Woohoo...feelin' like a lo-fidelity all-star in Race A today...šŸ˜

I don't often post race A races (especially from my US Alt) because I don't do many of them (unless the awesome tuned cars)

But I'm going to post this short clip, because a couple of reasons. A is is unranked (No DR) and the person messages me after apologising and saying sorry.

I said thanks for waiting and he said "I couldnt wait there was a car in between us" "ok but that's why we wait, to make the wronged person sort of semi whole?" "Don't crucify me I apologized"

This went on for several messages until I called his apology hollow and left it in 2 races later and called it done. He still finished second in daily A but I gained SR and he lost it. I love how this stuff works out sometimes.

This is an A/S driver

Edit: to be very clear I'm in A to practice and recover SR from the B horror show. So "losing" isn't the issue it the admitting the mistake (left that throttle ALL THE WAY IN)

It's the follow up PSN messages trying to be victimised for saying sorry that bug the absolute piss out of me!

Awesome time mate, I saw you and @Mc_Yavel had some decent times on A, I think Iā€™ve worked out how to take the second but last turn flat out, sort of like turn 3 so Iā€™m going to try getting into the 1.38ā€™s tomorrow

Sort of given up on race B, the icing on the cake was 2 x pink livered cars who came in and Leroy Jenkins the race šŸ˜

But A is again a decent race for the most part

Edit

@newmedia_dev definitely a strange one, no intention of waiting and then apologising - thatā€™s passive aggressive šŸ˜ yeah unfortunately itā€™s a throw up between a clean that happens and a not clean, mostly the latter Iā€™d say šŸ¤Ø

I'm way more cynical than you šŸ¤£

It just bugs me he didn't lift off with both of us off track. The problem I deep down have is that this is no DR and he had a lot of opportunity to not get in to a position to have to say sorry. Deliberate yes, malicious no. But very reflective of race control, car control and overall ability.

Honestly I wouldn't expect that in any lobby especially a daily A and it bugs me a bit that someone would apologize for A race mishaps.

Sweat to win, sweat to win.

Honestly be the guy that finishes and you'll always finish further and further ahead. I like all my wins to be ones where I don't have to apologise.

Edit: because my god the spelling, auto correct and just words šŸ¤£

Weird thing this week. Race C, low D lobby, I'm like a quarter bar of D right now, anyway, finished 12th, but so many ppl got tire or pit penalties that I placed 4th! But after the race, my DR was the same. Now it's possible almost everyone in there was lower rated than me, but not too likely.
Then I thought of the delay that happens when you finish, you get the checkered flag, and then the penalties are applied. Is it possible there's a glitch that awards DR on your place before penalties? I guess if that were true A drivers would have figured it out and exploited it by now. It would explain though why so many ppl got penalties if they knew it didn't matter.

There can be a little bit of lag in DR and SR updates.

Mate you gotta get out of those D lobbies. Focus on race lap times not positions.

There is no reason reading all the advice here and the TT thread.

Honestly driving standards are the reason you are in D

Hah I like your advice but I've been in D since GT Sport and only got to C in weeks where Tsukuba came around, I am what I am at this point haha.

Dude you do you, but honestly it's not hard to drive better and quicker and also safer.

There is no excuse (if you want to improve) that you sit in D or C only your decision making or really bad car control.

... do pretty much anything in GT as no part of this is enforced.

Don't mistake this for disagreement with your sentiment - it's poor etiquette to weave down the straights, and really you're only supposed to change lines once with the second move being a return to the racing line ahead of the braking zone - but just an expression of reality. If GT's penalty system doesn't penalise you for it, it is allowed and, de facto, you're entitled to do it.

Personally, I only move once (usually to right up against the pit wall) before returning to the racing line for braking. It's not a requirement of me though.

This is why I talked about ā€œetiquetteā€ not rules. Itā€™s unfortunate that so many choose to adhere to rules enforcement rather than good etiquette. Case in point: drivers arenā€™t penalized for running another car off the road with side on contact. Should we all just do that from now on?

Distance matters. Thebtow in the game is crazy strong so early on the straight and like 1 second away then weave away but pick a lane before the braking area and/or if things are under half a second.

Nope.

Just. Donā€™t. Weave.

Itā€™s simple.

Took me all of GT Sport and at least the first two years of GT7 to realise that it was my short fuse that was stopping me becoming an A rated driver and staying in A after I got there. I was in and out of A like a yo-yo for while :D

That said, being Scottish really doesnā€™t help, Iā€™ve got at least 50% ginger in me and when the mist descends the ginger gene seems to take over and I turn into Begbie, not good :mischievous:

Iā€™d like to throw in my 2p worth regarding weaving too.

The only time and I really mean the only time I see moving around is ok, is if you are on the final lap and the final straight into the finish line.

The car behind is coming to steal the win from you and is just entering your slip, you may try to break to tow by moving around a bit, that doesnā€™t mean weaving like a mad man though, I generally move across a little bit, then move across a little bit again and keep doing so until Iā€™m at the edge of the track, when there I stay there till I hit the finish line in first or not.

However if the car behind you has caught up and is around a cars length away, just stop moving around, tuck your head in behind your steering wheel for aerodynamic reasons (my missus actually seen me doing this and said wtf are you doing šŸ˜‚) and start praying youā€™ve got enough momentum to get you to the finish line before they do.

