So bit of a strange one at the ring, but this could have just been because i was tired.

Did some practice laps during the day yesterday, managed to nail a 7,59:xxx round the ring, wasn’t having a lot of trouble and certainly wasn’t binning it at nearly every corner.

Jumped on last night thinking ill try to get nearer 7,55:xxx then ill have a few races. Oh no you wont said Punch and Judy, I couldn’t even get half way around the the track without binning, at the start i couldnt even get thru the first S bends without drama, I spent more time on the grass and in the sand than i did on the tarmac :banghead:, after an hour I thought F this 💩 and went to bed :D

Reading the comments above regarding the ABS, something didnt feel right last night, car seemed very unsettled especially under braking, I will give it another try today with abs on weak and see what gives

In a 24 hour race that would be a sight for sore eyes.
Remember when Penthouse and Rizla teamed up to run an F1 team?

I kind of wish DR was on for this one. Seems the last couple of times Nords has come up, it's been an A race. Ah well, I'll still get my fill this week.
I'm starting to have a big problem with this arrangement... Imagine hypothetically that a Race A combo is your personal best in terms of ability and performance. This week's is a good example.

What do you do to get matched in appropriate lobbies? You have to somehow rank yourself up in the other races (which may not be possible), just to be able to enjoy Race A at your level.

Does anyone else feel this way?

(NB: I'm aware I bang this drum a fair bit lol)

They killed race A as soon as gt7 came out. People who like to race road cars are basically second class citizens in sport mode. There was a large and strong contingent of us that lived in race A on gtsport and we just got scattered to the wind without a care.....

I basically only play sport mode for GTWS and when Nurburgring is offered as a daily race. If daily A this week had DR, I could really improve what GTWS lobby I get placed in. I'm generally low-A DR but could probably improve to mid-A quite easily. I did 10 A races so far this week, with 9 of them in the top 5, with 3 victories. That's the main reason, for me, that I'd like DR turned on.

It's an interesting one, I like most loved Launch daily A and then when it went a bit odd ball, no DR I rarely even looked at it unless it was an interesting combo.

When I do them it's such a weird spread, even in Ranked dailies sometimes the lobbies aren't even full on my US account let alone A which has a smaller limit in the first place. Then on my main account for A it's not uncommon for the lobby spread to be A+ to D which is just so unbalanced.

I don't know how they fix it but clearly there is a couple of factors and not just one that is at the hear of the issue.

I honestly think it's as simple as people not wanting to race with essentially no reward. Gtsport always had full and properly competitive lobbies.

Also if, for whatever reason, you only do the road cars your ratings don't really change, so it's really hard to use those as a measuring stick in those lobbies.

For example, i was A+/ very high A in gtsport and 99%of my races was in road cars. In gt7 i am a low A/high B because i need to participate in races i don't particularly enjoy to get my rating up.

One problem I suffer from is I often ignore the dailys, except for a quick burst first thing Monday. Unless it's one I like, i.e. one on the Nordschleife, which quite likely means I'm also better at than usual. So my DR gets boosted by binging races I like, then when I go into any other Daily I'm over-ranked and out of my depth.

This leads to a vicious circle where I'm even less likely to do those races, and give my DR the drop it deserves. So I get stuck with a DR higher than it should be.

If I was designing a solution, I think I'd add a per-race DR adjustment, which quickly goes up and down on that weeks Daily results. This would be on top of the existing DR which would change the same as it does now, or maybe even a bit slower. The lobbies would then be calculated on the sum of your main DR, plus or minus the per-race adjustment factor.

A conflicts me. Since I went VR I got somewhat bored with B and C races being always Gr3 and Gr4. I like to experience the different road cars now and all the different car interiors. As a result I like race A now.

There were times where I could have gained a lot of points so was disappointed it was not ranked. Then again, there’s races like this week where I’m terrible at the Nordschleife (most days) so I was thankful it wasn’t ranked. I may have skipped it otherwise.

But if it was ranked, then I would also work harder to driver better. That then puts me in a quandary. A is nice as an alternative non ranked race, where you can jump on for a quick race against real plebs and not worry about how good you are. It’s good for those days when you feel “off”. But it is also only a decent race on Monday and Tuesday and after that attendance falls off sharply.

I still contend that Sport needs road cars in the ranked races. If road cars appeared more often in B or C that would alleviate a lot of the issues. Better yet and has I have asked before, we need four races.

