Race A.... When you get punted in to the pitlane, and also get a 3 second penalty for crossing the lines. As if your race isn't already ruined! 🤬🙄

Regarding qualifying times on A - I wonder if the temperature is variable, like it was on SSRX a few weeks ago - it made a massive (2 or 3 tenths) difference on lap times.

I just did the best part of 30 laps following the world #1 and no way could I go quicker. FFB at max. He gains time at the start/finish line and I cannot see how.

Im not sure time is, but ill test tomorrow because if it starts to go dark then times will be a lot lot quicker.

My gut feel looking at the leaderboard is it's not ambient temp related more tire temp related. I'm guessing but id imagine a good 10 laps being super smooth, one lap to warm them a bit higher and ride the grip as they cool again.

Find the odds... Being the only DR B in a mixed DR A-A+ lobby was like: "Ok, PD, are you kidding me?". Almost won, punted by "the guy" of the lobby when 2nd at last corner. Don't mind it, just sorry for the guy in 1st that I brought with me in a sort of "spun ballet".
Btw, never seen before not only one, but two couple of drivers with the same QT in the grid. 🤔

@Barney Da Dog, my bad, I should have kept the inside before, so you could follow without being at risk.

Racing while turning left flat out in a boat is not as easy as it seems. Seriously, keeping smooth input, watching cars all around you, keeping your line and hoping people do the same and finally the crazy bumpdrafting. All of that keep my confidence really low and there is drama in every race I do.

Five frustrating races before I left to work today. The first two had a bug start so I race alone.
Thrid one I got hit at the exit of turn 2 on lap 1 and lost it. I should have been more careful with the car on my right as we both try to slot behind a car.
Fourth was the best, finish 7th from 9th on the grid. I just stay behind, change lane to get out of the draft and keep it safe with 2 cars in front with me.

Last race, I tried to push more toward the front, but the constant bumpdraft from behind and then me hitting the car in front is nerve racking. Still manage to be in top 5 during the last part of the race then the car on my inside is really late for his turn in put keep the pedal to the metal and push me in the wall.

People seems to not look far enough ahead. They only look at the bumper in front and suddenly they realize they have to turn. It's a banked oval, look at the top of your screen and you will see where the track is going, there is no excuse to hit the wall on the high side.

I let this one slip away through my own poor decisions but it was still fun 👌👌
The understeer on the overspeed is chronic 🤣🤣🤣 It's so hard not to wash out and meet the wall, a slight lift would probably help I suppose 🙈 Will try again tomorrow!!

Hi guys question: Is there any trick to know if it's gonna rain or not, like your entire long race can get totally ***** if you don't put the right tire in the right time
Yes. At the bottom left of the race start screen, or lobby, there is a little radar symbol. Click on that to see the current radar.

Then in race, toggle the HUD to get to the radar to see the radar history do you can gauge which direction the rain is coming from and tree intensity.

Tonight I did 3 A and 3 B.

I got smoother and improve my time.

A much better time but still getting lobbies where I’m in the back. Still fun racing. The best was my second race where the top 9 came in in less than 0.7s.

IMG_9184.jpeg

Then for B I jumped into a race and I was at the back. Most people had QT 1-2s faster than me. The couple of stragglers at the back with me were the desperate kind. It was a blood bath. I came near the end.

I improved my time to this
IMG_9183.jpeg

But it occurred 8s before the start of the second race so it was not used for that race. Saw SFOAKDROWMW4 in that race. We were both towards the back. That back half was a sweaty race. Going on touring car style with a bit of door banging. Once I saw the style around me, I let care fully out the window and went at it. Worked my way from 14th to 8th. That was my best B of the night.

The last race was a catastrophe and it reminded me why I don’t like this combo in racing. I like it in TTs and do very well usually but in daily races I come out bettered and bruised. The new QT was only good for mid field but I lost it turn 2 first lap and after that it was over. I came last..

I think I’m done with B for this week.

No worries, I got crash-drafted by someone that knocked me off line.

That same AB guy pit-maneuvered me out of another race too, which also took himself out.

Have I become extremely bad all of the sudden, or is it more difficult to get from DR B to A recently??
I've always been in A btw. It's just a month or so that I'm in B.

I keep gaining positions and points at the end of each race (blue arrow upwards confirms it), especially from A class drivers who I simply overtake, or who fall at the back of the pack due to incidents/penalties.
For a few weeks now I'm stuck at the almost full B bar, with 26582 points at the moment (according to GTStats Live). I'll start tracking them from now on, but this looks unusual.

Even lots of players I always raced with in A, are with me in B recently.

Bathurst is truly proving to be one of the biggest tests of my patience! A really good racing littered with costly errors and (I suspect) a smattering of malicious moves disguised as mistakes.

It is really bringing out some not so often used skills on the track, what with everyone (usually) driving the same machinery, you know pretty much exactly how someone else is driving their car just by watching them. I feel like nobody is really comfortable with neither the vehicle nor the circuit, and it proves quite the test.

Plenty of consistency and a big dollop of luck is required to get a result, but if you're smart, you can slide things into your favour.

I've finished anywhere from 15th to 1st so far this week. The grid start minimises the importance of qualifying, and you find yourself a good pit strategy and a willing and able track partner (or nemesis!) and you might have a good chance.

