved with the 4C in Gr3 (in Gr4 I was already inloved 😎) at the point that Ive decided to go with Alfa for manufacturers the rest of the year no matter what.

Ok, how everyone is driving the Lancer is beyond me. That car and I do NOT get along. For lack of a better term, the throttle inputs feel spongy, which makes the whole car feel that way. I'll try again later but for now the thing is going back in storage.

Took the WRX instead...should make for an interesting week of races at RBR. Was picking up some pace but started to worry that <PENALTY> was gonna get perma-burned into my display so gave up for the night...

Yeah slowly improving - those track limits drive me nuts. Be one thing gaining an advantage but running off, slowing down, then a penalty on top 🙄

It's a pity there wasn't a couple more laps of course 😕

Glad it’s not just me, after 30 mins I’m getting some slight vibration or current running through the wheel, I’ve dialled it down a bit so it’s not too annoying but boy is it annoying!

Yes mate, I guessed you had a lot of in game torque as well as ruining it at the full 8nm - that sounded brutal, is it still like it?

When I first got this new base, I had it bad, but I wasn’t running driver 464, sorted once I updated it 🤨 in some ways I’m glad it’s a software issue, I didn’t have this on my old base so it’s defo a new thing

When I first got this new base, I had it bad, but I wasn’t running driver 464, sorted once I updated it 🤨 in some ways I’m glad it’s a software issue, I didn’t have this on my old base so it’s defo a new thing

I have lessened it a bit through switching from the PD recommended settings to the default ones. Wheel base is set to 100 but in game only run 5-8 torque and sensitivity at 1.

Hmmm I will double check the firmware but I did it in the last few months, worth a shot. 🤔

I’m using digits latest settings, but I didn’t try in game sensitivity at 1 so I’ll give that a go 👍

Yeah I am at strength of 5 with Group 3 and 4 cars so hardly stressing the settings and the grind is insane.

The sensitivity at 1 certainly helps it, I have ffb on the wheel at 90, 5 in game torque - it’s manageable and still with some ffb

So close to 100 now 🙈 If I do get it then I am done for the week as the track limit penalties are just making RBR miserable for me, I am not enjoying it at all unfortunately.

I also had a great smash at Daily Race C today, managed 2nd Place at Deep Forest in the NSX Gr.3 was chasing a pesky Alfa Romeo Gr.3 not sure why he kept gettign away from me! THere a bad fender bender on lap 4-5 in the firs set of tunnels allowing me to gain lead.

Overall good solid race.

Crikey it’s been a long hard slog today at RBR, I’ll put it down to it not being my best track I just couldn’t extract any more time than my heathen 1.36.530 🤣

I turned to the g70 today because it’s better at carrying speed through the second to last corner, I just can’t do that corner in the Evo in 4th, I’m surprised at how competitive the g70 is and the Alfa, so shouldn’t be as one make as it is,

I’m sticking with the G70 now.

Man these were hard fought wins, they probably shouldn’t have been but it’s a tale of who can get the least penalties 🤣😁

Well, Im not proud of this one but in the heat of the moment I took the worst decision.

I always try to not retaliate and its been a while since I dont do it but Im human and sometimes I can overreact like when they try to kill you out of the blue in plain straight... and we are talking about an A+ lobby.

No excuse, I can do better.
It is a shame because we were having an excelent race. And even after the incident (he obviously killed me again) I had plenty of oportunities to retaliate again and I didnt do it.

I may send the whole race to @Tidgney for his "plebs of the week" series.

I know that guy and have raced with him many times. Ironically my first meeting with him was on this track with similar results but we went from being enemies to being friends over time.

He is very fast and has a bit of a reputation, but I've learned that while he's pretty aggressive he's clean until you give him a reason not to be and then he won't hesitate to put you in the wall.

Would be curious to see the entire race as I would bet there is more to this.

For daily A which I have to say is very fun, my weapon of choice is Escort Van Man as white vans based on cars are some of the fastest vehicles on the planet. They handle every type of mechanical abuse just wish it had "I wish my wife was this dirty" etched in the dirt on the back...

I was a mk1 golf guy, the first one would never start (1.3 dressed as a GTi in Mars Red) when you put petrol in it then I went to 205GTis they had Blaubunkt tape players in them. There is a lot of crap pop dance songs remix tapes interspersed with Dr Dre, Nirvana, and REM tapes knocking around on the floor.

My dad had a Granada Ghia mk4 estate that I used to take the lady friend out in.....velour and electric windows....

We are now married 25 years later...the stories that car could tell 🤣

One thing is to be aggressive and a very different one is to be dirty.

He started the race way ahead of me and was killed in the haipin by other driver.
At first I thought "perhaps he thinks it was me" but then I remembered that before our incident we were doing some laps side by side and passing each other until he went mad so it cant be that... he had plenty of oportunities before and all of a sudden he tried to put me in the wall.

If you check the replay, you will also see that after that incident (wich I retaliate and regret) he pushed me off again with no other retaliations from my part (and I have several oportunities to do so)

My reaction was in the heat of the moment, once I cooldown I can take it better.

P.S.: I think you fell short with that of a "bit" of reputation and I also must admit that my only ban in this game was after I insulted him like 2 years ago in a post race chat (he was punting off everybody and mocking people in the chat).

Thats the only history between us but I cant believe hes doing this for something wich happened 2 years ago...
I dont even think he remember that episode wich I still remember because of the ban
