4 races at B so far.

1 win (first one)

4th some absolute moron in a 155 decided that it was cage fighting not racing, got to the front from P9 in 4 corners, there was bodies along the way

1 win first a supra in first lost it

Quit: clearly a friend of the earlier Italian had no concept of racing, not even the illusion of racing just carnage

@Tidgney as I said in the comments I think these videos highlighting crappy driving, yours, murder of the weak stuff and all the shorts create unintended consequences.

There is a substantial increase in controller users (anecdotally) and they are definitely benefiting from the latest changes, but there is also a massive influx of people who arenā€™t ā€œracersā€ but players.

The thing that is really really boiling my piss, is that Iā€™m 493rd in the world for daily B, Iā€™m in high B low A mixed lobbies, not starting pole. This is all fine this how we learn and progress.

Being absolutely murdered in to the first hairpin for the 3rd time tonight is not people ā€œforgetting to brakeā€ or not knowing there markers, they are top 1000 drivers, and that takes effort and laps. Itā€™s become a tactic or some sort of bragging right. There is a lessening of race craft.

Iā€™ll be completely candid, if we saw videos of ā€œdrivers of the weekā€ versus murder of the week pleb of the week ā€œweā€™d see more people want to emulate cool overtakes and recoveriesā€ but people shown the negatives makes it a normal prolific thing that starts to creep in to acceptability.

There is a reason those videos do so well, people see themselves in them (metaphorically) and itā€™s easier to excuse and promote bad driving than it is to make good driving fun and less chaotic.

Correlation is not causation I know but more bad driving videos, more bad driving happens, it fuels the content pipe and hype, couple this with improved controller handling, more people coming back to the game post Xmas and some of these people probably left the game early at decent levels DR/SR wise.

As much as I appreciate the penalty efforts and reporting efforts, itā€™s the fundamental mentality of the players who just think this is the right sort of behaviour.

Brands is awful for racing, it really is. Even people trying to be clean hit each other, it's a circuit suited to a Lotus SUper 7 not a large touring car.
Have to disagree with you there (imo) have done 2 races this week at brands, started 10, finished 4 at BS and just today had the first 4 cars including me with QT of 1.30.7xx, started 4, finished 2

Both clean apart from a chap today in 3rd blatantly blocking me from passing but dispatched fairly quickly just missed out on the win by about 8 tenths in the end

Come the weekend Iā€™ll leave it and do race A, I guess race B will be carnage then

Itā€™s a fine track to race on, if you know how to apply pressure rather than lunge.

Iā€™ve had my best and worst results here, highlight beating the entire A+ field in my lowly B rating at the time (tuning and pit on that B, weirdly šŸ¤£)

Druids is probably the clearest overtaking space? Maybe, but youā€™ll be forcing it. Everything else is just pressure till they drive away or make mistake.

Iā€™m gonna go one more and then give up for the week. Work do out tomorrow (piss up) and new bike to build and ride. Seems more fun than this regardless of results.

Edit: Iā€™ve done my one more but my earlier quit hit my SR hard so going again

Just a weird state of racing we find ourselves in. I think Iā€™m gonna step away for a bit after this week, the combos are fine itā€™s the people I donā€™t like.

Won the last 2 and then was t-boned by a recovering driver, honestly not their fault but Iā€™d expect a slightly less 90 degree rejoin but wasnā€™t deliberate so annoying but fine.

Won the next 2, started pole and basically people are idiots.

I just donā€™t understand how they are so fast but canā€™t keep up or brake, itā€™s very much a conundrum if Iā€™m being honest. .3 back QT so Iā€™d expect them to run the same pace as meā€¦.nopeā€¦

As I go back to my earlier post, highlighting poor driving is going to be the tree that keeps giving. Will it improve standards

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

No it wonā€™t when the top 10/20/50 percent of the game donā€™t feature.

Mellow said it earlier, there is some rage in the water at the moment and itā€™s pretty ****** to race in if Iā€™m honest.

To be fair people forget to brake all the time, I've done that a few times to. But I do try highlight good driving with the stars of the week. I only mentioned plebs of the week due to the thing I'm doing that I want to submit to PD. I don't want them using the video series but something else I use in the background once it's finished I'll be happy to share.

Plebs of the week though is one of my worst performing video series, only reason it's continuing is that some people see it as a voice so I continue it and I have/do learn from it each week myself.