Really fun.

I've been two pixels from A since GT Sport 😆

I thought it was just me as well but I agree with your sentiment.

I’ve been heading backwards from mid A and I’m on the brink of B now. It seems that a lot of races I’m paired with DR A that appears to be high A, typically much faster than me, and DR A+.

Usually I start in the top 8 but recently I’ve been lucky when I’m not in the last 4. You’d think that as your DR drops you’d get in lobbies that are easier but that doesn’t seem to be happening.

Most discouraging.

I just stumbled into DR A last week playing on a controller. Judging by the number of Youtubers and people with Fanatec liveries I am now surrounded with I will probably be in over my head a little bit. The racing is getting very sweaty.

Anyway I don't think the ranking system is broken or glitched right now.

Yeah I find the pace is really hot. Before i took a break 18 months ago i was 2 pixels from A+ on dpad, I feel like I am driving better now with a wheel, I feel good racing but I am stuck in B and gaining DR very slowly. In saying that I am enjoying the racing recently in High B/Low A lobbies. Most guys try to be clean, there's the odd loser being an idiot but mostly pretty clean and guys are very quick. I am able to fight for podiums and the odd win vs when i was on the verge on A+ I was relentlessly in the top split, qualifying 14th and struggling to finish top half of the grid.

Bathurst was good last night, had one race with really excellent battles. Hard to describe but the tight back blasting up through the mountain on lap 1 felt like motor race, the immersion is so good on a wheel, you feel like you are really racing. I was in close battles all race so really got a sense of where my pace is at. I am very, very fast into the braking area of the dipper, i make up a lot of time there. I am losing time tucking the nose in at Forests elbow and the first of the fast left handers across the top, i definitely bleed time there.

The changed the range for DR recently, and I noticed that each pixel on the bar has more value to it. So it is possible that people who were on the edge of A might be a B now. I was in the low A+ when it happened and I lost almost half my bar.

And, I put up a post a couple days ago regarding the controller sensitivity. I find the steering SUPER SLOW right now, and it's making me slower. I tried changing the sensitivity and it does nothing.

I think with 1.55 they increased max points from 100K to 150K. So we got a 50% increase in points and 0% increase in bar size. Imagine that has something to do with it when tracking on the bar. @GrumpyOldMan are you seeing anything weird in GranTracker?

As to controller inputs, I've got zero complaints of late. Cars feel good and my times seem to be about where they normally are, if not just a bit quicker. Assuming it's the same experience across mutiple controllers?

I think it is a combo of the new controller physics and the new physics in general. I could never use the sticks, found them way, way, way too sensitive, my feeling was they tweaked this to make it more user friendly but advanced users will feel like it is understeering.

Obvious question but do you have the space for a rig?

AaahHA! Mistery solved.

Not really: nothing but A+ was affected. All the other ranges remain as they were in Sport, and haven't changed on either occasion that the A+ cap was lifted:

A+ – 50,000-75,000 (then 50,000-100,000; now 50,000-150,000)
A – 30,000-49,999
B – 10,000-29,999
C – 4,000-9,999
D – 1-3,999
(E – 1-1,999)

If you were "low A+" - let's say 60,000 - then you would have gone from 20% progress (10,000/(100,000-50,000)) to 10% progress (10,000/(150,000-50,000)), losing half your bar.

To the above post, I have no idea why the game can't just tell us what our score is instead of a tiny arbitrary bar...

Tangentially, I had my first online race in some time this morning before work (got to grab time where I can these days) - had some qualy time last night for Race C and managed a 2:12.5 in the Mazda3. I'm predisposed to be anti-meta, but I just couldn't extract the time out of the Scirocco - may try again. Anyway, in the one race this morning in a very mixed lobby of A+ down to C I started 5th and finished 5th with CRB so nothing major to write home about, but this track is all about confidence so I was pleased to a) not go backwards; b) not get any time penalties for wall taps, and; c) see my DR go up at the end of the race. It was fun, but I'm very rusty in hand-to-hand combat and the others seemed to have more confidence across the top of the mountain in the early laps. Thereafter I could keep up, but the damage was done

What Glen says, although I think dropping to 2nd to aid turn in and then slotting 3rd on the exit is probably even better - will try that next time. AT will seriously hurt you in this car @NevilleNobody. Also, turns out the race was on YouTube as GTRealm levels up his US account... oh and I clearly started 4th and not 5th, so dropped a place. You can see how mixed the lobby was though at 6am PT!

It's been a while since I actually enjoyed a Gr3 and track combo but this one is very promising! Spent a few laps late last night trying out different cars, after watching a fantastic comedy called Liverpool v PSG on television 😂 Having calmed down from the laughs even 30 minutes after the match ended, I settled on the Huracan as seemed like nobody gave it a chance and I like the way it drives!

Did an okay time of 1:55:9 before going to bed but just now logged back in and decided I don't like "positive brake balance" downhill in the Lambo and on "-1", my first 3 laps turned out to be: 1:55:8, 1:55:8 and current PB 1:55:519 with room for improvement 😊

Still far away from the 1:53's but wife is out this evening so I can properly give it a go and do some races as well 😎

I know right? Lago Maggiore is very fluid.
Up until yesterday I used +2 BB on the Huracan, then I improved my laptime by leaving it at 0.