If you keep weaving when they are under a cars length away in this situation, you may get pit manoeuvred and lose 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc etc, ok say you come 2nd, itā€™s still a good race, learn from this and next time, try to control your mind under pressure so that you take the last corner like a boss šŸ¤˜

Likely your DR went up, but finishing in 4th is not a guarantee. DR works per the following (credit: Famine):

"DR is solely determined by your race finishing positions: a straightforward exchange of points between you, the people you beat and people who beat you scaled according to the relative difference in points between you."

Did the post-race screen show a blue arrow up at the end of the race for you?

Way to DR shame Randall - and everyone else out there who is DR D or C - there, mate. That was a d**k thing to say.

I'm really out of options.
Since 2021 I'm being bullied in Daily race B by the same player, a fellow italian.
A couple of months ago I changed my GT name specifically to avoid getting recognized by him, thinking he checks that and not the PSN id.
Last night he was in the lobby. Before the race he tagged me saying "watch out for the dude behind you" (another random player) to which I replied "right". So I thought, wow I'm safe he didn't recognize me.
During the race he started bumping and triggering some other players in front of me, who even wrote about him in the quick race chat.
In the 4th or 5th lap he was in front of me and right after corner #1 I kept the outside to pass him on the left, since I was faster. He let me get side by side, then he proceeded to bump me on the grass. I couldn't stand it. I locked with the back of his car to try to stay on track and I made him spin-out a bit. I really had no choice, I was sick and tired of this behavior.
He lost a bunch of positions and I simply tagged him with "enough".

I didn't check at the end of that race (because for some reason we were all kicked out after 15 seconds or so), but he ALWAYS has an S rating. That is the most frustrating part. He handpicks players he doesn't like for some reason and then keeps his S rating for driving clean somehow.
Usually we're both A-S, but this week we're B-S.
All I know is that after that race I kept my flawless S SR.

What should I do? In all these years I repeatedly tried to calmly ask him for an explanation and he NEVER replied, to either private messages or messages in the lobby.

As I was saying I'm out of options because in a way or another he ruins my races. I don't race much, but when I'm online he's in the same lobby 30-40% of the time.

Iā€™d suggest turning off the in game chat and just ignoring him, if you donā€™t give him opportunity to annoy you, by not conversing with him, donā€™t play up to his bumping you etc, he will soon get bored

What do you mean by turn off in-game chat? He has the same attitude regardless.
So I'm supposed to let him bully me and ruin my races endlessly? Would you?
Unfortunately he doesn't get bored since he's been doing this since 2021.

All I am saying is whilst you engage with him, he will continue and there is a little matter of also using the reporting functions, if he goes too far he could get banned, they may well make him think twice.

I usually do not engage with him. Yesterday was an exception because he was intentionally putting me out of the race for good. I can't let that happen. I doubt you would let him repeatedly bully you, the way he does to me.

You can only report for communication, images etc. You cannot report unsporting behavior in GT7. Not even PSN allows it when you press the option button on the profile of the player. I tried.
That is the problem, he cannot get suspended or banned for this.
That is a real issue with PSN. On Xbox it's a different story.

Indeed - it's very hard to get a player disciplined for this (harking back to my earlier comment).

Save a few replays and send them in to @Tidgney for his Plebs of the Week video.

This is why I said "don't take this as disagreement".

The uncomfortable fact is, as demonstrated above, etiquette is something each player decides to interpret and adhere to themselves. While we can all sit and judge what's fair and unfair (rarely to unanimity), the ultimate judge of what's allowed is the penalty system.

Smashing into people is sometimes penalised and sometimes not, so it's sometimes allowed and sometimes isn't. Weaving is never penalised, so is always allowed.

Whether you do it or not is just personal choice, according to your own ethics. Not everyone shares them. That's the reality.

Sharing good practice, as we do here, is good. Propagating it through fellow members so that they behave well online is good. The overwhelming majority of players online are not members here and won't necessarily do that.

Again, don't mistake this for disagreement and by all means be the change you wish to see, but you have to recognise that there is a giant gulf between what's fair (subjective) and what is regulated (objective) - even when PD makes you sit through a video explaining racing etiquette before you ever race, most of which it doesn't enforce at all.

Haha it's fine I'm at peace with the fact I'll never be in top split or anywhere near A and B, I just try to stay out of bottom split with the occasional trip into C land.
That's cool bud, I genuinely meant my comment to be more of a "come on mate, you'll get there just for us on your driving etc"

But it came across completely the opposite. I apologise it was not intended that way at all, just what my head was thinking didn't quite make it to my fingers (defo blaming šŸ»)

As the week draws to a close, Iā€™ve had a good week all in all, kids and missus were away so I had far too much time at home with GT7 and clearly not enough tasks around the house to keep me sane šŸ˜

Red bull ring has been fierce all week, managed 3 wins, mostly opportunistic when the few in front of me came together etc, mostly I couldnā€™t quite get a time needed for more wins but the lobbies were so tight generally there was little over a second in the whole lobby!

Race A Iā€™m really starting to warm to, always a good challenge, always something different and generally fun and clean too, plenty of wins here.

Happy to have passed the 300 win mark, as milestones go.

Looking forward to see what next week brings.

@newmedia_dev At the end of the day itā€™s a video game šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø But at least you didnā€™t double down after, edit oh wait, well at least you didnā€™t triple down.
It's done I apologised, it was late in the UK ish I'd had a few drinks and had a bad run in from the video I'd posted earlier.

I contribute very constructively and positively to the community and try to help as many people I can. Check my post count and reactions before forming a broad opinion on 2 posts I apologised for, also used the word "cringed" when I read them back this morning.