Also everyone wants to be the best, and get there in the shortest amount of time also! Microwave time! Instead of putting in the work

Was away for a few days and I was looking forward to a couple of races at Brands Hatch this evening as I generally perform quite well there. I am not sure what is wrong but I just couldn't put anything like a good QT lap together at all. Just something seems off. Usually I find the Megane trophy to be an excellent car around there but today it just wanted to swap ends on me constantly and I was getting annoyed with it. I can't remember what my time was but it was poor enough, just wasn't feeling it at all. Anyway, tried 3 races and it was more akin to a pinball game rather than racing so I just gave up. I think 5th was as good as it got. The repetitive nature of these combinations is starting to grate on me now and the standard of driving is not helping either. I am no angel and getting myself annoyed is only going to make me as bad so I'm out until something changes. I pay good money for iRacing so I am going to concentrate on that instead, at least the driving is more consistent to a degree. I might chance a cup race tomorrow but it's doubtful. They really need to come up with another race, a longer endurance format with proper strategy and weather for the people like me who enjoy these types of races and not just 5 laps of utter chaos (or 11 laps of it at RBR)

Would be great too if most people realize that what you do in qualifying isn't necessarily going to translate during races. Racecraft includes the ability to qualify well, but qualifying well isn't racecraft per se.
The problem I have is that the qualifying tyre is so much faster than the race tyre. I think that causes issues because people aren't prepared.

Isn't it the same tires for the races and their respective qualis? šŸ¤”

I must really like this week's Race A. I haven't won a race since GT Sport, and I finally got rid of the egg in my Sport mantel by notching my first win in GT7.

Granted it was given to me (started in 3rd, and for some reason the first two didn't go at race start), but I'll take it! šŸ„³

Couple of races in race A this morning and managed to bag my first win of the week, couple of guys at it cleanly together until somehow I pulled out this 46.7 in race and sailed right by on lap 8

Funny because my QT is only 47.1 but I did managed to improve it a little after that race

Just need to work out how to throw it into T1 hold on to it šŸ˜

My PS+ expired last week, this week's offering isn't exactly encouraging a renewal. šŸ˜“
Did you take the 5 additional days of PS Plus into account? Originally my membership (bought this past February) ends today as well, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have extended my membership by 5 days because of the online network outage in February. So maybe you can get to see if todayā€™s Daily Races (or Manufacturersā€™ Cup event) are to your liking ;)

Same tyre but more grip in qualifying.

Well, there goes my 1 and only race at Brand's Hatch this week! Never even met the others or had any interaction during the race untl that point. Cheers, donkeys.... āš°ļø šŸ’©

That has been my experience the past few weeks. Just people barging through the field with no awareness or care of their surroundings. It's getting old at this point.

They have some serious bottle neck in front of them and they not only doesnt lift for precaution, they brake late!

I took this frames from your vid

In normal conditions (without slip or cars around) this should be the braking marker and if you see the Cayman input theres no brake at all. Just a lift to let the car go

Some frames ahead, they passed some meters from the I marker and still no brakes at all. The bumper ahead is inminent

And when they are almost inside the car ahead we can see he start to brake.

Sadly, this is becoming the standard nowadays.
Lot of new people coming to race with no etiquette at all

This is a pretty easy fix, punish contact and quickly reset those with multiple transgressions, a few weeks ban if you keep it up often enough. YES it will annoy you if you hit someone by accident but it seems the lesser of two evils. We basically had this system in GT Sport at one point.

Racing for wins and podium in this week Race A. As someone mention, it's really bring GTS to memory. The car fit well the track and the AWD is welcome since we have to cut so many curbs. 46.5 slots me toward the front but as day go by, more and more fast people show up in front.

My highlights of the week so far are the two wins I throw away by being reset before I could rejoin the track and that race where I t-bone @sturk0167 .

I reckon the main problem is late breaking versus early braking.

Most people are braking late and running wide thinking itā€™s fastest where gt for the better players is usually more measured through the corners

Could be something like this šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

There's sort of three tiers right. Intentional dirty driving, reckless driving where way more care should be taken, and accidental firm contact. I feel a lot of the accidental firm contact is people braking at their marker no matter the situation. So dirty tyres, still break at 100m marker ............ 4 cars in front of them piled up at corner entrance.... still brakes at 100m mark.

You have read my last 3 posts. I find this level of racing to be horrifying.

Iā€™ve moaned about it, but Iā€™m starting to think asking for closer racing was something I hadnā€™t thought through.

I mean you video, my video shows all the boxes.

The clumsy uncoordinated boxā€¦ tick

The thirsty clumsy playerā€¦.tick

The winner come ā€œpunterā€ā€¦.tick (have to say fair play holding that first punt at the top of the hill.)

Honestly I think there is a lot of people that over state their awareness and ability.

It says something when GTWS races ban counter steer assistā€¦..

Itā€™s not enough but itā€™s a recognition that itā€™s probably a mechanic that shouldnā€™t be in the game in the first place.