Daily: unranked, rotating daily race with all variety of cars; usually a single car type type race. Simple jump on and race…

Weekly A, B and C races with a mix of sprint, strategy across road cars, tuners, group cars.

This weeks C is a bit "meh" to my taste.

Before the last BOP update, we had Gr.4 at Wakins (the short layout) with several competitve choices.
NSX was the meta like it is now, but the Lambo, GTR, 4C, 458, the Jag (and Im surely missing others) were viable options.

We had to pit in that race, so some slower cars could make a decent race with a no tyre change strat and that thing made that race one of the best I remember in group 4.

Now, theres only one option if you want to overtake. The NSX
With the other cars, just try to dont lose slip and just wait for others to commit penalties or massive killings in the bus stop.

It is a bit of a problem, if ability levels are mismatched.

The other thing I found when I solely ran Race A at Tokyo a couple of weeks ago was that at least 50% of the people I raced against were the same in every race. That wasn't all negative though, as the respect level seemed to climb as the week went on.

Opinions will vary on this, please see the below quote from one of my posts a few weeks back when it was around Tokyo, its for this reason i don’t mind daily race A not having DR points given.
I am also glad that Race A had no DR points this week, I've done a minimum of 6 races per day from Monday. As I managed to do a top 50 QT for the first ever time, every race I started on pole. Ive won every race I did, bar one, which i came 2nd in.

I would say my skill set is low to mid DR A, I am yet to get the the middle of DR A. If i had received points for every race i did this week I would be at the very least high DR A if not DR A+, which im sure people will be thinking that would be great. However, my thought process is, yep id love to be DR A+ and do hope i get there eventually, but it wouldn’t be long before I was on my way back down the ranking, like tomorrow night lol.

The speed ive been carrying this week does not happen in any other race or any other car, im normally top 500 - 1500 in a GR3 or 4 car, track dependant as im better on some than others. When the new races arrive, I would get utterly destroyed if i was in all A+ races, it would be false economy if you get what i mean, no way am I an A+ driver currently.

Now this has me thinking, why am i so quick in a road car around this specific Tokyo track ? the only thing i can put it down to is the fact I barely need to use the brakes at all, its a slight press on the pedal, back off again and go which is an unusual scenario for every corner on one track.

That said, i have thoroughly enjoyed owning Race A this week but no way, am i letting myself think that’s going to happen next week :D
Check me out GT Planet Admin, I'm a multi quote goddess now :D

@Manicuk your point is an interesting one, as if it was ranked would more of the faster drivers done more of it or QT'd for it?

It's all Schroedingers race at this point but an fun thought none the less ;)
I was quite shocked to see how many drivers had actually done the race at Tokyo a few weeks back, when Digits email came over at the end of the week the total number was nearly 36k people, I know that’s no where near a popular Daily C race, but I really didnt expect that number to have done the Tokyo race.

Edit below

I’d also like to add, that week was the first ever time i had a better QT than @GOTMAXPOWER set :D

No doubt he will read this and say what you on about you donkey, i set that time whilst i was blindfolded

I agree. I know plenty of people that ONLY race combos they are super good at and then get frustrated when they get their ass kicked when they venture into uncomfortable territory.

This clicked for me at some point when I felt I had hit my DR ceiling when both combos were particularly humbling. I'm trying harder to excel in these situations and it's made me a better driver and I've seen my DR increase as a result.

And that one other race was probably the one i saw you taken out in front of me. Didn't see what happened but did see he apologized. I was really hoping to get to run with you as i almost never see gtplanet members anymore.

Just recorded the replay from last night's Race C and only when watching the replay did I notice just how much the slip is powerful! Was wondering throughout the race how I was being caught up from almost 1s behind after the start/ finish and leading to the chicane after Sector 1 😅 😂

Actually quite enjoyed watching the action as it really did not stop for all 10 laps. The lag didn't show much in the replay but during the race, with all those cars around and quick decisions to make, it really does make a difference! Mid-way through lap 1 there was a small spike but most of the last 3 laps is where it was getting to me and led to me losing P3 but oh well, was still quite fun 😊

On to the next one! 🥳 And Merry Xmas 🎅😂

Yep, finished 8th in that one. Guy had a bit of a run on me and sort of squeezed me off. And yes, he did apologize. Not a big deal, but frustrating none the less.

Always good to see GTP members on track, at least you know they'll fight fair.
